The Republican Party Going Forward v 2.0 - Page 8

I wasn't that enthralled with Hagel's performance at his hearing. He seemed unprepared and uncomfortable.

That being said, Lindsey Graham is just being a MAJOR dick, seemingly just because he can. Cruz is being very penile as well.

And I don't know what the fuck is up with McCain...one day he's attacking the guy, the next he's defending him. ??

McCain has, at best, been mercurial.

If there was ever any question that the GOP really is just a bunch of jerks, it's gone now.

Maddow taking John McCain to task for being wrong about everything when it came to the Iraq War

http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/heather/rachel-maddow-takes-john-mccain-history-re

Before I even think about voting Republican, they will have to admit that they where wrong about Iraq and apologize for their actions. Same goes for any Democrat who voted for it. That is why I'm not so gun ho for Hillary in 2016.

The world would be a better place if McCain acted like a sore loser in 2000 instead of now.  He should have stood up for himself and said something like," Anybody who goes AWOL from the National Guard to avoid fighting for a war that he is all for, doesn't deserve to be Commander in Chief. Implying that I fathered an illegitimate child is not how one brings respect to Presidency"

The GOP's 'next big thing'...Marco Rubio is 'out' now, right?...anyway, apparently is Dr. Ben Carson

He sounds like he is an incredibly skilled pediatric neurosurgeon, but is he political material?

Quote:

Carson says 2016 run ‘up to God’ after pushing flat tax at National Prayer Breakfast

The pediatric neurosurgeon who shocked Washington by using his speech at the non-partisan National Prayer Breakfast earlier this month to suggest that the Bible calls for a flat tax now says that God might tell him to run for president in 2016.

As President Barack Obama sat just a few feet away, Dr. Ben Carson went on a 27-minute rant about political correctness and how Biblical “tithing” would make a better tax system. Fox News quickly heaped praise on Carson, while other conservative outlets like The Wall Street Journal and World Net Daily called for a presidential bid.

In a Sunday morning appearance on ABC News, Carson suggested that a White House run wasn’t out of the question if that was what God wanted.

I'd like to add an entry to the very short list of Things Schwartz Believes.

No. 3 - If you're claiming that the Bible endorses one specific tax system over another, you are an enormous, gaping asshole.

Basically declaring you're running for president in 2016 and saying god wants a flat tax all at a non partisan event. Yeah way to stay classy conservatives!

As much I as I enjoy beating up red states, I have to give credit where it's due. In that vein, I'd like to congratulate Mississippi for finally making ratification of the 13th Amendment official and going on the record as no longer supporting slavery.

Well, now we've got Mississippi up to 1865, so they're only 150 yrs behind the times as opposed to 200.

Less well known is that The Lord immediately followed that statement with "LOL!"

Ted Cruz: Complete McCarthyistic asshole!

http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/newsdesk/2013/02/ted-cruz-responds-harvard-law-was-full-of-communists.html

Um sure Ted Cruz, harvard is full of communists. Oh and the UN is trying to overthrow us as a sovereign nation and enact Agenda 21 to kick us out of our homes and put us all in hobbit homes in urban areas. Oh and people serving in the milatary are so unpatriotic! Oh and Ted was it 12? Or was it 10? Or 11? Man Texas is whacked how is this McCarthtyism loser elected as senator? Also a side note Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada and his dad was a Cuban that fought along side of Fidel Castro. Just saying........

I am consistently amazed that guys like Ted Cruz, Richard Mourdoch, Todd Akin, et al. have actually made it as far as they have in politics.

They seem completely oblivious to the fact that their statements/beliefs are kookoo. Then gain, insane people don't think they are insane, so....

I don't know what is worse, the fact that they are considered 'legitimate' politicians or that there are people out there that have voted for them.

Ya know, people have to take a test to get a driver's license, maybe there needs to be some sort of US history and/or psychological test that one must pass before you can run for office?

:)

You know it could be worse. We could be like Italy........
Sorry to double post but this story just made me laugh to much. It insinuates that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell got kicked out of the milatary due to having a affair with a fellow soldier.

Now I don't know if this is true but his SS records seem rather sketchy and questionable in a way I haven't seen other chicken hawk draft dodgers. Most likely this is just hearsay but it is interesting anyway.

For one his family probably had tons of money so his easy to fix injury was just the cover and much like Cheney, maybe due to school and his sight it was legit reasons to excuse him, though his stances on war in the senate is reprehensible.

Or he really was kicked out of the milatary for a homosexual encounter while at training, which is very funny.

Either way you slice it makes him a hypocrite and being a republican it wouldn't be insane to think he wouldn't be closeted queen as it says in the article which is more ridiculous.

It could be true, actually it would make him less detestable, more sympethetic although pathetic, not that I care other than hate hypocrites especially how visciously he has gone after gays in the past. But very interesting read regardless.

I don't know if I see McConnell as a closet case. I could definitely see him as enough of a chicken hawk to get caught sucking cock in the barracks to get out of deployment to Vietnam.

Hahahaha! Yeah good point. Totally beats Ted Nuggent in what he did to get out, crapping his pants. Though the one thing that plays in the favor of McConnell being gay is that  I've heard he is married but never seen his wife which is just odd. Plus as I said those SS records and the complete denials and contradictory statements by everyone involved. It just stinks something bad. as I said don't know if this is true and is pretty much hearsay but regardless don't care if he is but his aggressive stance against gay rights makes more sense. Overall it just amuses me since it feels like he's hiding something, plus he is a Republican by the way.

I have seen his wife she did serve in the Bush Whitehouse. Sometimes he has come into the store I worked at to shop and gets such a cold shoulder. Across the street is a comic shop and a head shop.

This sums up the utter death spiral the GOP is in? Christie is politically done, and the future is Palin, West, Bachmann and Perry? Seriously Republican Party just die already. God so stupid. I disagree a lot with Christie but for the majority his stance on issues except gay marriage is the stance of the American people. Honestly after reading this I want Christie to run beat down their sorry ass candidates and take that zombified party into the 20th century and out of the 19th century!

Ha true the GOP has jumped the shark for political analysis. They have become the caricature that comedians have joked about them for the 20 years. I mean who in reality thinks Palin is relevant? Even Fox News dumped her! It would be funnier if the didn't control the House of Repersentatives and were the opposition party. Hopefully the Libertarian Party can woo people away destroying the pathetic GOP.

I dunno, CPAC has always been pretty crazy, and they keep giving ground to the wingnuts in terms of personalities and panel content. In a year or two their most popular panel will probably be, "Which Hand Should I Hold My Gun in When I Masturbate: An Honest Real American Debate." A snub to Christie at CPAC doesn't necessarily mean jack out in the real world, because it's always basically been a cathartic circle jerk, and the only stuff that gets out of there is usually of the "did he say that?!?" variety. If he keeps winning elections, they'll be groveling before him eventually.

The Libertarians are going through their own domestic drama right now, trying to get answers from their 2012 candidate about precisely where the campaign donations went.

And that's better how??

It would be like having to choose from living with your born-again step-father who hits you or being forced to move in with your creepy 40-something uncle who thinks it's perfectly normal for uncles and nephews to share a shower.

Well that's a good point and I honestly agree. I'd much rather the GOP die and a real progressive party compete against the Democrats. However the likly hood of that happening is unlikely so I'd much rather have the Dems go against the Libertarians or a Republican Party influenced by the Libertarians than the current version of the GOP.

Wow what catestrophic poll numbers for the GOP. The two issues; spending and national security and now they lost both. Just amazing. Of course never understood this as spending goes up under Republicans and decreases under Democrats. Also the defecit point used by Republican and most of the media is wrong and in fact spending has decreased under Obama and the defecit has decreased tremendously in the past four years.

Elephant fight!

Ha to LaTourette being called a RINO and a conservative that just silly. Jindal is right they are the stupid party.

Funny I know the whole perception of Democrats is they have ton of infighting and taking each other down. I've never seen it that way honestly, maybe from 1968-1992 there was but I can't imagine it being this bad.

I can't believe in 2013 there is talk about repealing parts of The Voting Rights Act. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea has NO business talking about American Expressionism. They just want Republicans to be in charge and don't care what has to happen to make it so.

He's a fat old man filled with hatred and bile. He's only going to live so long. As long as we can keep the Dems in power through 2020, we should be able to replace him with Elizabeth Warren.

I sincerely doubt that any Democratic President, let alone Congress itself, would allow someone like Elizabeth Warren get onto the Supreme Court. Not unless Ginsberg passes, but even then, I would be surprised if Obama, or any modern Democrat, nominated any Progressive to the court.

That's what they said about Cheney, but he's been turned into the Energizer Bunny (minus any semblance of 'cute')

As Jack Donaghy said "the man is mostly metal"

That would be pretty awesome but I will settle for someone that believes in a "living" constitution.

For Fuck's sake, Jefferson spelled it out perfectly. It shouldn't be that hard to understand.

Quote:
Thomas Jefferson wrote, "I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.

Ugh! I'm so glad that there wasn't any real filibuster reform.

This is sad the GOP dosent love or want to do anything to help this country just harm it and benefit their donors who they work for not the American people, at least the Democrats throw some sort of scraps for the American people.

However in the short and long term it will hurt them. I think that most Americans have seen through their dirty tricks. More and more 2014 could end up being very, very bad for the GOP. By the way is there any chance the Dems could take back the house?

http://m.dailykos.com/stories/1190466
The House may be too gerrymandered, but it's not totally out of the question. It will require probably a combination of a fantastic GOTV effort on the part of the Dems, coupled with a demotivated GOP base. There's a lot of districts gerrymandered to go 53-47 (I'm in one) that can tip if turnout goes down on the 53 side.

I have read re-taking the House in 2014 is something the Obama administration is working feverishly on attaining.

I hope so.  It's going to take a miracle.

It is rather amazing, isn't it?

It's been said over and over but the GOP just doesn't seem to get that the problem isn't with the delivery of their ideology, it's that the actual content of that ideology is toxic to human life.

Now that Bob Woodward is a shill for the Republican Party I feel this belongs here.

http://www.theonion.com/articles/anonymous-source-informs-bob-woodward-he-hasnt-bee,31481/

Great point Onion! He still is treated like a serious, respected journalist because of Watergate, and he deserves a lot of acclaim for that. However that was 40 years ago! In the recent years he's written many books and articles defending the Bush Administration and a recent book demagoging the Obama Administration. Woodward is sellout and a loser! It's not that he's a Republican it's the fact that he is a paid pr man for the GOP. Sad I used to have alot of respect for him.

I think Wired was the end of Woodward's credibility to a lot of people.

Ann Romney biggest primadonna ever. Boo hoo you lost get over it. What a terrible person. So you lost a lot of attention. Okay whatever. You have a drasange horse, a car elevator, like ten homes and more money than most people can dream of!

Go away for life! No one wants to hear what you say. She is the modern epitome of Marie Antoinette. And still can't believe the nerve of Michelle Malkin saying that about Michelle Obama!

So glad the Romney's lost they certainly don't get the reality of what most people go through, god imagine how awful of a president he would have been.
