If we don’t get a cousin named Scooby-Doink, this is all for nothing.

Can you smellllll-la-la-la-la-ow…what WWE is cookin’?!?  Scooby can and he says it’s dericious!

Warner Bros. and WWE Studios have announced that they will be co-producing a new Scooby-Doo animated film together that is set in the WWE Universe.  While they aren’t getting ballsy enough to take it theatrical, expect the project to hit VOD, Blu-ray, DVD, etc. sometime in 2014.  WB will be handling the distribution and WWE will tackle the marketing side of things.  Who cares about the technical details though!  Let’s get on to the fun stuff…

When Shaggy and Scooby win tickets to WrestleMania, the entire gang travels in the Mystery Machine to WWE City to attend the epic event. However, when a mysterious ghostly bear appears and threatens to ruin the show, Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred work with WWE Superstars to solve the case.

Pure.  Fried.  Gold.  On the wrestling side of things, the following have already been confirmed to voice their characters in animated form:  John Cena, Triple H, The Miz, Kane, Brodus Clay, Santino Marella, A.J., Sin Cara, and CEO Vince McMahon.  I’m sure more will join the line-up as time goes on.

Your new Leprechaun. Not even joking.

Like most, I watched Scooby-Doo religiously when I was little.  While I still catch myself watching old episodes on television from time to time, I haven’t kept up with the characters and have no idea what the current quality of the franchise is.  I will definitely check this out though.  For those of you who don’t know, my wife is a big professional wrestling fan.  While I have no real interest in the sport as a whole, I have been exposed to enough of it to laugh at the sheer over-the-top ridiculousness on display from week to week.  Definitely enough to know that this will be an interesting watch, regardless of the final quality of the proje itself.

WWE Studios has been working overtime recently.  While they have all but given up on theatrical projects*, there is an onslaught of DTV films on the way.  Sequels to The Marine (with The Miz), 12 Rounds (with Randy Orton), and See No Evil are all in various stages of development.  They are also launching a Leprechaun premakequel, sans Warwick Davis, just for our own Joshua Miller.  Just kidding, although its inevitable Franchise Me piece will likely be one of the only professional reviews it ever sees outside of Blu-Ray/DVD-centric news outlets.  It was only a matter of time before they started pushing even harder to hook the little ones in and doing a Scooby-Doo movie seems a surefire way of accomplishing that goal.

The only way this could be even more exciting is if it were live action and said mysterious bear turned out to be the one from Joseph Khan’s Detention.

SWEET CHIN-WHISKER MUSIC!
