New Draft

Thinking about organizing one.  So far my ideas are eras: from The Jazz Singer to GWTW, or GWTW to Sunset Boulevard, or Sunset Boulevard to The Apartment.  The other idea was originally a genre draft, but the problem is the deeper we get into genres the more blurred the line becomes.  So I thought perhaps a genre double feature draft, where each day we would pick a double feature from crime/noir, westerns, sci-fi/fantasy, horror, and one other.  The director draft idea also seemed popular last time this was discussed.  I'm not as into it, but if that's what most people wanted we could do that too.

 

So sign up here, and weigh in with your preference.  If we can get 20+ people to participate, we'll start it Monday the 21st.

Gonna have to sit this one out as I'll be off the grid most of the week of Memorial Day, and I doubt this will be wrapped up before then.

I'm in! I like the double feature and directors draft ideas.  Either one would be cool with me.

Someone mentioned a Summer Film draft, and I liked that idea a lot.

 

I also like the idea of a Director Draft. Those would be my two preferences.

I haven't done one of these in several years, but I dig the double feature draft idea. If that's the one chosen, I'm in.

I'm in. More partial to the era drafts since it leads to a bigger cross-section of films being taken. SUNSET BLVD to THE APARTMENT would be nifty. A 70's redux might be one to consider since it was a while ago that that one was done and likely a lot of different folks would participate now than did back then.

Obviously we're going to need more participants, but I'll also add a poll at some point this week to see which direction you guys are favoring going in.  If there's not a runaway winner (as most likely there won't be) I'll take the top two and have a final vote.

 

Also, even if this does get off the ground, it will be pushed back a week.  If I can't get enough people that we can get an order set for the 28th... then we'll just leave it and try again in a couple of months.  Sometimes these big drafts take a few stops and starts.

 

As for the newbies, the rules are pretty simple, and they will be laid out well before the thing ever started.

I'm in for whichever.  My preference is Summer Movies or Directors, but I'm up for anything except maybe the 30's/40's.
