The needle on the nostalgia meter didn't even quiver.

I can wait to rent it on video

VHS am I right?

There are two ways I see this: 1) If Jim resists temptation from the barely legal 18 year old, only to walk in on Michelle going down on her.  2) If there's a scene where Stifler breaks down crying about his wasted life, and eats a bullet.

Beta to be more precise.

Regrettably, mine did. I have more fond memories attached to these movies than I logically should.

Yep, I'll be there.

For two of them, so do I. I don't think there are many people of our demographic who don't. My intense, psychopathic hate for the third one suppresses any left-over nostalgia, though.

This.  Unless the reviews are great, I'll sit this one out...........at least until home video.

Judging by the trailer, this movie features little to no Tara Reid.

That's financially smart. You don't want to blow half the budget on a CG team to smooth that shit out.

What's wrong with the 3rd one? Stifler's dance off was pretty funny. I think.

I think people hated that it turned into Stifler: The Movie. There's only so much people can take of that character.

Bingo, it isn't terrible but too much stifler. Also they took the character too far. In the other movies Stifler was a goofy asshole but in wedding they amped it up to the point where he was a cartoon. Pulled me out of the movie completely.

You know, I was hoping the inevitable 4th one would be American Divorce, where Jim and the rest of the cast are all mid-40 middle managers with two crappy kids and a non-existent sex life with detached spouses, and it's 2 hours of misery, booze, awful custody battles that bring out the inner asshole in everyone, and wasted lives. I think it would give the films a touch of realism they've been lacking.

They're only 30 now. Save that for the inevitable 5th one in 2022.

What's kind of interesting about this franchise is how the characters are actually now more developed than I am. I'm still basically the same 19-year-old jerkoff I was when I saw the first film.

The characters being in lousy relationships/marriages that results in them no even caring about sex anymore would be pretty funny. Them trying to regain their "mojo" would be even funnier.

Yeah, I kinda like that line of thinking and would certainly be up for a sequel taken in that direction.

As for what's wrong with American Wedding?  I just thought it was nowhere near as funny as the first two (neither of which are "classics" to me).  Simple as that.

So did Jim's mom die or something? Kind of a bummer for an "hilarious" reunion movie.

I've been wondering the same thing actually.

Too much Stiffler, too much Finch. Nope, nope, nope.

At least it wasn't just American Pie: The Same Gags But Not As Funny like AP2 was.  I wasn't a huge fan of suddenly-honestly-mentally-retarded Stifler, but other than that I enjoyed American Wedding quite a bit.

Yeah, while I don't hold any of these flicks in particularly high regard, I remember loathing AP2. Partly it was the movie's cynical attempts to tick off / outdo the same set piece beats at the first one; the rest was down to that obnoxious little shit who played Stiffler's brother. The comparatively gentle American Wedding was a relief after that.
