2012-2013 NFL season - Page 9

Removing kickoffs removes the onside kick though.  If you just scored to get within one score and have no timeouts left with under two minutes to go, without a kickoff, you're done.  You have no way to get the ball back.  That would render so many games pointless at about the five minute mark that now are still competitive.

It would also eliminate a ton of special teams players, which wouldn't make the players union too happy.

I missed the full conversation on NFL Radio, but apparently someone (either an announcer or a caller) came up with a feasible solution for the onside kick.  But they did also mention your point about some guys possibly never playing in the NFL because the special teams factor would be much less emphasized.

I would be ok without the onside kick.  -signed, A Colts Fan.

All kidding aside, I'll hate the see the kickoffs go.   As for the draft tonight, I hope that the Colts and Redskins turn in their draft cards quickly, we know what their picks are going to be and if they take a lot of time, it's just a dick move.

In Ted I trust. That is all.

I was hearing that the networks are going to make an effort not to show players on the phone, which I'm glad about.  I always thought it was silly to build up the suspense of who a team might be picking, then spoil it before the actual announcement.

I heard some dumb idea about winning 3 coin tosses in a row.

They better never get rid of Kick Offs.

As a Chiefs fan, I've had the pleasure of watching Tamarik Vanover and Dante Hall. So I know how exciting kickoffs CAN be. I'd hate to see it go away.

I hope so. 11 sounds juuuuuust about right.

Browns trade up to #3 to get Richardson.  Bucs must have been calling Minny.

Great move by Vikings.

Yep.  Vikings got what, like 3 extra picks for moving down 1 spot?

I am sitting on my couch eating Taquitos and Pizza Rolls.  Let's start this thing.

I wish I was more excited about this.

Actually, I wish I was excited about this at all.

What sucks is that I am more excited when my team has a top 15-ish pick. Of course, that means they stunk the year before.

The first pick is in! Who will it be...announcing the pick?

EDIT: Aw, I thought they were doing the former players announcing first.

And they could still do a deal with the Bucs if Tampa really wants Claiborne.

Holy crap, they finally got the idea to put the draftees names on the uniforms.

Browns pick Richardson.  And now it gets good because Minnesota has picked apparently.  Now the first "surprise" of the night is...

EDIT: Actually that Jax just traded up to #5

Jaguars trade with the Bucs. God it better not be a lot.

They take Claiborne, the Bucs' phones will light up with teams looking to move up to Kalil or Blackmon.

EDIT:  And there we go!

4th rounder. Hell that's when the Jags take their College of Southern Idaho guys anyway, I'm ok with that.

And we didn't have a 4th rounder.  And we might still get Claiborne.  Not bad.

And now Dallas has traded up to #6?  Holy crap, this is INSANE.

Whoa, Cowboys move up to the Rams spot.  Rams accumulating picks.

EDIT: You got it before me.  Guys on NFLN are right...with the new rookie cap, guys aren't afraid to trade up.  Last year no one was wheeling and dealing.  This is when it's fun.

Looks like Dallas wants Claiborne.  I guess the Bucs go Kuechly then.

The "Experts" said you wouldn't see trading up till 12+.

Let the Bears get someone great.

Community was fucking AWESOME.

Cowboys should take Tannehill and just fuck everyone up.

FLEED -- are you guys gonna get your QB?  Looks like it!

Chad, you better hope someone can throw to Blackmon...I see him being one of those guys that gets pissed off if he doesn't get the ball every play.  He's a big threat, though.

Oh he'll get thrown to 150 times this year. I envision the Jaguars offense like this: MJD run, MJD run, throw to Blackmon in double coverage, first down. MJD run, MJD run, pass to Laurent Robinson, dropped, punt.

I fucking love all the trades and also the Cowgirls suck chant!

Jags were at their best offensively when they had Taylor, Smith, and McCardell.  Hopefully Gabbert will step it up or at least learn something from Henne.

Wow, Bucs go safety, interesting.

Thread Starter

Wow.  Didn't see that one coming.  I guess they can't get Claiborne, so they go to another DB.

Whew....Kuechly still available....

Ha ha, Both #4's for Alabama are picked in the first 10 picks.

Also, hey, I've got 11,000 posts!

And now the "Dolphins suck" chants start...Fleed, where are you?  I want to know your emotions as the Dolphins are up and Tannehill is still available!

I don't get the Tannehill love, and I think he's the luckiest sonuvabitch in this draft. Especially if he goes to MIA.

And of course the Bucs boards are exploding over why they gave up getting Claiborne for just a 4th round pick.  Of course, the LSU defensive backs coach is on the Bucs staff now, so maybe he had some insight about Claiborne that put them off of him.

Dolphins take Tannehill.  Fleed just fainted.

First bust of the draft.  So many needs and he won't play this year.

Dear lord I hope he doesn't learn anything from Henne.

Or they just didn't think anyone would trade up and they were caught with their pants down which I think is the case.

Well, Tannehill has a smokin' hot gf/wife at least.

Get another WR for Cam Newton

Maybe there was a lot of "Trust Me" said on both the Bucs and Dolphins staffs.

Yeah, that Dallas move certainly wasn't expected.

EDIT:  And now that the Panthers have taken Kuechly, they'll be jumping off the Bay bridge any second now.

Fuuuuuuuck you Panthers!

No DE and 1 OL taken.  looking good so far for my Bears.

Ok KC....I have no idea what you're going to do now. I'm guessing Reiff or DeCastro...
