Steam Summer Sale going on now! - Page 4

Does anyone have any idea how long this sale is going on?  I'm not sure if I can afford for it to go on much longer.

Another 8 days or so.  It's about two weeks total.

Yeah, I hear that the Duke multi is fine, but to me, it means owning Duke.  Look, it's not like it's the worst game ever, it's just not very good.  It's money that can be spent elsewhere, in my opinion.

Holy crap.  I though it was probably going to be only like three days.  Then it kept going. I may need a bigger hard drive when this is all said and done.

That's a terrible price for Sniper Elite V2, but the game is kinda fun.  It plays like a basic 3rd person stealthy sniper game...until you fire a round into some poor fool.  Then it goes all slow mo, bullet time. And then the bullet hits and it's insanely graphic, X-Ray Mortal Kombat style, bullet shattering the skull and exploding the eyeball kills.  Or popping both testicles

I think it's still $15 on Amazon AND it's a Steamworks game, which means you just take the code, enter it into Steam and boom, you've got a new game in your collection.

This sale is giving me tons of games to play with people and I have like six people on my steam friends. So begging for friends in this thread, Dedant on steam. Come be the only other English speaking person playing Company of Heroes with me.

Whoa, Tony Ryan! Is that you?

I'm Jacob Singer on Steam, btw.

Is Binary Domain worth 13 bucks? I didn't love the demo, but I only gave the demo about five minutes to wow me before shutting it off.

Orcs Must Die is AMAZING.

I didn't like Binary Domain, I didn't like the feel of it.  But maybe the Giant Bomb guys can show you another way...

And yes, Orcs Must Die is very cool.  It's a combo tower defense, Tecmo's Deception.  Have you seen the stuff for the sequel? Two player co-op...

Yep. Don't make it around these parts much, but I like to keep in touch where I can. Like Steam for example.

My favorite comment on reddit, ever:

Train Simulator 2012 for $3.49?

I am going to buy this, aren't I? Has it really come to this?

Choo Choo motherfuckers!

Another thumbs up to Mongy for being such a generous bastard.

Ok, The Walking Dead is really fucking good.  If that goes on sale again, hit it!

If I don't catch it for cheaper by the 23rd, I'll be picking it up for a lousy 25% off.

In the spirit of that  - I'm NotAGun on Steam but I haven't done much (any) multi-player besides a few free MMOs.

As soon as I get my rig (hopefully within a year) I am multiplaying all your arses.

...okay that came out wrong.

I thought the sale only lasted a week and was looking forward to Thursday roll around after buying and gifting my way through the weekend. It's hard to refuse some of these titles when they're cheaper than when I rented them in the past. I don't think my hard drive can take much more.

Bought Cave Story+, Dead Space 1/2, Half-Life 2, Ep. 1/2 and Tomb Raider Anniversary, Mirror's Edge so far. Still have the humble bundle, LA Noire and Deus Ex to play from before. Some of these deals can wait a year (Sorry Grand Theft Auto).

Steam ID is my old alias, darthchocula. I've got Left 3 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal 2 and Dead Space 2 on tap for multiplayer. And Ricochet.

I'm MechaStatham on Steam. Definitely up for some Borderlandsing, some Chewer Payday sessions would be a laugh too I reckon. Also have TF2 and Killing Floor uninstalled ATM, but could be persuaded to get them set up again if Chewer games are in the offing.

Anybody interested in Monday Night Combat?  I seem to have one sitting in my account ready to be gifted that I must have acquired through some Steam giveaway at some point.

And, sent to Rain Dog.  Enjoy.

What did you find in killing floor that is particularly appealing Specialist?

Also Payday: The Heist - it's not survival horror but it is L4D + bank heists.

it is more varied then left 4 dead in terms of weapons and gameplay. Plus it has like a class system. I don't own it sadly :/ i played at a friends house for hours though and could not stop! Coop is awesome

can anyone give me opinions on just cause 2? how long before it gets boring? i mean 3.75 is A LOT of money so....

Just Cause 2 has an absolute BEAST of a map and there's a ton to do.

$3.75 might be pushing it though, hahaha.

il watch some bideos then thanks! nice to know it will be money well spent haha

$3.75?!?!?! What are you guys thinking? You could do SO MUCH MORE with that money!

Like buy a 3-pack of gum. What a waste if you do end up spending it on Just Cause 2!

you cant buy gum with a steam card though! that was my first instinct though

Wow, just finished Q.U.B.E. from the start to the end in 2.7 hours according to steam. A little too short as I felt that new combinations could have come up in their ever evolving puzzle system, but as a plus I never got the feeling that I was playing through rehashes of puzzles I solved ten minutes ago and the ending has a good wow factor. I love myself some First Person Puzzle games and Q.U.B.E. turned out to be quite satisfying if a little short on story. I'd recommend it if you see it reappear for 75% off.

Anybody else have non-portal FPP games to recommend?

The only one I can find that fits the bill is Quantum Conundrum and that's too new to get any significant chunk taken out of its price.

Also, I love this thread.

I'd be up for some co-op puzzle solving in Portal 2 if someone is interested. I just joined the CHUD.com user group and my handle is darklingscribe.

I got this last summer, I believe.  I usually go to that if I've had a bad day and simply need some unstructured sandbox mayhem ... by which I mean you advance by acquiring "chaos" points.  What's not to love?

And I've had some bad days haha thanks I think I'm getting it
post #186 of 363

BTW, there is a CHUD steam group. You can see who is playing on Steam from the CHUD sewers.

@Civ V. I bought it last year and played with some Chud players. Multiplayer is just too long, and getting play times coordinated and not have a game issue was kind of hard.  I just bought the Gods and Kings expansion for Civ V. It is hands down better than Civ IV for me. I have played Civ since Civ III. Civ V does nice things with religion that really makes it worthwhile. I won a UN vote last night only because I chose the proper religious aspects that later fueled my science (Ahh, you Swedish jungle loving people who, with their Celtic allies, crushed Attila the Hun and Isabella. I know this sounds a lot like the Civ 5 article online from a couple weeks ago, but the cultures were random. ) I nearly lost early on because of some severe setbacks with Attila and Isabella. I am digging it hard. I have played 5 full games, standard maps, 12 city-states, etc, and am loving it.

Civilization V: The Celtic Chronicle is tons of fun to read. It is an Age by Age account of one player's game. Almost makes me want to do the same with my games (minus the slide show format...cause that is a pain to read. )

I mostly play single-player (ok, pretty much exclusively), but I'm in the CHUD group with the name CHUXBRONSON986. So far I've grabbed Darksiders, Ys Origin, Legend of Grimock, Trine 2, Indie Bundle 2, the Dungeon Siege Pack, and Metro 2033, not to mention a few awesome gifts from the very awesome mongycore. To answer my previous question in the thread, yes, the sale does own me.

I'm going to have to join the Chud group as soon I figure out how.  Once again, I'm Dalynm. I usually only play single player, and probably still will for a while (Alpha Protocol and Hitman: Blood Money), but when Borderlands 2 comes out, I just may be down for some multiplayer.  I played through the first one single player, but I keep hearing that it's way fun multiplayer.  I may also have to get a headset with microphone (is that what they call those whatchamacallits these days?).

I'm in the CHUD group too, DailyRich.

Just Cause 2 is pretty goddamn fun.  And again, since it's PC, you can get some sweet mods, including unbreakable and infinitely long cable.  It's one of those video game ass video games, like Saint's Row the Third, where it cares more about being fun than anything else.  And it looks really good!

Killing Floor is L4D with all the story and creepiness stripped away and a Counter-Strike purchase system stuck in.  It's fun, but it doesn't have charm or polish of L4D.  But with a couple of buds, it's def a good time.

And if you haven't played Bioshock, do it.  It's a modern classic for a reason.

Just Cause 2 is a glorious game. It may be the only game that fully leverages the point of an open world.

Yeah, Just Cause 2 is an absolute blast. I've never managed to make it that far in the game because I always get caught up making stuff go boom in the most gleefully insane ways possible. Also, great mods. GREAT mods.

Indeed, JC2 is fucknuts fun. You can fifnish the story campaign in no time, and you have this amazing sandbox to play in.

Sold.  I'll have to pick up JC2 when I get home.  It will probably sit in my games list uninstalled for a while, but I can't pass it up at that price.

Ok, here's an update, because I've played a ton of games.  I don't know if that's sad or not.  Oh, well.

STALKER series.  If you can only get one, get Pripyat.  But get at least one.  Clear Skys is the redheaded stepchild of the bunch.  It's a hella good series, though.

LA Noire.  I liked it.  It's an adventure game, not a GTA game.  I had no major problems with characters or story, but I recognize that others do.  For $5, it's majorly worth it.

Carpe Fulgar Collection.  I'm buying Fortune Summoners because Reccetear is a delight.  It's a JRPG where you play as the shop owner all the heroes buy from, because your dad took out a loan and then died and you have to pay it back or go bankrupt.  It's hilarious and fun.  The whole pack is good if you can stomach Japanese shit.

Thief bundle...you should be shot if you don't own the Thief games. The BEST sneaky games ever.

Meat Boy is great if you hate yourself.  It's very well made.

Indie Bundle (a couple of Giant Bomb Quick Look links, cause GB is great) - Dredmore is a funny roguelike. I rather enjoyed it. QUBE I just bought, haven't played yet. Avadon is old school CRPG goodness.  Vessel is a cool, steampunky, fluid dynamics puzzler. Zombie Driver is a silly little top down action game where you drive over zombies and shoot them.

Also, Need For Speed Most Wanted is VERY GOOD.  It's by the Burnout guys.

Also, beg, borrow or steal to get Bastion, one of last year's best games.  It's amazing and the soundtrack is super fantastic, too.

Ah, now that it's changed...Old Sins, Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity (love that name) is $5.  Is good, is very good.  Real time strategy game, bordering on 4x territory.  Looks great, too.

All Total War games on sale.  They're a mix of real time strategy combat and turn based strategy world building.  I've only played Rom and Medi.  When you go to fight someone in Rome, your general marches in front of your troops, giving a rousing, "Kick their asses and send them to Hell for ROME!" speech that is badfuckingass.

Dunno if I can pass up Call of Pripyat for $3.74.

Problem is, I'll never play it. I've lost count of the amount of times I downloaded Shadow, played for an hour, and then uninstalled. Not because I didn't like it, but because I swore that I wouldn't ruin the awesome experience I knew I would have until I got a rig that could handle it with max settings and mods.

I was coming in to ask about this, consider that bundle bought.

Danmit mediumdave, I think I might have to buy the Stalker series because of you.

The Carpe Fulgar Collection also intrigues me. I love the idea behind it, but it seems like it would prove to be a giant time sink and I loathe randomly generated dungeons, though I can't really put my finger on why.

ya mediumdave whats wrong with you now im gonna have to buy total war stalker and theif series!!!! haha btw whats the CHUD group picture on steam so i know which one? my name on steam is LEBspecialist

It is the Chud.Com group, with a Sewer cover and Chud.com in front of it. The normal green and black.
