Yeah, I'm probably not doing the bow thing anymore.  Dragon Knight, remember.  sigh

Bob - so I'm thinking I might go ahead and start a Stam based Sorc since some of the changes coming into update 7 (when IC releases) look pretty damn powerful for that class.

Since you and I both have gone through the entire story twice at this point - if you're interested in powerleveling, I'd be down for it.

However - for those of you reading that haven't completed the quest line at least once. Do yourself a favor and do that.

So based on some data mining on the PTS (meaning read as rumor only at this point) - there look to be some Halloween themed crown store additions coming in the Fall (presumably), but if they pan out as they appear to - Tzu, is the Breton Hero costume "ninja" enough for you?

Tzu, start leveling your alt with some urgency.

Good lord. There are patch notes, and then there are patch notes.....

Granted, I'm sure they'll change slightly for the PS4 / XB1 crowd when IC hits there in a couple of weeks - but sheesh.

NA Server snd just as important, make sure you select the Ebonheart Pact as your alliance or we won't be able to play with ya.

Yup, Dave is right. We all started off in Ebonheart! See you on tonight!

Downloading 16 gigs of patches lol.

Orsinium coming out next month. Unlike the Imperial City DLC which was PvP based (with PvE elements inside a PvP environment), Orsinium is the PvE based add-on

I haven't logged in for a while -- be occupied with other things for the past month or so.

I see everyone's skill points got reset with a recent update. That... sucks. I'm not super jazzed about having to go back and re-do 70+ skill points.

Resurrecting this thread to ask some advice.

I dived back into Skyrim last night and reminded myself how much fun tooling around that world can be. So, this morning I've been wondering about the Elder Scrolls MMO.

I've never played one of these online multiplayer games before. Is the Elder Scrolls one I can happily mooch around on my own getting used to things, and is co-operative play with others essential (I'm not anti-social but I don't have, nor do I particularly want to invest in, headsets and the like)? Am I going to get mullered on a regular basis by players who are far better equipped, skilled and experienced than me, or is it not something where conflict arises between human players?

For an MMO - ESO is surprisingly single player friendly. You can very easily play the vast majority of the game solo and do just fine.

I should say it has been quite some time since I've played and they have made changes since that time - but the only time you're really 'surrounded' by a mass of other players are in towns. There are some public event type things that you'll be glad that other random folks show up for (they 'can' be done solo - but it isn't all that fun to do) and you'll appreciate it when other folks show up in the public dungeons. Neither of those things require communication between players however, so a headset isn't necessary. The non-public dungeons would require a group (preferably pre-made since the matchmaking at the time I was playing wasn't exactly stellar) and the raids would certainly require a group communicating with each other - but that still leaves a metric ton of content for you to explore even if you don't participate in those events. Most of the time - you'll be doing story quests (main and a crap-ton of side) where you rarely even see another player.

Bottom line- if you like the Elder Scrolls formula and are itching for more - go ahead and give it a shot. You can usually pick it up fairly cheap and it doesn't require any kind of monthly subscription (they have one - but as I remember the only reason was for an XP boost and access to all the DLC even if you haven't paid for it while you're a sub). Myself, I'm periodically tempted to jump back in - but with other games occupying my time for the long haul - I just don't know when I'd be able to invest the time into it

What Dave said.

ESO is one of the most single-friendly MMOs there is. Players can't attack one another unless you're in a special PVP area so you don't need to worry about conflict with others.

Gentlemen, thank you. Sounds like it might be worth a try.

My five game library has now expanded to 21. Damn.

You'll be surprised just how much ESO feels like a traditional Elder Scrolls game. Plus, the controls make more sense that the mainstream titles, if you're playing on console. I never liked the default mapping for jumping on XBox.
