It wouldn’t be such a bad thing, I think, if more comedies sold themselves off of their abundant outtakes and improvisations- it’s nice to get a feel for things without ruining punchlines. The Watch has not been a film I’ve noticed gaining a lot of traction with the nerdier film core, but these are funny guys that have been put together, and this half-trailer/half-gag reel suggests any alien plot is really just an excuse to get them doing their thing.
The vague twitter reactions I’ve seen so far haven’t been half bad either, so perhaps Akiva Schaffer’s action comedy will be worth the trip!
