I voted for Bayonetta simply because it's easily one of the best action games of the decade.   The combat system is deep, the levels are varied and very creative, and the boss battles are epic in scope.   Add to that, the fact that you are fighting the Heavenly Host opens up a whole new design pallette for the enemies you battle and the art department doesn't disappoint.   Think Renaisance inspired design for the bad guys.   The one huge point against it is how Japanese this game is.     This cannot be understated.    For me, the actual game  prevailed and  the cheesiness won me over but I can see it as a deal breaker for a lot of folks on here.   Alan Wake is a game I would love to get and play along with you guys but "Bayonetta" should be put in queue if for nothing else than a pallette cleanser between more serious gaming fare.....

Decided to go with my original choice and vote for Enslaved. I'll join in with the discussion if Alan Wake gets picked, but played it no so long ago and don't really fancy running through it again.

Holy fuck we really need to narrow down the choices. That's a lot to chose from. So many great games.

 

And I voted for Prey. One of the most interesting FPS games ever, and one of the last to innovate.

The good thing about Bayonetta is that it can be beaten within a week.   There's tons of replay value but it's not one of those games where you get sidetracked by sidequests or deep storylines.   It's pretty much "Here's your target. Go!" but executed to such a high level.   The later boss levels have the feel of fighting a god and have a nice sense of scale.   Even if the game is not picked as an official selection, it's worth your time.   That and the loading screen (at least on the 360 version) let's you practice your combos.   Brilliant.

I could be on board with that, though if Alan Wake's still in the lead when the poll ends, that'll be switched. Also, I dread my brain exploding into a glittery cavalcade of clownshoes and fleshlights if I have to play that and Lollipop Chainsaw back to back in June.

PC People: GoG has Alan Wake (with both DLC episodes!) for 15 bucks for this week only, so hurry the hell up!
