E3 is upon us and we usually have some fun with the presentations so I figured I'd start a thread for comments and all sorts of cool shit we find out.

This seems like a good site for us to watch the live feeds.

Anyway let me kick this off with a poll and a gameplay trailer for one of my most anticipated upcoming games, Dishonored:

Valve wont say crap about Half Life 3  as much as I'll love for them to.   I really want to know about Sony's and Microsoft's up coming systems.  I'm not a huge console gamer, but I own both the 360 and the PS3..But with a future upgrade I'm going to limit that to only a single system. And there is no way the new X-Box goes without Blu Ray right??

I'm 99% certain there won't be any new hardware by MS or SONY announced this year. Especially after they saw how Nintendo announcing Wii-U so early caused any E3 hype about it to completely fizz out.

And as for Valve, I refuse to stop believing.

I hope for hope from Valve.. But I'll wait...they deserve my patience.   You're right stelios, with Nintendo going all out with the will-u this year, I'm sure it'll be the best E3 where we get the hardware news from Sondy and MS

That Dishonored trailer, dear lord, spray it all over my face and back!

BAM, REVENGENCE is looking great, or as some call it: Ninja Raiden.

Hitman gameplay of one level they're demoing at E3. Looks great and the gameplay looks exactly like a Hitman game. Fantastic.

Man just look at all the Rape Culture that game is oozing. Hitman is going to be the Rapiest Hitman ever.

Have you seen the Hitman trailer where our hero kills a bunch of leather nuns? Classy!

I'm mainly looking forward to Assassins Creed III footage and maybe some info on the new Zone of the Enders game. Curious to see what Nintendo can do with the Wii U. Other than that, unless there are some surprises it should be about the same as usual.

So classy it was a great Best Western ad until the scantily clad lady killers decided to blow half the hotel up with their rpg. OMG teh Rape Culture rant by some dude...I get the message he's trying to convey. It would be nice for the medium to advance to a more mature state without having to demean anyone or anything. But just call it what it is without sinking to Fox News levels of sensationalism...video games still have a lot of MISOGYNY in the subject matter.

For me the implication of devhouses being filled with 14 year old sex starved boys is nothing like I've ever experienced. A lot of the key designers and leads I've worked with have always been women, and all of them have been razor sharp smart within their respective fields of focus. But there is that long history of objectifying females. Tomb Raiders, Space Bunnies, the females in Arkham City, etc. That I can't deny. As more and more females break into the field hopefully this problem weens itself out, focus on making a good game, and not having to resort to gaudy pageantry to build up pre-release hype.

One of the big problems is the more prominent female writers in the business right now--The ladies who wrote Deus Ex Human Revolution, Uncharted 3, and God of War III--are still writing stories about men.

By the way, dont think I need to make a "Video Game Shit I Just Realized" thread, but Rhianna Pratchett, who wrote Heavenly Sword and Mirror's Edge, is apparently Terry Pratchett's daughter.

Well, that guy in Mongy's post was certainly worked into a lather. For me, when I see a stupid ad like the nun trailer, I just scratch my head. Are the nuns assassins? BDSM assassins? Do assassins usually line up in broad daylight in a V-formation in front of their targets with rpgs? Why the nun habits disguises at all if they shed them to reveal their BDSM outfits? Isn't Hitman all about stealth and secrecy?

I just don't get trailers like that, especially for a property like Hitman. I'd like to think that even when I was a fourteen-year-old I'd still have thought it was stupid.

Let's keep this discussion to a minimum here.

This footage is the first hint that this is an actual Hitman game they're making. Though I still hate that going in guns blazing is an actual possibility.

There's not too much in this year's E3 that I'm really looking forward to. Anyone here anticipating anything noteworthy? Kinect bores me, Wii-U bores me, and I can't think of many games that will be considered surprises. Let's hope for some more Dishonored-level goodness.

Dead Space 3 is the only one I know of that I'm anxious to see that we havent seen anything of yet. Past that? Not really, though there's always surprises.

Valve sitting this year out officially pisses me off, though.

One thing I'd like in this upcoming E3 is to learn things about new products at E3, and not see scooped announcements popping up on Joystiq or other aggregate blog sites long before then. I'm just curious how G4 is going to fare with Sessler/Pierra not a part of the crew - leaving most of the heavy lifting to Webb.

Good 3DS games would be a start. More Vita stuff too. Kind of meh to anything Wii U related. With all the good stuff pushed back to 2013 so far my only fall pre-order is AssCreed 3. I am open to being surprised by any left field announcements (Valve I'm looking at you)...

nope, just saw the end of Justin's post, sadness...what the fuck is going to show at E3 this year?

I don't care if they allow guns blazing as an option as long as it's not required.  Even in Blood Money it made for an awkward ending when you spend an entire game trying not to be noticed and they suddenly force you into a gun fight.  If they want to make full violence an option, whatever.  I'll still get in and out without being noticed, because that's the way it should be.

Mixed feelings on that Dishonored trailer.  It looks cool, but it also feels like a melting pot of stuff we've seen before.  A dash of Bioshock, throw in some Half Life 2, mix with Fable 3, and voila.  Still, I love the reworking of an old sea shanty.  That alone will probably get me to check it out.

As good as Dishonored looks and sounds, I just have this odd notion I can't shake that it's just not going to be very good. It also doesn't help that the last five non Fallout/Elder Scrolls games Bethesda have published are Rogue Warrior, Wet, Brink, Hunted, and Rage. Not exactly a great line up. Still, I hope that it turns out as good as it looks.

Oh, yeah, chances are pretty good we're gonna see a lot more of GTA V. So, there's that.

Here's what I expect from E3:

Microsoft - KINECT IS STILL AWESOME. Also, new Media Center stuff! WITH BING. oh, and Gears and Halo 4.

Sony - PLEASE GOD SOMEBODY BUY THE PS VITA AND OUR 3D TVs!

Nintendo - Hey, people are actually buying the 3DS now! Also we have this new console, look at how nice Wii Sports looks in 1080p!

It's funny, I've never once been arsed to actually finish a GTA game, but I'm always interested in seeing what they'll do next.

This is me exactly. I came closest with San Andreas, getting all the way to the Las Venturas section, but my interest in the main story always peters out before I reach the conclusion. And then I go buy the next installment on day one anyway. (Interesting note: This was not the case with Red Dead Redemption, which I tore through, start to finish.)

So far, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 has me most jazzed. The first one is still the most underrated game I played this generation.

These are not a bunch of random people making Dishonored. It could very well suck but I'm optimistic about it.

Another game I'm optimistic about, the new Tomb Raider:

The demo must not have done it any favors, because I remember barely tolerating it. Maybe i'll check it out again.

If it's just an option among others that can safely be ignored, I'm cool with it. If it marks a change of philosophy towards more whizzbang it could mean that even paying it as Hitman is supposed to be played will be a more diluted experience.

Stelios, Have you seen anything from...Injustice: Gods Among Us, the Justice League Fighter, where the opponent is the Injustice Gang?  The game looks...Super...Man!  I also hope there is a...3rd Marvel Vs Capcom 3, preferably with more...Avengers.  The Wasp would be...Wonderful, while...Loki, would be...THORoughly Awesome!

Vice City. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?

On another note, Tomb Raider looks terrific. I expect to legitimately care about the boobs - err, beautiful woman truly worthy of respect - that I'm trying to keep alive!

The biggest problem, which could turn out to be a blessing, is that everything we know we want (new consoles, new GTA, new Valve, etc.) has already been "pulled."  So, basically, it's all games we've seen.  Aha, but the blessing part!  Maybe there's a fuckload of NEW stuff to see for games we didn't know existed!

Also, Dishonored, holy shit.  That and AssCreed (well, ok, and Borderlands and Hitman) are all I give a damn about this holiday.

You should. The demo doesn't show shit. That game gets great later. And then the fucking post-credits....

You definitely should, especially since Lords of Shadow should be super-cheap by now. I know there are some Chewers around here that will back me up on this, too.

EDIT: Like Justin Clark just did.

Dishonored, GTA V, and Assassin's Creed III are about the only individual titles I'll be following this year. All right -- maybe the new XCOM, too.

I'm happy Epic yelled at MS and Sony about how we need some powerful next-gen consoles. Hopefully Unreal Engine 4 is a real winner this E3, even though it's basically just the newest UDK packaged up nicely for commercial release and console support.

Honestly not that excited for the new GTA. I am sure it will be visually impressive and I'll have fun with it at some point, but the last one, despite the care put into designing the world, just felt so boxed in gameplay wise compared to San Andreas.

Game I'm most hyped for right now would probably be Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (the first one is one of the best action/adventure games this generation IMO) and Ninja Raiden are the best things ive seen so far, and im looking forward to more Aliens: Colonial Marines and Dead Space 3.

But who know, maybe Capcom will announce the return of Strider...with Platinum Games developing it.

Yes, i am aware that is just a sweet dream of mine, just let me have it.

I won't lie--my interest in gaming has waned considerably, so there isn't that much I'm excited for.  If anything, I'll probably be keeping watching over the Wii-Uif only because it's a new console and I have a soft heart for all things Nintendo.

Though some GTA will be nice as well.

Lords of Shadow is legitimately a great action/adventure game.  The hacky story is well told and even has emotional resonance towards the end, and the visuals look like Del Toro and the Lord of the Rings films screwed, and then dressed up in Hammer film clothes.  The action is fun, the art direction is truly exceptional, the voice cast performs quite well, and the score is one of the best in videogame history.

And yes, the epilogue...

Not only that, but it is a LONG game with tremendous variety in setpieces, enemies, and locales to venture in.

The teaser for LoS2 is something else.

I really, really, really hope there will be solid news and footage of Thief 4 at E3 this year. Also, I hope it turns out as good or better than Deus Ex: Human Revolution did.

I keep for getting about Thief 4. Shameful of me.

Nintendo may have dropped a bit of a stealth bomb about the WiiU's online capabilities today.

Shsss, don't tell him that....

Favorite E3 moment was when the Houser brothers showed off GTA V and showed your guy getting into a Delorean. By punching in any specific year you could revisit any previous Rockstar game in their updated hd-ified glory. Being able to jump between Vice City, GTA 3, and Red Dead Redemption eras...futuristic Tokyo level is announced as +1 month dlc.

Nintendo came out declaring apology for the somewhat pathetic 3rd party efforts for the Wii, promised a $200 gift card subsidy for Wii U purchases on day1 who provide proof of purchase of the original Wii. Everyone was still kind of meh to the whole Wii U presentation until Elijah Wood and James Gann unveil a special Wilfred version of Nintendogs.

BioWare showcased clips of their revised ME3 ending dlc...to everyone's horror they used the same cave assets from Dragon Age 2 for every scene.

In front of the convention center you would have seen Curt Shilling selling autographs for $3500 a pop.

Sega is coming back to the Hardware industry. After consolodating their studios and restructuring the DreamCast 2 will ship with NVidia Kepler chips inside. Launch day, 2013, titles will include 4K resolution versions of Shenmue, Jet Set Radio 3, and Skies of Arcadia 2.

Other than that, kind of a slow E3.

I'm in.  Thanks for this BTW.  Those of us firewalled from many sites during the day appreciate it.

My Pipedream is a rerelease of Supreme Commander with the AI patched, and new maps and units.

And a new space combat sim.

Failing that, an interesting looking RTS.

Dead Space 3 don't look like Dead Space. Looks like Lost Planet.

Crysis 3 looks exactly like Crysis 2. Like EXACTLY like Crysis 2.

And the Battlefield premium thing was meh. I wish that the things that show up on the internet would come true sometimes. There was no dinosaur mode, and no 2152 comment. Lame. I can still dream though.
