30 Rock 7th and Final season

Time to get excited and sad....

I am very happy to see some new episodes after so long.

I've caught some of season 6 recently in reruns and damn if it was just as funny as the other seasons.

They're sure going scorched earth on NBC, ain't they?

You're not wrong. Even Hazel, who I wasn't sure about at first, turned out to be a slice of comedic gold.

"It's a blessing AND a purse."

This season is going to be epic.

"why are they blue?"

Aside from the God Cop stuff, I thought it was a weak episode.

I liked it. Nagging me throughout was the feeling that whoever came up with the Paas Easter Egg bits had overheard Patton Oswalt's Paas material, and maybe unknowingly ripped him off. I dunno, it's such a specific thing, right down to the tyrannical executive.

This show is more dense with jokes than the core of a neutron star. It's almost too much.

the tv shows were killing me...

"Homonyms"

"Joe Rogan is Mandela"

"Hunchbacks"

"Tank It"

I hear you loud and clear but it's one of the things which makes it the most re-watchable modern sitcom too, because there are often things you miss on the first pass. With other shows it feels like the jokes can be spread a little thin, but with 30 Rock they're so thick it can be hard to penetrate them on the first bite.

That's a crappy analogy, but I need to keep up with my goal of inserting the word "penetrate" into every entry I make on social meida this weekend. (Heh, I said "inserting".)

-So, shall we conversation?

-Yes. We're having weather.

-Much weather!

This is how all my small talk in social occasions goes.

I rewatched last nights episode online today and noticed something odd.

On TV last night, Tracy shows up at Kenneth and Hazel's 'party', Kenneth takes Tracy's coat, opens the closet and there is a real old man sitting in there. Kenneth throws the coat on top of him and closes the door.

Watching it online, you don't see Kenneth putting the coat in the closet at all...no old man...just Kenneth going back to talking to Tracy  ??

"Watch the pilot, Lemon. It's all explained by the wise black man played by Karl Malone."

"I WILL NOT HAVE YOU TELLING ME BOAT NAMES IN MY OWN OFFICE!"

"No, I bought them at the dead dove store.  Grow up, Liz."

This show still has the best joke-writing on television.  Will be sorry to see it go.

"There's nothing worse than a surprise Lemon party."

I recall that gag from a preview on Hulu.  I watched live, and I'm pretty sure it had been cut from the broadcast version.  It's also missing from the, er, less than legal online version ripped from said broadcast version.

Particularly loved some of the smaller throwaway gags.  Liz quietly whispering Honey Boo Boo's mom's name when Jenna mentions her ("It's June.") and Kenneth's Dharma Initiative ice cream.  Also, Jonathan Silverman's big comeback role in Hunchbacks.

For some reason, the Dharma ice cream being in a Chinese take-out container made me laugh.  Homonyms was probably the highlight overall.

"It's always the other one!  Let me see the card!"

"No!...NEVER."

It's the affronted delivery of "NEVER" that kills me.

C'mon, no mention of last night's ep? Bryan Cranston? Hello?

Romney/Dunston 2012!

Just watched it.

"A Mormon? Now, that's crazy."

Thought that was a pretty great episode.

I could watch Tina Fey organize and plan all day.

I think they are giving AD a run for their money with the amount of humor crammed into each episode...

-Jack's conference call with Rafalca

-"Mama... I am not a person. My body's just a flesh vessel, for an immortal being whose name if you heard it would make you lose your mind."

-"It's like I'm Don Draper and you're Megan. Okay, you can be Don Draper. No, you're Glen and I'm Sally!"

-Balls, Balls, Balls

-White Out

"You're Glen and I'm Sally."

How could I forget that. So wrong. But so right.

Edit: I just now got that "Remember that kid that used to bully you at school?" joke. Shit.

After hearing about Kenneth's moms friend Ron for so long it makes it that much funnier that it ends up being Bryan Cranston. Now he's the one I'm going to imagine helping Kenneth's mom "do her paperwork"

Kriss erotically showering Liz with paper clips was the best laugh of the night.  Although the return of Cooter Burger was a nice surprise.

"I have herpes, and the Dixie Mafia is trying to kill me"

Justified references are now on 30 Rock ... Welcome to the big leagues Raylan.

Just watched it again. This episode is so fucking hilarious. In terms of laughs per minute, this may be one of my favorite 30 Rock episode ever. Well, top 10 at least. "The FBI claimed it was the cause of a spike in summer sex crimes..." "I'll have my Jews on you so fast you'll think you're an asian girl!"

The final shot of that was Marsden dropping the paper clip container on her face, which certainly looked like a blooper.

Pretty good episode this week. Pales compared to last week's though.

I though it had one of the less grating Jenna plotlines ever though.

This show it too good to end.

This has been one of the best starts to a season the show has ever had. I wonder if the upcoming end is revitalizing them creatively, or they're just clicking all of the sudden. Since this is probably my favorite comedy that's actually airing right now (excluding some stuff with weird seasons or that's been delayed), it really pains me that we have only ten episodes left.

So does the show end with TGS being cancelled, or NBC going belly-up?

Given the not so subtle jabs at the network throughout the entire series, I'm really hoping it's the latter.  SHUT IT DOWN!

Loved #plotpoint on Tracy's tweet.

"If I told you my sex stories, YOU WOULD LOSE YOUR MIND!"

God, I love Sue.

With this and that short with Patrick Stewart and Simon Pegg, Lochte seems to be enjoying himself. And being a good sport about it, too.

I was a little disappointed with this last episode, but upon re-viewing, I stand corrected. Lots of great bits.

the first time I watched it, I couldn't figure out what Jenna was doing when she was "answering her fan mail"....now I see that she was rubbing sandwich meat on panties and putting them in envelopes to be mailed out to her fans.   This show can be pretty god-damned twisted sometimes.

LOVED that bit.  So bizarre, so offhand.

"Ed Begley Jr. couldn't make it because the sail on his car broke"

Jack's Super-Pac  "Americans for an American America"

Garrett Romney is going to be God of a planet, that would be blasphemous.  He's just going to inherit it.

"HOW DARE YOU TALK THAT WAY IN FRONT OF THE PILE???"

Liz's running out of Jack's office flailing her arms at the prospect of a shrimp buffet makes up for all of her hair and makeup commercials.

I totally missed that part! Time for a rewatch, this season is brilliant.

Why is this on right now?

Alec Baldwin on 30 Rock is the greatest thing to ever happen to television.  I'll be watching these episodes over and over again until I die.

again, I was thinking that this wasn't the best of episodes but upon re-watching it (again) there are so many little bits that yes, it was great (again)

I got about halfway through this thread before I realized that you guys weren't talking about a resurrected 3rd Rock from the Sun. (a guilty pleasure of mine).

Long ass day.  I just felt the need to expose my epic level of idiocy for all to see.  Yay me.  As you were.
