Wait, wait. I've heard of the original show, but...it was about the MOON being thrown around the Universe? Due to an explosion knocking it out of orbit?
That's...that's the most wonderful thing I've ever heard.
Seriously though, I'm always down for a new space travel/exploration series, ridiculous or otherwise. It's too bad that BSG, as great as it was, kind of tainted SF TV for the nonce. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the fact that a "dark and gritty" version of Battlestar Galactica worked at ALL, let alone as well as it did, is a goddamned miracle, and no one should be trying to recapture that lightning in a bottle. At least before that show the SF exploration shows like Stargate and Farscape and whatever that one was with Kevin Sorbo, as cruddy as they often were, had a certain nimbleness and imagination to them that made it fun. Now you're not allowed to have fun and travel the galaxy discovering insane, trippy new worlds. Everything has to be "realistic" and "subdued", i.e. boring and depressing. These kinds of shows live or die on the power of the writer's imaginations, and without the freedom to toss in fake-looking bug monsters that eat suns or sexy green chicks or whatever, there's very little of merit there. This is why Doctor Who survived for decades despite everything that was wrong with it: at least it wasn't afraid to dream a little bigger, darling. (Sorry)
Attempts to remake classic SF cheese like The Bionic Woman and Flash Gordon, both of which could have been entertaining, also fell victim to this tendency, resulting in some of the worst TV ever. Wasn't there also incredibly stupid-looking "dark" version of The Phantom that was cancelled after about five minutes?
What I'm saying is, I hope this isn't an attempt at a "realistic" and "relevant" SF show. Now that I know I might get the moon zipping around the galaxy, I WANT THAT.
