She didn't sing a word of that, but I have to say, that's the best she's looked in years.  Once she got the She-Ra headdress off, she actually looked, dare I say, attractive.  I guess if you cover those man-arms with enough sleeve, she cleans up pretty good.

And he'll probably vote for Romney who would have let Detroit die.

Can they photoshop live video? They did seem to revert to a softer focus during the performance.

Who was the one that flipped off the camera? The person manning the "button" at NBC was a half second late on the kill switch.

Madonna lip-synching was smart. I still remember that embarrassing Who performance. Oy.

Also, M.I.A. totally flipped off the camera during that performance.

As in shape as Madonna is she should have been moving a hell of a lot better in those boots than she was.

So glad NBC got rid of "Introducing Katharin McPhee" from the Smash spots.  She's done movies/tv besides idol.  Still won't watch it.

The thing I love is how Clint forgot to mention that Detroit's comeback is in some not so small part due to Obama bailing out the American Auto Industry.     Very well produced though.

Also, not sure I get the Madonna hate. It's kind of awesome that she's still chugging along, doing her shit. I'm not a fan, but it's cool that Madonna's out there.

I would like the Super Bowl halftime show to one day skew younger, but I fear that might involve assholes like LMFAO, so, whatever.

From the NFL Honors last night:

Quote:
Early in his monologue, Baldwin pretended he saw Madonna — who's performing at halftime of the game between the New England Patriots and New York Giants in the audience. He pointed out it was instead Packers linebacker Clay Matthews.

“I was confused by the hair and biceps,” he said to a roomful of laughs. Matthews, for the moment, didn't look too amused.

Madonna was top of the line in her day, but her best times are well behind her. She's going the Cher route where most of her song is overprorduced crap played over her voice. Had Madonna done a halftime show back in the nineties, now that would have been something. The powers that be are gunshy of controversy ever since the boy band kid tore the bra cup off Michael Jackson's sister.

I don't think I took a single breath during that Fiat commercial.  So much win.

Yay sexism!

Also, calling the Seinfeld commercial for the best of the night here and now.

Woah!

A new NSX!

I had no idea.

Thank you.  That ad irked me, big time.  Comparing a woman to a car, an inanimate object to be purchased and driven by a man?  How wonderful.  Fuck Fiat, and that car is hideous.

I can't tell if that, the flowers commercial, or the GoDaddy one is worse. They're all terrible in their own unique ways.

Agreed.  It may have been too much, but I really wish the music had evolved to match each decade.  As it is... ugh.

Well, she was taller than him, so... that's good?  I got nothing.

The mismatch was jarring. Who signs off on this shit?

Does anyone even go to the GoDaddy website to see the "too hot for tv" footage?

The GoDaddy one is the same unsexy Danica crap they've been pooping out forever. Tired, featuring an uncharismatic pseudo-celebrity and not even slightly sexy. It's easily the worst.

The Fiat one works really well until they reveal what the ad is for. Wait, he wants to fuck a car? I mean, I like my car, but we've agreed that we work best as friends.

Pretty sure the power dynamic was in favor of the woman and the car over the man.  And that particualr 500 wasn't pretty but the 500 overall is a fantastic car and the return of Fiat to America is a good thing.

Hyundai is rather uninspiring with all their offerings.

Okay, that Optima commercial may have been my favorite of the night.

The Motley Crue dream one? Yeah, pretty fun. I can't remember what any of these ads are for, though.

NBC Live streaming is just playing an "inspiring" GE add over and over along with Dwight from The Office encouraging me to watch the real commercials on Facebook. Weird.

God I hope this is the last of those damn Samsung vs iPhone ads.

First The Cult, now The Darkness.  Sad sad night.

Jesus, are the masses already wistful for The Darkness?

Pretty soon retro is just going to be shit that happened last year.

I know! I own a droid, and I hate these commericals. I get it, the guys in line are hipster losers. Isn't this what's wrong with our country today, dividing along the lines of cell phone providers?!

Samsung is really taking it to Apple in advertising because of the patent wars.

I hate to say that a film about and starring Navy Fucking SEALS looks totally Gay, but Acts of Valor looks totally Gay.

Yet you still find people lining up for new iPhones, not new Samsungs.

It's propaganda. Originally it was going to be a mini movie used for recruiting, then a movie.

Are the SEALS also singing that totally bitching theme song too?!

Cuz them Chinese workers are too busy killing themselves to make them quick enough to keep up with the hipster losers. Samsung's South Koreans can keep up....

Zing! ha ha ha

So at this point I'm sure that Eli could care less about winning a car for being MVP.

Unless it's a Bugatti Veyron or a Lamborghini Reventon, Eli can get a better car than what they're offering.

You don't give the MVP of America's big game a foreign car.  It's the law.

Thoughts on trailers and ads:

-I am still looking forward to John Carter because I have no attachment to the property and thus think it looks really neat, but goddamn that was a stupid way to sell it.

-GI JOE: Part Deux looks enjoyably dumb. Battleship continues to look dumb dumb.

-I am seriously not getting the TV movie vibe from Avengers at all. I think it looks exactly like the barrel of fun I've been hoping for.

-That Doritos ad with the dog was insanely mean-spirited and unfunny.

-The acapella "Gonna Fly Now" ad was amusing.

-My favorite ad-ad of the night was probably the VW one that starts with the weight-loss dog and then cuts to the Mos Eisley Cantina.

Lame game. Lamer ads.

The Acura NSX spot was the only one I liked.

The Avengers looks good.

G.I. Joe 2 looks good.

Battleship looks like a Transformers movie with crappier FX. No thanks.

John Carter? Hard to tell. I'll see it probably since there isn't much else to do in March.
