The shark is indeed still working.

Great write up, when it comes down to it, this might be my favorite movie too. It never fails to pull me in always leaves me feeling sated. As I was reading this I got a pop up notifying me that Amazon has just shipped my copy, so now I am amped.

Not only is it a gift to film lovers, it's also a gift to filmmakers, serving as the prime example that showing less is much more effective dramatically; and also as a reminder to roll with whatever problems a shoot throws at you (and life too).

All those supplements and restored pic? SOLD!

I also recommend getting Carl Gottlieb's The Jaws Log. Great read, and - for any youngsters out there - a great gateway into how a movie gets made.

Oh fuck me, do I want this blu. Now. Like, Now.

Also, that Dreyfuss caption is gold.

I actually want to watch Jaws todayrightnow. But I guess I can wait until the Amazon order shows up. Ugh, the hardship.

Looking forward to everyone's reports on the Blu.

Picked the digibook version up at Best Buy earlier and I can't wait to dive in.

The transfer is magnificent. I haven't dived into the extras yet, but the film has never looked better.

This review does not address the issue that most concerns me, and that is whether or not this release offers the option of the original mono track.

That was my concern as well.  It does, but apparently it's not lossless, it's a lossy mono track.  I know there were alot of fans upset with the 5.1 mix on the last DVD set, so I was also looking for some more info.  I watched it last night, and just switching back and forth from the 7.1 mix to the mono track, there's quite a bit of difference. Roy Scheider's famous line at the end is more audible on the mono track.  On the 7.1, you don't really hear the word "bitch".  I realize that can be seen as incredibly nitpicky, but it's such a great scene/climax, I don't really want it altered in any way.

Kevin beat me to it.

I was not able to find this at any of the Best Buys I went to yesterday.  Either they sold out fast or my stores just never got them in.

I'd aslo like to add that the Dreyfuss caption is fantastic.  Well done, Josh!  Thanks for the chuckle.

I ended up visiting two Best Buys yesterday.  One in the morning and another in the late afternoon, since I was in the area.  The first one had only had a bout 10 copies of the digibook in stock shortly after opening.  The latter (where I ended up buying it) only had two left.  I'm guessing they either didn't get a lot of them in for the first day....or they are just too lazy to restock (which happens a lot at the one closest to my home).  If you haven't bought it already, check back on Saturday morning when Hunger Games hits shelves.  I guarantee they'll have more copies of it out by then, if not before.

I'm enjoying how many pics of the Blu are popping up in my Facebook feed. I suspect this Blu is selling well.

It certainly was on Day One.  I had to drive to the Best Buy the next town over because the one nearby had already sold out.

Anyway, I haven't watched the film itself just yet, but I've already torn through the superb docs.  I'd seen the Bouzreau one before, but it's always been a favorite.  Holding off on the film because the wife wants to watch it with me.  She's only seen it once before and that was over 10 years ago.

Had this on my Amazon wishlist since it was announced, but never preordered it. Then saw it in the store last week and I just couldn't resist, even if it says "Der Weisse Hai" on the cover.

Got home, put my kid to bed and decided to check the picture quality and spent over an hour going through my favorite scenes. Also checked the new documentary, which made me very curious about the Jaws Log book Joshua already mentioned earlier.

Definitely worth the purchase.
