2012-2013 NFL season - Page 18

I'm not buying the talking points that are probably going to come out tomorrow about how the Jets were hiding their offense, or whatever.  Sanchez had a good game.  Like he wasn't capable of that?  The Bills aren't very good.  Tebow was a non-factor, at least according to the stats.  The Jets will still be average offensively when it's all said and done.

How the hell did the Eagles barely win that game?  The Browns had 200 yards of offense, and no passing or rushing TDs.  And, like, 4 turnovers.  Oh, that's right, Vick threw four INTs, including a pick six.  My eliminator pool was almost destroyed in week one.

Saints offense had 10 rushes and 52 passes.  And their defense was horrible.  No real head coach was definitely a factor.

Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey.  Matt Forte and Michael Bush.  Cutler, it's on you this year, buddy.

HA!  First year playing fantasy football and Matt Ryan is my QB!

Keep it up, son!

Matt Ryan has always been, as the ESPN guy says, a better real life QB than fantasy QB.  But with Turner getting older, and Jones and White the best duo in football, he might start to become a better fantasy QB this year.  But don't expect 300 yards and 3 TDs every week.

Ditto.  I had 6 picks.  Chicago, Detroit twice(whew), Houston, Philly, and Saints KO'd me.

I figured Eli Manning at home would be a surer thing than Matt Ryan on the road.  Yeah...

Man, the Skins really eeked one out but hey, I'm happy. Anyone see this X-Factor commercial? It was great.

I don't expect a repeat of this week every week but I think the seasoning of Julio is going to prove to be a huge factor.  This just might be the start of something great.

I don't what exactly people are going to say about the replacement refs tommrow, but one thing I think we can all agree on is that they are throwing waaaay too many flags!!

The Eagles have banked their future on on Michael Vick and the guy looks incredibly mediocre, 4 ints.

The Saints defense looks terrible, confused, and totally out of sink. You can not give up 40 points to a rookie QB, Drew Breese didn't look much better.

I guess that's why they were called dirty players?

(You meant sync, HB.)

Yeah, I was just turning on my faucet this morning and out popped Jonathan Vilma.

I didn't think an NFL crossbar could be a friendly rim, but David Akers just hit three from beyond halfcourt.

Thanks for the correction, I was typing outdoors and its like 90 degrees in my backyard.

I don't think its the dirty players argument its more that they just can't make stops.

Speaking of bad defense, The Packers defense looks as bad as it did last season.  Guess the draft and free agency didin't help cause they're making Alex Smith look John Elway.

This Bucs offense is so maddening.

If that punt return gives the Packers this game...

Jesus Christ...., Rodgers looks downright average in this game!!

These fucking refs ...

Well, I'm not going to look down on the Bucs' first regular season win since last October, and the defense held Carolina to 10 yards rushing, but I'm still worried about Josh Freeman.  He came out like gangbusters in the first half and then just vanished.  You're not going to win in this league with your franchise quarterback going for less than 150 yards.

Man, these refs... just got switched to the Seahawks / Cardinals.  No one knows how many timeouts Seattle has left.

Holy shit the refs in this Cards/Hawks game are shit.

It would be sweet if the Bears can knock them down to 0-2 to start the season with both Det & Minny winning.

And Luck didn't look that good.  He threw for 300+ but his deeper balls were weak.  He has promise but I'd be worried if he continually underthrows the ball.

I expected a game like this from the Colts.  I just hope that Andrew Luck has learned not to UNDER THROW his long passes.

Watching many of the games today... these refs FUCKING SUCK.  The end of that Seattle / Arizona game needs to be a slap across the face to Goodell... GIVE THE REFS THEIR MONEY.  This is bad.  Even the Green Bay / San Fran game had so many missed calls that were obvious to Stevie Wonder.  Bad... just bad.

hehe guys, want to hear a joke?

Ryan Tannehill

Well, the KC vs Atl was fun for that first half. Not having Pro Bowlers Hali and Flowers, meant White and Jones were wide wide WIDE open all day.

And I've been to a handful of Pro games, but I'm always surprised how MASSIVE these guys are. TV does them no justice. I'm 6'3"/225lbs, and these guys make me feel like Frodo.

His wife and contract aren't funny.  He has no weapons so it's tough to judge.  Who is the #1 WR?

Its a close call between him and Weedon for who looked worst of the starting rookie QBs.

Doc Happenin, The...Joke is the...Miami Dolphin Offense.  Seriously, outside of Davone Bess at WR, the others are replaceable.  BUSHed Reggie is not a great RB.  Daniel Thomas is average, and causes me to question the intelligence of GM Ireland to give up...3 picks to get...Doubting Thomas, when DeMarco Murray was available.  TE is average so is the man of...Clay, Charles!  Ryan Tannehill did complete over 50% of his passes, unfortunately the Texans scored...3 TDs off of 3 Miami Turnovers in less than...3 Minutes.  I say that The Dolphins should be banned from going to...Bakeries.  Maybe less access to...Turnovers would be better!

Been here a long time and I have to say, this is the duke fleediest duke fleed post ever. Had me giggling. It's kinda brilliant and I would like to use it for future use.

Better luck next time.

Hey, remember when GB followed up their improbable SB win with a 15-1 regular season?

Good times, good times....

And this is why you spend 96 million for Peyton Manning.

Hey now, there are still 15 games left.

Grrr.  If Green Bay could have played offense in the first 3 quarters the way they did in the fourth.  Fuck city.  I want this game back.  Please let us face the 49'ers in the playoffs or I will never hear the end of it.  San Fran did their job, got nothing to say about them but they looked good.  I guess it's good to start the season with the best defense you'll see all season.  Good game, see you Thursday.

Glad I went to bed after the first half--at least I got to see the Steelers score a TD.  Team looks a lot like last year--no running game, horrible OL play, and a defense that bends and from time to time breaks.  This year will be interesting if they can't get some type of running game going eventually.  DeCastro is eligible to return later in the year because of the new IR rule, so maybe that will make a difference.

Tannehill really wasn't all that bad. Only one of the INTs he threw was a bad pass, the first that Jonathon Joseph snagged. The other two were off deflections from JJ Watt at the line (something he does with extraordinary consistency). He had several rookie moments, but in general I was kind of surprised by how poised he looked, especially prior to the interceptions (which was almost a full half).

Matt Turner, I agree.  I do wonder why fans knew more of Watt's abilities than Miami Coaches, who should have realized that they might need Tannehill to roll out a little more to avoid the star...WATTage of the Texan DE!  The only Dolphin WR that looks like he even belongs in the league is...Davone Bess.  I will give Brian Hartline more of a pass as he is coming off the injuries he has sustained, but truly there is no reason Rookie WR Jeff Fuller is not in the starting line up instead of being on the practice squad with receivers like Miami has.

Oh, you bastard. But seriously, the Falcons looked GOOD. Their defense looked spotty at times, but with those WRs....

I picked the Packers to lose this game, and I knew this was the best team they would face all season. However, it is disconcerting to see that the defense still can't seem to stop my dead grandmother.

At least Tannehill wasn't tackled by a flag during the pregame:

That is the epitome of the guy doing the Brown fan impersonation in that earlier video that was posted.  "Aw, Jesus Christ."

The popular pun being thrown about in Houston currently is JJ sWatt given his propensity for batting passes.

I liked half of Haley's changes to the offense.  The quick timing patterns are a very welcome sight and help to cover up the offensive line issues (with the extra side benefit of keeping defenders from getting extra shots on Ben).  What I wasn't in love with was his "jam it down their throat" mentality when the running game wasn't doing anything.  1st and 10, 2nd and 10, then rely on Ben to convert a long 3rd down (which he did, repeatedly).

Also, Dwyer looks like the only running back who cares.  He's a prototypical Steelers RB and he seems hungry to prove he can make it.  He did nothing obviously wrong (I wasn't exactly eyeballing him on pass coverage) but they kept running out Redman who was completely useless.

Also, Mike Adams might be the worst draft miss in forever.  There's a possibility he'll figure things out but he was totally overmatched by anybody with a little bit of speed.

Shocker--are you sitting down for this one?  Someone called Richie Incognito "dirty".

Hey, more good news for the Browns -- Joe Haden has been suspended for four games for violating the league's PED policy.

It's one game.  The defense has some new blood, and they need to gel.

Not to mention, NOT PLAY TEN FUCKING YARDS OFF THE RECEIVER!

Oh, and those arms they have, YOU CAN USE THOSE TO TACKLE TOO!!!!

Dom needs to take Bush and Co. to a local peewee football practice.  DROP, WRAP and LIFT.
