Live action Anime with Rza, and Russell Crowe!

Got to be honest, I was expecting (and hoping for) a more traditional kung-fu film, especially from a scholar of the genre like RZA, but it looks fun enough. For the first 30 seconds, I was captivated, but then Rick Yune extracts floating CG strands of blood, which put me off. But, I did quite enjoy Golden Colossus (same thing I thought seeing the trailer). Oh, and it was painful listening to Liu tying to deliver those lines. But other than that, I am still in.

Sign me up. No problem at all with CG for the fights and the gore as long as it knows its CG and remains stylized. Of course I'm a fan of QT, Roth and RZA so I may have some preconceptions about this.

Yeah, Lucy Liu was sadly bad in Kill Bill and looks no better here. Or at least, she sounds no better here. She looks great.

I like the trailer overall though. It's very nicely bonkers.

Bucho, I thought that Lucy Liu was...Awesome in Kill Bill.  I thought she was properly...Animated and...ANIMEted.  Her fight with The Bride in the snow was the...2nd coolest fight, after taking out most of her Crazy 88's!, henchmen.  This film is how a film studio should approach...Mortal Kombat!  I cannot wait to see this.

Duke Fleed, I love that you loved Lucy Liu in Kill Bill and I wish I could have too because I've  had a mega-sized crush on that woman for aeons and I've seen her be very good in other movies. But there's a category of performances we might call Good Actors Who're Bad At Menacing Dialogue and sadly Lucy's performance in Kill Bill ranks second only to Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins for me.

Oh come on, Wilkinson was hilarious in "Batman Begins". He was the best kind of over-the-top, which I especially appreciated in such a generally low-key movie. His hamminess really perked things up. As for Liu, yeah, her performance was a little stiff and she didn't deliver the Tarantino dialog quite as naturally as many other actors have.

On the other hand, she looked terrific in her costumes and handled the physical demands of the role well. I know it's a little shallow to say her physical qualities make up for how she came up short in acting, but I'm just saying...there's at least one way you can justify her casting in that movie to say it wasn't a total bust.

Bucho,Lucy Liu was menacing...enough, when she killed one of her would be business partners for insulting her for her mixed race heritage.

Sure gentlemen, I have no beef with the notion that Lucy Liu was fine at all the stuff that didn't involve talking.

Tom Wilkinson gets a pass from me for the "I can't take it any more, it's all too much, the walls are closing in. Blah, blah, blah" bit.

ANYWAY. Holy shit, this film looks to be a fantastic and bizarre mix of weirdness I simply have to see.

I liked Liu's character in Payback.  I think that might be the only "villain" she's played well, at least that I can remember off the top of my head.  Didn't hate her in Kill Bill, but she certainly didn't stand out.

I prefer my Lucky Number Slevin Lucy Liu.

I don't know, I thought she nailed that speech to the council.

Looked pretty good for the first twenty five seconds.  Not sure I want to see swirls of CG blood...I was hoping for a bit of a more traditional kung fu feel, but oh well.

Is it just me, or is there now a plethora of genre mishmashing over the past couple years?... And I still haven't seen SUKIYAKI WESTERN DJANGO, THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE WEIRD, BUNRAKU, or THE WARRIOR'S WAY yet...

But this looks lush and Mortal Kombat-y, so.......cool.

Darkmite8, Yes this is...Properly...Over The Top!  I would...Love to see this kind of style for a...Big Budget....STREET FIGHTER FILM!  Til that happens TMWTIF will provide enough...Kicks and all the...Punch, that a fan of Martial Arts films could want!
