Jaguars lock up franchise player Josh Scobee to a multi-year deal. GET READY FOR MOR FIELD GOALS BITCHES

The Jags are gonna make a move this year--with the 'stache behind them and all star franchise kicker Scobee leading the way.

MAKE WAY FOR THE JAGGERNAUT!

I saw a John Clayton item preparing Browns fans for another 4-12 season. Sigh; That's my Browns, always rebuilding.

At least the Titans appear to be intriguing this year. If Britt were close to 100 percent, the offense could be quite explosive. As it stands, they have a lot of above-average weapons.

RGIII signed this morning. Everyone left unsigned in the top 10 seemed to be waiting for Luck's contract, so I'm relieved our guy hasn't and Griffin can get to work. May be the one to kick off the rest of the undone signings.

I've read that a lot of the top guys want their contracts to be guaranteed even if they're cut and then sign a new contract with another team.  They basically want to be paid twice for being a bust, because let's face it, sucking and injury are the only ways a top ten pick gets cut in the first four years, and they're not getting a second contract if they're injured.

the only way this works is if the max contract is 3, maybe 4 years. finally, the days of 5 and 6 year contracts are over.

Justin Blackmon would have been signed by now if it wasn't for his dumbass DUI last month.

Miami...Still hasn't signed Ryan Tannehill!  Apparently The Dolphins want language in his contract, allowing them to cut him without too much financial drain.  Well I do not agree with this concept as both Indianapolis and Washington didn't ask...Their high #1 Draft Choices to do this.  To me Miami should just drop it so Tannehill is in camp when it opens.  Miami had a solid offseason.  Without Tannehill there remains no hope of having a good QB with their only choices being...David Garrard and Matt Moore!

Richardson and Weeden haven't signed yet with Cleveland. Is Cleveland really going to play hardball with our two key position upgrades? The mind reels.

Mangy, The WR Cleveland took in the supplemental draft also has to be signed.  I am sure he is not looking for...chump change.

I wonder how big of a head case this guy might be.  Either he'll be just fine, or he'll just do something batshit crazy.

I had the 2nd overall pick in a dynasty draft and my friend was dumbfounded that I didn't pick Blackmon.  #1, I had pretty good WRs already and desperately needed RB help, and #2, I also wondered the same as you.

No. 2 in a dynasty league? Hardly. Hell, even when Brunell / Jimmy Smith / Keenan McCardell were throwing and catching the ball all over the place, they were never elite fantasy prospects. The team record for TDs in a season, receiving, is 10 - Marcedes Lewis and Reggie Williams. Think about that for a while. Then let some other dude draft Blackmon that high.

Thread Starter

He went with the very next pick at #3.  Also keep in mind this is a rookie draft.  Richardson was #1, then I picked Doug Martin (because I needed an RB), and then Blackmon and Luck.

Panthers trade for Raiders WR Louis Murphy.  I'll let you get yourself settled after that bombshell.

The Lions released Aaron Berry after his second arrest this month, and the seventh for a Lions player this off-season.

I don't know if that's sarcasm, but I'll bet ya a +1 Rep that he's the number one guy there within two years. The man is full of potential and will probably be the number two guy this season.

Is it bad that I actually looked up the stats to see if Murphy caught one of Cam Newton's six TD passes he had while he was at UF?

(and no, he did not)

You UF homer, you.

And yeah, I was being sarcastic, as it's not really a huge trade now, but who knows, it could turn into a Welker-like trade/signing in a few years.

Richardson and Weeden are signed for the Browns! Please stay healthy, please stay healthy, please stay healthy...

If only Bowe and Poe would sign with KC now. They report tomorrow, and my hands are wringing....

Anger is signed. The second half of the Jaguars' dynamic duo is in camp. Nothing's gonna stop us now....

Looks like the Browns are being sold to Jimmy Haslam, brother of Tennessee's governor (and current Steelers fan/minority owner). I'm guessing this means the end of the Holmgren regime, so I guess Cleveland is just planning on being in rebuilding mode forever.

On the bright side, no more Lerner.

Did KC invite this guy:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFaX_nb9ygE to camp?? That's what I heard anyway. No way see the him making the team.

FLOWERY BRANCH, MOTHERFUCKERS!

Sorry, but the Falcons have started training, and it's fucking hot here, but I'm still gonna go see 'em.

Not that I'm aware of, but maybe? They are pretty set at backup with Brady Quinn and Ricky Stanzi, who appear to be in a fierce "who can suck less at PRACTICE" battle.

MJD and Blackmon still holding out. And apparently our third-round punter can either kick it to the moon or shank it into the third row, no middle ground.

Ah, it's gonna be a fantastic year to be a Jaguars fan.

So today, Goodell said that he thinks that football should be an Olympic sport. Anybody else think this is the stupidest idea ever?

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/19719275/roger-goodell-american-football-should-absolutely-be-an-olympic-sport

Curling remains the dumbest idea for an Olympic sport ever... but this would be pretty close.

Maybe Goodell is just trying to make something in the sport more ridiculous than the Pro Bowl.

Would other countries even have players to send that would actually even have a chance at understanding Football?

According to Goodell, 64 countries have taken up the sport, a fact that means nothing. Putting a team of NFL all-stars against nations that are just now starting the game would be a full-on massacre.

The nature of the sport just doesn't seem like a good logistical fit for the Olympics.  Barring the NFL using it's full roster to fill out teams for other countries, the "competition" would be laughable for the next 100 years.

Like kernel says, for the forseeable future, it would be "Gold - United States; Silver - Canada; Bronze - ????" (my money would be on Australia).

Really, if baseball, which at least has two full continents (N and S America) + Japan (and at one point Australia would have fielded a competitive roster) can't cut it as an Olympic sport, how the heck is NFL/CFL style football going to, when one country is completely great at it, and only one other even plays that style?

Oh, and just to add - "US Gold, Canada Silver" isn't even close, if anyone was wondering at all - I grew up in an area where to fill out the HS football schedule teams would occasionally play Canadian programs. It was generally regarded as being less strenuous than having an open date.

That fucker can kick a field goal good 50+, well, at least always against the Colts that is.

Actually this is an ignorant statement. Curling is huge here in Canada and is fairly well played in other countries, unlike football. And unlike many Olympic "sports" you actually have to have some sort of strategy to win. Sorry if it's a bottom feeder in the U S of A. Get off the American World Wide Train.

What's ignorant about it?  My opinion is that curling is a terrible sport.  I've seen it.  I know it's popular elsewhere.  I just think it's a bad sport.  You wanna slide stones and scrub ice, knock yourself out.

Strangely enough, when I attempted to sell my son's football helmet that I had bought for him a few years ago, no one wanted it locally via Craigslist.  So I listed it on ebay, where it was promptly purchased...by a guy in Poland.  It was about $50 or so to ship over there, making it about $100 or so total.  But he worked with me, and I got it sent.  Never heard if it got there or not, but I'm assuming if it didn't, he would have let me know by now.  So maybe it would be Poland with the Bronze.

I don't know how well they could do if they all have to share a helmet.

Seahawks looking into T.O. Even as a 49er fan, I think that's way smarter than the 49ers signing Moss. what are the odds that Moss even finishes the season without imploding and getting cut? 50%? It's a safe bet that TO will be ripped, play hard, run across the middle, block, and thanks to his financial situation be very quiet.

I can already see Alex Smith floating a pass off-target and Moss jogging out of bounds as the defender catches it and does a backwards high-step into the end zone.

But Moss is on a much better team than Owens. So its very possible that even with his antics Moss should have a better year than TO that Niner defense is going to give the offense a ton of 3 and outs.

I like watching the special kids argue over who might be almost good enough.

OK, as a Packer fan, that begins and concludes my trash talk of the season, I just don't have the ulcer for it.

Preseason for us kicks off tomorrow in San Diego, here's hoping Graham Harrell can be the backup QB we need.

Cleveland has had an intriguing offseason...Upgrades at the skill positions, a new owner that actually seems to care about this whole football thing, and the return of the top run defense in the league last year. So naturally, they just lost their best defensive player for the first 4 games and their star draft pick is looking at his second knee surgery before he even plays a down in the NFL. GO BROWNS!

Yeah, I'd be nervous about Richardson and those knees.  I know they drafted him to be a workhorse, but I'm not entirely convinced he can handle it.  Especially in that division.  Sucks about Haden too; the guy is a beast.

The injury bug is already biting in Washington too.  Our super delicate O-line is already starting to crumble.  Methinks RG3 is going to be doing a lot of scrambling this year.

I'm an older Steelers fan that actually roots for the Browns 14 games of the year.  I keep hoping that they will do good enough to bring back that great rivalry. I grew up on the PA/Ohio state line and miss hearing neighbors go at it.  Sorry about the breaks, and here's looking forward to the new owner making a positive impact.

The Bucs have had several players having really good camps -- but that means their opposite numbers have been having really bad camps.  I never put too much stock in what goes on in training camp scrimmages, because if your defense is bad, of course your offense is going to look good, and vice versa.  Freeman has been building up pretty good chemistry with Vincent Jackson, and the running back battle seems to be shaping up nicely.  We'll see what happens against the Dolphins on Friday.  Kind of hoping Schiano brings back the old tradition of the Bucs just hammering the holy hell out of the Dolphins in the pre-season.  Shula used to hate playing exhibition games against the Bucs because we always brought it.

He was a minority owner of the Steelers, so maybe some of that winning will rub off on us.

My boss' son is a huge Alabama fan, and asked me to help him find a Trent Richardson Browns jersey. I said "Are you sure you're ready to be a Browns fan?" He said "Good point...Let me get back with you later." I haven't heard back from him. GO BROWNS!

Dickson, did you read yesterday's Grantland piece on the Bucs' promising future?

Hadn't seen that.  He seems to read a lot into numbers and trends and not so much into the actual players though.
