Very interested on how they'll approach Deathstroke next week.

felix, Perhaps by the...Stroke of...9pm, there will be...Death by...Arrow!

I'm treating this as an AU version of the Green Arrow. The original Oliver Queen wasn't this serious. I don't even know who this guy is. But the plot is decent, if I go in with the view that this isn't the real Ollie Queen. But if they make that whiny, pansy little princess Laurel the Black Canary, I quit. Seriously.

Mauve Avenger, Why is that a problem? Dinah Laurel Lance...Is Black Canary in the Comics!  Hey...Thea (Oliver's Sister), might become his sidekick Speedy!  Apparently  Thea Queen in more recent comics is...Speedy 2!  To me Arrow, is getting Better and Better!  I hope Oliver has to come up with a new HQ and go on the run, so he doesn't have to stay at the family mansion when he is...unBOWed!

This is like the anti-Smallville. They have been through more plot in this than in two seasons of that bore.

Yeah, there's all kinds of plots and sub-plots going on.  I really like it so far.  I tried watching Smallville in the beginning, but the whole "he's got powers but only shows them for about 13 seconds at the end of the show" got old with me.

Superman didn't fly until the, what, seventh season? If he did fly at all.

In my sporadic watching of Smallville I found myself liking, actually liking not merely tolerating, two episodes. The one with Christopher Reeve that also used the movie's score in one of his scenes and the one with the old JSA. And they even managed to mar it by having some dumb little punk taking them out with no problem. How can you ruin anything with Dr. Fate in it?

He flew in the last ten minutes of the series finale.

Yes, Dinah Laurel Lance is indeed Black Canary in the comic series, but THIS particular version of her becoming BC would be a travesty. I don't like her. I don't like her attitude. I don't think she could fill the shoes of the woman who once LED THE JUSTICE LEAGUE. And I don't particularly care for the fact that they changed her back story so  drastically. I get that it wouldn't make much sense for Laurel to be the daughter of the original Black Canary in this continuity, but could they give her a father who treats her like she's a 30 something year old woman, and not 15? Also, I liked the original Speedy. He was interesting. A teen father over coming drug additions (until the nimrods at DC decided to kill the little girl off...for shock value!). I get that Thea is an addict herself, but to be honest, I don't much care for her, either. In fact I think my favorite character in the series might actually be Digg. That's including Oliver "What's Due Process" Queen.

CW's ARROW pic of The HUNTRESS

Ugly. Looks like a low budget Catwoman.

Mauve Avenger, I prefer the filmmakers not go with the...2nd Speedy, as I would prefer Ollie's sister to be a...New Sidekick.  Actually Dinah's mother has been dead before the series aired, so there actually is no contradiction there.  It is not like in Birds Of Prey, where Dinah is the mother of the...3rd Black Canary or something.  I like this incarnation of Dinah Laurel Lance alot. So I hope she does become Black Canary.  I wonder how much they will change her costume.

felix, Just like with Hawkeye in The Avengers, the mask was changed.  Also, like with Hawkeye, she isn't wearing Purple.  It doesn't look bad, but it clearly is not her comics costume.

I actually thought her purple comic costume was kinda cool, fleed.

This version doesn't work for me sadly. Looks less flamboyent and too gritty.

felix, I know I am in the minority, but I like the...Majority of Superhero Costumes in the comics.  I like Huntress's Comic outfit alot more.

I never got that sentiment. I was equally baffled by those who wanted Wolverine to have his stupid costume in the X-Men movies.

stelios, What is wrong with Wolverine's Costume?  I think it is...X-Cellent myself!  I have no problem with comic book costumes in film or tv!

So, judging from the preview for next week, the Royal Flush Gang are the crew from Heat but with playing card symbols on their masks?

Just wanted to point that out to anyone who may have missed it since it was buried at the bottom of the last page.

I think Duke may have finally interested me in this show. Bravo.

I've watched six episodes of Vampire Diaries and just couldn't do it anymore.  Kudos to those who enjoy it, but like Buffy/Angel, it just isn't for me.

I am, however, enjoying this show.  It's a very flawed, but it seems to be improving each week and I'm digging the slow dishing out of the actual origin story.  I also love that we will be 6 episodes deep this week and will have been given 5 lower-tier DC villains thus far.....none of which have been unceremoniously killed.  Also, while I know the producers have said "no powers", I think that it would be a severe mistake for WB & DC to not consider marrying this show with the "DC Movieverse" that they are attempting to start up with Man of Steel (2013) and Justice League (2015), especially in light of the fact that Marvel will likely have the SHIELD television series on the air by next fall.

Marvel is already 6 films deep on their Movieverse and that number will be have doubled by the end of 2015, with an on-going in-continuity television show running alongside them.  DC will only have two films at that point.  They've lost the theatrical battle, but having this show exist outside of the Smallville continuity is providing them with an advantage to get ahead of Marvel on TV.  It won't take much.  Just have a reference in the Supes flick in the form of a newspaper or magazine or a news blurb on TV in the background.  Same goes for Justice League.  And then if everything takes off for them like they hope, maybe toss Ollie into JL 2.  And if not?  Well, you still have a successful TV loosely tied to your big guns (Supes & Bats).  No need for cameos, just use Arrow to expand the Movieverse in small ways.  It just seems like a no-brainer to me.

Also, Vertigo is confirmed for an appearance in the second half of this season.

S.D. Bob Plissken, This show might be a good place for David Goyer's...Superjail Idea.  You could even do 4 or 5 eps of Ollie in prison.

The Royal Flush gang appeared, robbed banks, and gave Ollie, a chance to go after street crime for once, instead of the corporate villains of previous weeks.  I am excited to see...The Huntress on November 28th.  So not many are watching this?

Maybe not many here, but it has been given a full season order and will likely get renewed for a second season.  It's one of CW's biggest shows now.

Wonder how they'll handle The Huntress?

S.D. Bob Plissken, If Arrow is...GREENlit for a 2nd Season, that would be...Awesome!  It is about time, that the CW had a proper Superhero Series.  Sure, the heroes and villains might be deprived of...Superpowers, but I like this approach, instead of a young Superman show where the Kal-El, doesn't fly til the final moments of a series that ran for 10 years.  At least Ollie shoots arrows, and tries to romance Dinah.  I hope she becomes Black Canary in the 2nd half of season 1!

felix, It does look like Huntress' Costume has changed from the comics.  Purple doesn't seem to be too fashionable these days as both...Hawkeye in The Avengers and now Huntress have ditched the primary color in their attire for more basic black.  In the clip for the next ep...November 28th, she seems to be wearing sunglasses instead of a mask and leather instead of her comic book costume.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I was reading up on Green Arrow, and apparently the more recent version of the character in the comics was dark and gritty, and wasn't actually referred to as "Green Arrow" in the books. So that approach doesn't seem to be something the CW is completely pulling out of their behind.

Also, Deathstroke *looked* awesome, but didn't get to do much. The fight scene everyone's raving about was like five seconds long.

Did you guys hear that Lincoln Lee is playing Vertigo?

TonyB79, I do not remember Vertigo from the comics, but I...Love seeing The Huntress!  I think it would be neat to see Dinah Laurel Lance fight for her rights in her tights as Black Canary.  Also, Deathstroke The Terminatior was just added to the roster of Injustice Gods Among Us!  I hope a certain...Canary, will...Sing in the newest fighting game by the creator of many...Mortal Kombatants!

Yeah, Mike Grell's run from the 80's seems to be the obvious inspiration for the show's style. Grell's run had no one being called by a superhero name, no superpowers, and dealt with Ollie killing badguys. The show isn't as good as that run of comics but it is building decently.

The latest episode was another slight uptick in quality, Helena was handled pretty well(and I liked the actress), they keep going back to the lethality of Oliver's actions which is always a plus, making Captain Jack Papa Merlyn is a really good move for getting the Tommy/Laurel storyline intertwined with the central plot. So, yeah, the show is continuing to be its solid self.

Only real problem I had was the wasting of Tahmoh Penikett, he would've been a good choice for a hunky Deathstroke, 'cause you know he'll be hunky. Or Catman. The world needs Catman.

As much as I hate, hate, HATED the pilot, I have inexplicably grown fond of the show since then. I mean, my brain tells me it's cheap garbage (which it is) that deviates maybe one percent from the typical CW/Smallville nighttime teen soap formula.

Yet, I refuse to delete the season pass and happily watch each episode. I'm somewhat interested in the larger villainous plot they're spinning with his Mom and the Torchwood guy (although she hasn't done anything sketchy since having him kidnapped in the pilot). I'm waiting for Diggle to do something besides take phone calls and look stuff up on computers. Even Amell has grown on me. I liked the callback to his odd "No one can know my secret" line in the pilot, and this Huntress storyline looks interesting.

Why cast Kelly Hu and saddle her with a horrendous blonde wig, tho? Is she supposed to be a character from the comics?

Yeah, Chyna White was a Green Arrow nemesis in one of the more recent runs.

Well they have cast Deathstroke and, surprisingly, it is a really good choice.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Manu Bennett aka Crixus from Spartacus.

I almost wish they'd just leave Deathstroke in the mask. He has sort of a Jason-esque mystique that way.

Another...Bullseye for Oliver! He did end up with...Distress, as his...Damsel...The Huntress, caused him enough...Duress by starting a Mob/Triad war! Hopefully next weeks ep will be a...Perfect 10!

Next week is the last ep til sometime in...2013, as it is a festive Holiday, even for...Mr. Queen! I...Quiver with Anticipation of a team up of...Oliver and Black Canary!

Another great episode of...Arrow! Arrow returns...January 16th 2013!

I'm enjoying the show so far - it's a lot better than Smallville was toward the end (or even toward the very beginning, for that matter), and I like the endless parade of B-list DC characters. I wonder if Joss Whedon's SHIELD series will take a similar tack with the Marvel Universe?

So Tommy's dad is the Dark Archer... hmm... I'll be interested to see if they expand on that a little bit. It seems awfully coincidental. I've been assuming the Chinese guy would be the one to teach Oliver how to use a bow and arrow, but now he appears to be dead. Maybe Malcolm gave Ollie lessons when he was a kid? And maybe he finds his buddy's arrows on the island and decides to take the hobby back up again?

With all this mystery surrounding what went down on the island, I'm starting to feel like I'm watching Lost meets Smallville. I hope they don't try and tie in the stuff with Deathstroke, et al with Merlyn and his 'plan for the city.' That would be a little too neat.

Any bets that Deathstroke will become one of Oliver's Teachers on the island?

felix, I don't think so.  Oliver already saw Deathstroke as one of the people that were holding him captive.  Deathstroke also kidnapped his friend the archer as well.

Yeah, I actually loved this last episode, but I'm beginning to smell that "Lost" storytelling stench too. I'm fine with slowly revealing what happened on the island, but let's not make this show take place in the smallest universe ever.

The Arrow vs. Dark Archer battle was pretty badass. It's about time he got his butt handed to him in his modern-day incarnation.

Still in disbelief that this show seems to be getting better by the week. Wednesday's episode focusing on him and Slade Wilson on the Island was just plain great. In fact, Slade/Deathstroke's introduction has really injected some nice life into the show. I'm still nervous that the "happening" or "reckoning" or "it" is going to turn out to be pretty dumb, but this show seems to have shaken off all of the glum Dark Knight-y nonsense it aspired to in the beginning. They've checked off a lot of lower-tier DC villains already, and each has been more ludicrous than the last ("Count" Vertigo was basically Cilian Murphy's Scarecrow right down to the lookalike actor).

Watched a clip of Deathstroke and Queen having it out. It's the only bit I've seen, but this show looks as lame and as cheap as Smallville with the same inexplicable fanbase. Pass.

Micah Robinson, I am glad to see some people enjoy...Arrow!  I...Love that The CW picked it up for Season 2 and made the...SMOAKing Hot Felicity played by Emily Bett Rickards, a regular!  Arrow is my...Favorite series.  Finally there is a superhero series as...On Target, as Arrow!

Steven Amell is quite possibly the worst series lead of all time. Of all time! Dude is a block of wood, no amount of shirtlessness can hide that fact. No charisma, monotone voice, why the hell was he cast? And Tommy and Dinah Laurel Lance put me to sleep as well. It's like they specifically grabbed a bunch of actors who have no chemistry.

Also, how the heck is Laurel gonna grow into Black Canary? I guess they have some time to figure it out, but wasn't she born with that sonic scream? I don't have much confidence Kate Cassidy and the writers are gonna handle that transformation well. Despite the aspirations towards "dark grittiness" I have to agree that this show is Smallville-lite; at least that show had a handful of decent actors.

Felicity Smoak is the one bright spot of this show. Love her, and the actress is fun. I loved that she joined Team Arrow reluctantly and on her own terms.  Well, I like Diggle all right too but it's a shame that his role is simply to be Oliver's bitch.

I've to say that i like some of the fights in the series.

No super powers in this series, at all. And originally Black Canary didn't have the sonic scream, she was just an incredibly kick ass martial artist.

And Amell has the occasional flashes of genuine charisma that make me pretty sure that flat, dour, borderline psychotic Ollie is a deliberate acting choice. If they don't drag out 'The Undertaking' across multiple seasons I could see them lightening him up a lot.
