Eva Green is the only reason to watch this.

The review was far too kind.  I think I made it through 4 episodes before I finally gave up.

...and yet it still sounds fucking god-awful. God damn am I tired of Hollywood fucking up one of th easiest, slam-dunk stories in western literature.

Not all revisionism is good revisionism, sometimes things are awesome and popular the first time out because they work like gangbusters to begin with.

I watched it all but can barely remember anything about it other than Joseph Fiennes' enjoyable scenery-chewing and Eva Green's enjoyable Eva-Greenness. Reboot it as MERLIN starring Fiennes and I'd give it another whirl.

Hell why the fuck can't modern writers and producers simply treat the great mythical legends that all our fiction is fucking based on with a little respect and do them justice? Why not try and rock a little fidelity to the sources and rely on the actual strength of these epic stories to grab audiences in the first place?

It makes me go a bit Madelan Kahns Mrs White at modern Hollywood really...
