Yeah, leaving Costner out would be a huge mistake.

 

Freeman seems a bit long in the tooth for this, but, hey, it's a movie. I'm sure they'll make him look spry enough.

 

Should we just go ahead and start lobbying for Fassy in this one, too?

Costner is supposedly up for the role of Britt (James Coburn).  Freeman is apparently being looked at for Calvera (Eli Wallach).

 

We can fancast Chico, Lee, Bernardo, and Harry until we're blue in the face, but the most important one at this point is Vin.  Who's going to be the McQueen to Cruise's Brynner?

 

And this seems to be moving FAST.  While I knew MGM has had this on their mind for years, I didn't expect it to get off the ground this quickly post-bankruptcy.  I just hope the script is great and they snag a really good director.

 

 

EDIT - If I were Daniel Craig, I'd lobby for a part in this as long as scheduling permits it.  Poor guy NEEDS a non-Bond hit.  I'd kinda like to see Viggo in this too.

Craig sounds great. Viggo for anything else, but Craig for the McQueen part.

 

How cool would it be if they steered clear of WB prettyboys for this?

Agreed. And I'd love Craig in this, not only for something non-Bond, but to help balance out COWBOYS & ALIENS.

Hell, I'd love for people like Craig and Viggo to be in this just so I can have people in this whose skin has seen the sun outside of a solarium and felt wind other their hairdresser's blowdryer.

Although to be honest, when I first saw Freeman's name, my thought was they were replacing the Mexican farmers with freed slaves, with Calvera being some former Confederate officer running around rogue or something.
