Kirk Cameron Looks Concerned: The Movie

The number of iconic poses in the trailer is amazing.  I especially like the one where he's standing outside his house with a mug of coffee, staring at the American flag.  He's our own national treasure.

Befuddled

Concerned

Angry

Hopeful

This is the story of one slow-witted man's quest to discover the history behind the words on the bumper stickers on his '97 minivan.

"Hard to believe this man can tie his own shoes" - Karl Pilkington

"It's a film!" - Marge, Subway sandwich & donut bringer

"Oh, for fuck's sake..." - Jesus Henry Christ

Two of these expressions definitely could have passed for "Hungry."

He's hungry for meaning and hope in this backwards, morally bankrupt secular age! And who can blame him?

Fuck this movie and fuck that oddly shaped man.

Gripe all you want, but you can't refute the logic.  America was the world's dominant superpower for the last 60 years or so.  So if we immediately start following whatever some of the Founding Fathers wrote about in their secret diary 250 years ago with no regard for context, the US will be back on top in time for our great-great-great-great-great grandchildren to enjoy an identical age of prosperity.  The math is simple.

So what's this about?  Cameron goes and finds the awesomely religious underpinnings of all things American I suppose.  Since much has been done lately to point out that the founding fathers wanted a secular state, they just have to go further back then.

It won't matter what anyone outside the circle says, of course, as this will be shown in church on a double bill with Expelled no doubt.

What's that monument "no one is talking about" anyway?

Oh shit, the parallels between the US and the declining Roman Empire are indeed astounding. The US are indeed beset on all sides by hostile peoples that can regularly field armies bigger the ones they can and armed with similar and at times more advanced technology. They are also in the middle of transferring from one dominant state religion to another one that has yet to compromise in order to be able to operate within an empire. Not to mention the fatigue of being a major world political, financial and military power, almost in constant war for 600 years. And the civil wars that keep breaking out every ten years or so.

Are they seriously that retarded? The US are NOTHING like the Roman Empire. And I mean this in both a good and a bad way.

The monument, assuming it is the one they show, is the National Monument to the Forefathers. The main figure is "Faith" with Bible in hand so you can easily see where good ol' Kirk is going to take this.

I do agree that it is sadly a rather unknown work, I lived in Plymouth for probably a decade before I ever caught a glimpse and it is truly an impressive sight.  Plus I believe it is the largest solid granite monument in the world(a quick AltaVista search agrees at the least).
