M. Night Shyamalan to executive produce, direct pilot of new Syfy series

The Syfy release announcing the deal says that Shyamalan "intends to direct" the pilot.
 
Of the "Proof" plot, Syfy says it focuses on the son of a billionaire tech genius who offers a large reward for proof of life after death following the death of his parents.

Damn, I thought by the title it'd be the graphic novel series Proof. (It's like Hellboy, but stars Bigfoot as he and his team find American mythological creatures and evidence that Proof isn't the last Bigfoot.) Proof is great.

Whatever happened to his Night Chronicles series of films? I guess Devil didn't exactly set the world on fire and he went to TV instead.

Considering Night's previous movies, I'm surprised he didn't choose to make an anthology series with Syfy.

 

He could have finally got all those twist endings he loves so much out of his system.

There's still a director and screenwriter attached to the second film, but it's been almost two years since there was any news on its progress.

 

I'm guessing the Night Chronicles idea has been stalled and this is Shyamalan's way of moving forward.

Heh, was expecting some permutation of "The Scary Door".

 

I'll probably catch the first ep, then wait til it's cancelled before deleting the other episodes unwatched.
