Fantastic column this week.

 

I think the only pro-VHS argument that holds water, is with watching Horror. The dark or washed out look of the format, accentuates the mood, making you feel like you're watching at some grindhouse theatre or second run drive-in.

Cropping the image also added to the sense of claustrophobia occasionally.
