2012-2013 NFL season - Page 19

You know, just once I'd like to see if the Ravens can beat this new Bengals team without some help from the Refs.  That's the 2nd BS pass interference call that gave the Ravens a TD.

Dom needs to take Bush and Co. to a local peewee football practice.  DROP, WRAP and LIFT.

Not to interrupt a good class-A rant, but if we're talking about tackling, Jarrett Bush should be LEADING the class. He's about the only DB not named Woodson who DOES tackle.

Problem with Bush is that what you really want your DBs to do is cover....that, he's not so good at.

To be fair, that roughing the passer against the Ravens was BS too.  These replacement refs suck.  I haven't been this bothered by refs since...well, since Gresham's game winning TD against the Ravens last year was overturned by the Calvin Johnson rule.

Listening to Chris Berman call a game is like listening to your rambling, drunken uncle talk at the TV.

And if you can believe it, he's actually worse when they let him call baseball games!

I just don't understand why Green Bay can't get a good smash mouth defense.

AJ Hawk... what a bust.

Woodson and Clay Mathews are the only players on that Green Bay defense that opposing offenses are even paying attention too. Maybe Capers is the problem; can't they get a D.C. to work these guys into playing some kind of defense. Then again as long as they have Rodgers, they're going to be in most games. Plus the Pats made it to the SB last year and their defense was almost as bad.

Watch out for Perry and Worthy.  Just because a couple of rookies haven't gotten there yet, don't think they won't.  6 picks in the draft were defense.  Unless you think TT has a horrible eye for talent, which would be kinda crazy at this point, give some of the new guys a few games to develop.

Green Bay played 3 shitty quarters of football yet still ended up with a chance to tie against the "best team in football".  Maybe week 1 isn't the time to write everyone off.  Remember that last couple Superbowl champs were 6 seeds.

Isn't Dom Capers considered a top tier DC too? I'm not sure what the problem is there, but it SEEMS fixable.

Because of a god awful no call gave them an extra touchdown.

Green Bay may fix their defense, and if so watch out, but the Niners were much better than them Sunday.

Well the Pack had some drive killing bad calls in the first half, so the non call on the return was deserved IMO. I seem to remember a player beig laid on during a San Fran return that went uncalled as well. The noncall Pass interference calls were insane.

Sorry, it doesn't even out.  Fans always like to say that, because refs do miss things in every game; but in this case they threw the flag and picked it up for no reason.  That's much more egregious.

Sure it does.  I seem to remember the 49ers being ridiculously off sides on a 3rd down, that went uncalled... that later ended up with another field goal.  Many of their fuckups lead the niners being able to keep drives alive, and on the flipside, noncalls killing the Packers.

The Packers gave up 186 yards rushing last week and all they want to do is pass.  Fucking stupid.  You have a top 3 back in Forte-use him.

The refs seem to have already decided on a Packers win.

Loved that fake FG, only wish more coaches were gutsy enough to try trick plays like that...

So many brutal drops in this game.  Fantasy wasteland so far.

Well, Jay, it's a good thing you've "got some dudes", because the offense used to be anemic...

Jay Cutler proved tonight why he'll never be a top tier QB.... He follows up a good game with a complete shit fest the next.

Well, that really doesn't explain why he'll never be a top QB.

For me it's mental.  Just look at his attitude; how many top QBs act like him?  He's petulant, and a jerk.  He doesn't have the mentality of a cool, poised, winner.  Guys like Rodgers have some jerk in them, certainly... but he's much cooler headed and a smarter player than Jay.

The O-line was atrocious.  Cutler lost his cool and made some terrible throws, but c'mon, he never had a chance tonight.

No shit. I've come to be much more catholic in my football viewing....obviously I want to see GB beat the shit out of the Bears, but it was basically turning into "GB beating the shit out of Cutler" while the rest of the team got off scot-free. Don't seem right.

The Bears line is awful.  Matthews had his way with them like they were 3rd world hookers.  Almost got half his sack total from last year in one game.  Cutler is a good QB, but damn, give the guy some time.

On the good side, glad I took the under.  Never let a performance against the Lambs color your decision.

Any of you guys get a chance to check out http://www.chud.com/107118/thud-the-nfl-tackle-clint-vs-week-2/?  I am looking for someone to pick against, and I know quite a few of you have pretty good commentary.  I would do the brunt of the work.  Just looking for someone interested.  Really enjoyed the column when Tim and Terry did it, and would like to keep it going.  Tim is too busy this year, so I am picking up the torch.  If you are interested, send me a private message on here.  We can work out the details from there.

Edit:  I now have someone unless they feel it's too much work or we kill each other.  Thank you Martianman.

You guys are being too hard on Jay!

I spent most of last night throwing up.

I really am not sure if it was what I had for dinner or watching the Chicago Bears "offense" that made me violently ill.

Just saw jahosive's post. Darn. I'd be happy to volunteer if needed in the future.

This is just a theory, but: Is it possible that the Bears OL doesn't block for Jay Cutler in part because they can't stand him?

That's not all of it, of course. During the game Doug Farrar posted an FO column from 2010, detailing how Mike Tice doesn't install advanced protections in the preseason. Maybe he should think about doing that.

difference is, Rodgers isn't a jerk to his teammates.  There's a reason Denver wanted Cutler out, and it wasn't his ability to throw the ball.  Even 670 the Score is calling Cutler a douchebag today.

And Cutler needs to back up his smart talking, love how Woodson said "We weren't Lucky, it was typical Jay, he threw it right to us"... or something like that.

Ok folks, you can all start ridiculing me for my picks--I'm the lucky schmoe who is doing NFL picks weekly with Clint/jahosive for CHUD.  Spoiler alert--I will never be picking Cleveland to win a game this year.  Probably.

The Patriots are probably going to lose to Arizona, in Foxboro, with Kolb.  It sounds like a game of Clue, but if there's one thing about the NFL this shows, it's that we're all clueless.

I'm very glad I didn't pick them in my suicide pool this week.

Cam Newton's wallet definitely says "Bad Motherfucker" on it.

Andy Reid got bailed out on a dumb decision again; even if the result was the same (3pts), it could have been worse.

I picked them twice with Houston, NYG, and Cincy

Ryan Williams is gonna be off all my fantasy teams.  2 fumbles in 2 weeks for a rookie.  He'll never get an inportant carry again unless an injury or 3.

Can't believe the Eagles are going to be 2-0 the way they've played.  But they're everything they seem to be.  Spectacular, explosive, and always teetering on disaster.  You don't make long playoff runs like that.

Jacksonville Jaguars 2012:

BUT AT LEAST WE GOT US A DAMN GOOD PUNTER

Thank you Clark Hunt, Scott Pioli, and Romeo Crennel and staff.....today I am officially embarrassed to be a Chiefs fan.

Fuck the Chiefs. Dwayne Bowe's garbage time two TDs are killing me in fantasy. If you're gonna get blown out at least lie down like dogs and get blown out. You know, like the Jaguars.

The Miami Dolphins were...RAIDERS of...Oakland's...Lost Ark towards respectability!  4 Rushing TDs and one touchdown pass from Tannehill to Fasano were too much for Oakland!  1-1 is good news for Dolphin fans.

What a weird day of football so far.

And fuck Vick.

Goddamn, RGIII!

I hate to be an over-reactionary, but, it looks like the Colts fucked up when they picked Luck.

Yes, but you still have to use him properly. Shanahan vs. Pagano? Give me Shanahan. He plays games with his running backs but he knows how to coach offense.

If anybody fucked up, it's probably going to end up being the Rams.

And Steven Gostkowski becomes the most hated man in football as thousands of survival pools go up in flames...

My fantasy teams are walking wounded this week.  Gates out at practically the last minute, Bradshaw goes out early, Greene just went out.  Crazy.

As for the Bucs, it's funny how a game I was ready to write off as a loss at 12:59 turned into a game I'm still pissed about four hours later.  I should be glad we hung with the defending champs in their house and damn near won, but our pass defense was atrocious in every respect:  no pass rush, Talib and McDonald getting burned, unable to defend the slant.  It was just maddening.  Of course, we took our foot off the gas once we were up by 14 and our offense went into turtle mode yet again.  You know how you hold a 14 point lead?  You make it a 21 point lead.  Then 24.  Keep scoring.  Let the defense worry about keeping the opponent's offense off the field.  I'm so tired of this offense being happy with a three and out that milks five minutes off the clock.  SCORE.

I always thought that Bradford was the most milquetoast overall #1 ever taken but I imagine the Rams would have to give it at least this season and next before people start getting fired for drafting him.

Oh, I am not saying they should have given up on him.  But if RGIII ends up being the best of the lot, I still think Luck is much more likely to be an all-pro than Bradford is.

Wow, in a day filled with some bonehead plays, Washington WR Josh Morgan throws the football at STL CB Cortland Finnegan, drawing a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and taking the Redskins out of game-tying field goal range on third down. 4th and 28 and Billy Cundiff is forced to try a 62-yard field goal, which is nowhere close.

Redskins football, everybody. Note to receivers: the ball should only ever leave your hands if you're handing it to an official. Infuriating.
