'Legend of the Seeker' worth watching?

I tried watching the first episode but it had a flatness that prevented me from getting past the first five minutes. Does the show get better?  I've never read the novels and after perusing TVtropes' entries on them I never will, so fidelity to the source material isn't really a criterion. I'm more interested in whether it succeeds as fantasy entertainment- sorry, I meant as "stories that have important human themes".wink.gif

(sorry, couldn't resist the quote; seriously, no offense intended to fans of the books).

That's unfortunate because the novels aren't really bad. It's one of my favorite book series.

No way. I used to have this on in the background at work on Saturday nights. Nothing else was on, or the other choices were somehow worse.

I caught most of the first season. It frequently threatens to become nearly interesting, and makes you think to yourself how much fun you could potentially have with a low budget fantasy show like this, but it only occasionally rises above the bland for a few noteworthy moments of retardation. There was the one with the crappy CGI dragon, and the one where the Seeker is seeking the Seeker's brother.

I think it was a Sam Raimi production, like Xena. Ted Raimi even had a cameo as a shifty mapmaker or something. I never watched much Xena, but I imagine it had to be better, because Lucy Lawless actually had a personality. No one in this cast was capable of much. The wizard needed a better actor like Walter in Fringe (John Noble?) to elevate the material. And the lead guy makes Paul Walker look legendary.

I have a friend who was very much into the books and felt the show was an utter abomination. Just check out Game of Thrones if you haven't.

My wife and I made it through season 1 on dvd. Started season 2. Production values are ok. Plenty of character conflict. Not enough fantasy though. It's Xena without the charm or humor.

This is about right, it was an utter abomination.
