Misfits

Surprised no chewers seem to be watching this British import.  The entire series is up for free on Hulu, and it's a blast.  The premise is that a group of juvenile delinquents gain superpowers, with the exceedingly simple twist is that they're not really interested in being superheroes or anything.  In fact, they use them to commit crimes more often than to fight them, but they aren't really unlikeable for it.  It's like Quentin Tarantino's (or Guy Ritchie if you're feeling less generous) X-Men.

The first season is an exceedingly fun hangout show, with limited serialization and a focus on episodic adventures and developing flawed, believable young characters whose superpowers are largely incidental to the storylines.  I would recommend it highly if it was just that, but the second season makes the most effortless pivot into a major mythology I've ever seen.  It introduces ongoing mysteries and longer arcs, and raises the stakes significantly without discarding the low key vibe that defined the first season.  It also fleshes out the least sympathetic and developed character from season 1 significantly.  I'm near the end right now and can't wait to see where it goes in season 3.

If you like sci-fi, or superheroes, or just dramas about fucked up people forming ragtag family units, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Search turned up nothing, which I thought was weird as it's been out awhile.
