Cinematic Shocks - In-depth analysis on horror, exploitation and other shocking cinema

Cinematic Shocks is here! From the ashes of Cinematic Horror Archive comes my new blog that unlike CHA will be here to stay. I will be publishing a new article on average once a week applying intelligible in-depth analysis to horror, exploitation and other shocking cinema.

At this moment, there are 42 pieces for you to read. These include two brand new reviews exclusive to the site - check out my write ups of Thriller: A Cruel Picture (1974) and Deadbeat at Dawn (1988). There are 35 updated versions of all of my articles from my old blog all fully revised and are now much better reads. There are also links to 5 of my reviews up on Zombie Keeper.

So join me on this journey and I hope you enjoy your reads. To begin reading click here.

Thank you all very much for reading,

Dave J. Wilson

I will be making some changes to the layout of the blog next week to make for easier site navigation.

Check out my review of the 1981 slasher The Prowler.

I published this piece a bit later than planned due to constant changes I had to make to the blog's layout. My next article should be up on the site a bit sooner. It also isn't the film I originally intended to write about but I needed to get something up for this week and I didn't have much time. I already had the research together for the review and slashers are easy to write about so I went with the logical choice.

Thanks for reading.

Check out my article The Progression of a Filmmaker: Three Short Films by Jeremiah Kipp with links to two of the shorts and information about the other and be sure to watch the trailer included for Kipp's upcoming feature debut 'The Sadist' starring Tom Savini due out later this year.

I got this piece up a lot later than planned. I usually like to publish a new aritcle on average at least once a week and here is my one for last week. I'm getting back on track though and I will have a new review up at the latest this Sunday.

Thanks for reading.

There should be some changes soon with a new banner for the blog's header that will be unique to the site and will help promote the brand name of Cinematic Shocks. I will also be putting together a links page with a list of banners of recommended blogs and websites.

I have just published my review of Gutterballs (2008).

Cinematic Shocks now has its own unique banner for its header and I just got the news today that a few more are on the way. A big thank you to David Grant the writer of the brilliant site Films That Witness Madness for taking the time out of his busy schedule to put them together.

I have also made a SITES OF INTEREST page with a list of banners of blogs and websites you should check out. So get on over there.

Starting next week, I will be publishing two new reviews per week. More quantity does not mean less quality though as I will still be putting in the exact same care and effort into each article to make for the best possible reads. In the case of a feature then it will be just the one piece for a week but other than that it will be two new reviews per week from now on unless other commitments dictates otherwise.

I’ll be doing write ups of new releases in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for reading,

Check out my review of The Wicker Tree (2011).

I know it's been a while since my last update, but from now on I will be publishing a new article twice a week with the first piece up every Wednesday and the second up every Friday. So, you will know when to check back for new material from me. You will also know what to expect to see on Cinematic Shocks every week from the new 'COMING ATTRACTIONS' section at the top of the right column.
