NEW POSTER: DARK KNIGHT RISES, GOTHAM BURNS (AND IT ALL LOOKS DUMB)

No good.

I dig the poster.  Eye-catching, appropriately badass ("Bane, you can't destroy Gotham. That's my job!") and shows creativity.

To give some perspective here, remember this chapter in Floating Head Hell?

Maybe it's me, but it seems like Batman's leaving forward more than Michael Jackson in "Smooth Criminal".

Batty, are you okay, are you okay, Batty!

The poster is an absolute eyesore.  The closing film for a big money-making trilogy deserves better than some shit I could do on my computer if you gave me two minutes and Photoshop.  I can't remember seeing such a shitty poster for such a sure-to-make-Croesus-money movie.

"A Fire Will Rise" is one of the worst tag lines I've heard in a long time. It doesn't even make any sense.

I have to say that normally Photoshop jobbing posters don't bother me with their crappy montage set ups but this one really does.

Its so utterly lazy. A friend posted the original up on Facebook about 30 mins ago and I thought he was winding me up and showing some fan wank poster, I even went to pains to actually recreate the poster myself (it took 20 mins, which was including finding suitable resolutions of the two pictures involved, rough roto work on Batman and a mocking up a clean bit of text) just to prove it.

When he then pointed me in the direction of the official Dark Knight Rises facebook page as the source! Well, I'm just gob smacked that a film which is so clearly a big one for Warners is getting such a slapdash poster. Its just dire!

On the plus side I clearly have a bright future in film poster work for Warners.

I have now realised two things.

(1) Modern posters nearly always pale in comparison to those of yesteryear (damn you Photoshop!!!) and (2) I have a higher reputation here than Renn.

Here on the planet called Earth, flames tend to move upward.

Was the Bat-Codpiece that delineated in the other two Nolan movies? It's giving me Schumacher flashbacks.

Burn the heretic!!!

Come on guys lets face it, at this point the brothers Warner could release this as their poster...

...and it wouldn't make one cent of difference to the films eventual box office.

hell I'm surprised they even bothered with a new poster with under two months to go.

The first two teaser posters were pretty great and now they just took a still from The Dark Knight at a slightly different angle and pasted it on the poster

Obviously, Bats has just gone for a pee and is checking for leakage.

Is TDKR already so far in Nolan's rearview that he could sign off on this? I'm kinda shocked he approved this.

If I had to take a wild guess, I'd say he's well into working on/out his next directorial project and helping rebirth the last son of Krypton.

Hey kids, wanna make your own shitty DARK KNIGHT RISES poster

Flames do. Yes. But the wording of that tagline is just so strange. Is it saying that, in general, a fire will rise? Or there will be a specific fire that will rise in this movie? It's just awkward grammar and sounds like something an intern came up with after looking at the orange sky in that poster, rather than a statement about the film that makes sense as a stand alone sentence.

The first posters were more gray than teal, but at least now we got the orange!

That .gif is hilarious, and damning.

I've gathered that The Fire Will Rise is some sort of coded phrase in the film. Kinda like, "In It 2 Win It."

"The Fire WIll Rise" sounds like something you'd see on a college football fan banner. "Roll Tide!"

The poster? Cripes. What a lazy letdown.

It's got a myers87 vibe for sure.

This is a horrible poster.

"A Fire Will Rise" would be more appropriate for a Bane centered poster since that's the phrase his mercenaries/cult seems to use.

'A fire will rise' sounds more like an STD warning from your doctor.

"A Fire Will Rise" either should've been the tagline for Fire Down Below or been the title for its sequel.
