That interview with the showrunners is quite something. I think it was Incognito kicking himself for reading showrunner interviews earlier in this thread, and I agree with him after this part:

 

"Emotional equilibrium"? I don't know, for someone whose senses are dulled by medication, she seems awfully tense.

 

We've seen her off her meds (last season and this). There was a big difference.

 

I just think the one thing Claire Danes and her eyes can't play is sleepy.

Thing I'm most excited for next season: F. Murray Abraham's no doubt expanded role of "leader of the pack of trained government killers sent into the woods to try and kill Grizzly Adams Brody." 

Dana: "I talked to my dad earlier. I was here when he was getting ready."

CIA Guy: "What did you talk about?"

Dana: "Nothing. Normal stuff. He...he wasn't acting strangely."

CIA Guy: "How do you know?"

Dana: "He's my dad. I just do. He didn't do this."

CIA Guy: "Why do you do that shit with your sleeves?"

Dana: "Huh?"

CIA Guy: "Hold your sleeves over your hands. Why do you do that?"

Dana: "..."

CIA Guy: "It's dumb."

CIA Guy: "I'm calling it in."

Come on. This show's had moments THIS SEASON that were among the very best I've seen on television all year. (And, uh, yeah -- they all came in the first half.)

I'll be the first to admit that it hasn't been 24-level silliness all the way through but no I don't really think there's been a moment when its approached being the smartest show on TV. Even Q&A, this season's best episode, was mostly held up by the acting. The actual mechanics of how she broke Brody I personally found to be kind of ludicrous.

Even-handed thinking has no place on these boards! Shows are either rectal cancer or the best thing ever... unless other people think they're the best thing ever, in which case they're overrated double rectal cancer!

Way to be semantic about my joke. But in all honesty, while it's never been the smartest, it was at least pretty smart through most of the first season and for almost half of the second. 

 

Haha sorry I'm not trying to be a pedant, was merely struck by what you said because it implied that there were moments when you thought the show was amazingly smart. For me it's constantly shuttled between dumb, as you mentioned, and the sort of good you might expect from a really good episode of Dexter or The Walking Dead. Truth is that even at its best it's been damn good drama with a seriously shitty handle on the terrorist situation.

Gotta say I was disappointed in the finale. I figured they would re-boot the show, setting up the next season's fresh adventure, leaving some of the cast alive to continue. The big explosion was somehow lame. Letting Brody go was kinda expected. Now I guess he'll turn up in a couple years as a bad guy. I've gotta decide to watch or not when it begins again next year.

Tore through both seasons the past couple of weeks. Nothing really of note to add to the thread that hasn't already been discussed. Somewhere on the cutting room floor that drunk marine guy is doing his Grounds Keeper Willie, "I Warned Ya", line to other drunks in a bar watching the news.

- I hate the opening credits to the show. My hate continued to grow with each passing episode. Mainly due to...

- Claire Danes psychotic whiny voice/crying antics that rivaled the shit Starbuck did in the latter half of Battlestar's run. We're going the wrong way....

- I felt bad for the Brody's son. Nobody notices him, he's always playing off brand xbox games.

- Fucking hell the daughter grew to be tiresome. I was half hoping her and the whatever the kids name would die horribly when they were joyriding through town. One out of two ain't bad.

- Did they fire the pervy producer on loan from Game of Thrones in the second season?

- Mmmm, sweet delicious Skype. If it's good enough for the CIA then it's good enough for a regular shmoe like me to use.

Look forward to the next season, slight annoyances aside, some decent tv to be had. Think now we'll use our showtime sub to catch up on Dexter.
