Sigh...

it should have...i have been waiting for too long. Its killing every nothern guts in me.

I read an interview with Lena Headey where she mentioned that she only worked 14 days as Cersei this season. Not being a reader of the books, I can only assume that Cersei's not in the third book a hell of a whole lot. A little disappointed as she's easily one of the most fascinating characters on the show.

Its been a while since I read it, and maybe not as much page-time, but she's definitely a presence felt throughout.

Glad to see we got a whopping 4 posts in to the "spoiler free" thread before diving in to casting information and comparisons to the books.  Come on, guys.

Schwartz: Cat Herder

Mine and my brother's families started having dinner with our parents on Sunday nights last season (cousins too with TWD this last half). It must be annoying sitting with me in the same room bringing up the source material and retelling everyone what we just saw in real time 'the right way'.

Agree completely, especially re Jon and Arya's storylines, wasted a lot of potential.  But enough about the books, I just want another episode that is on par with Blackwater and I'll be satisfied.  I'm also really intrigued to see how they explain what happened to Winterfell, because if memory serves, they left that pretty open to intrepretation as to how the city got destroyed.

I hope the CG budget for the Wights and White Walkers at the end of season 2 wasn't so high that they wouldn't be able to continue with that level of animation for future episodes. I get why they would skip past certain battles (like the one where Tyrion gets hit on the head and wakes up and it is over) due to budget constraints but you can't tease us with a visual as cool as that sauntering Others army and then not deliver.

Non book spoiler, based on episode listings on IMDB:

It's cool that Ciaran Hinds will be sticking around for the whole season, according to IMDB. I have not read the books so I'm unfamiliar with how large a character Mance Rayder may or may not be, but it seems like he's going to be a central player in Season 3 in any case.

This isn't the always the strongest HBO show I've ever seen, but in general it's a delight to immerse myself in the fascinating Game of Thrones universe. I've cancelled HBO for the time being but I'm looking forward to the end of March when the show returns and I sign back up.

Awesome! So that teaser trailer is basically informing us that some kind of portal rips open between Westeros and our world this season, right? So I'm guessing that we'll see Daenerys leading her dragons through Los Angeles, and Tyrion might find himself hiding out in Warwick Davis' London home, and then Joffrey can demand the head of Lady Gaga, and - huh? No?

Stupid teaser trailer.

yeesh, that's a really shitty teaser

there should be a real trailer coming out later this month

there's also a behind the scenes video coming out on the 21st

Stupid teaser, but I do so love that song.

Also, if you guys are going to continue talking about who is in the entire season vs. who isn't, I'll just exit this thread for now. Spoiler-free includes that sort of shit, IMHO.

This put the image in my head of GoT going all Masters of the Universe on us.

It's... horrible.

...Maesters of the Universe?

Hmmm?

Hmmm?

I'm still not entirely sure how what I said was a "spoiler", especially since it's in an interview anyone can read, doesn't reveal any plot specifics, and I've never cracked open any of the books. It strikes me as silly to get all bent out of shape about it. Robb Stark does challenge Theon in the Westeros Golf Championship though; that I do know.

Also, I guess b/c I see that HBO is attempting to acknowledge and gloat about GoT's zeitgeisty effect, I understand and appreciate the point of the teaser, it's just kind of flat as a piece of advertisement.

The community basically agreed on the Season 2 thread, that talk like that was considered to be in spoiler territory. Part of the charm is that every character is on the chopping block so to speak, and can die at any time. Knowing that a certain character is on for a full season basically tells me that I don't have to worry about them dying for a while. It's no different them telling me a character is still kicking around in a later book.

It's not getting bent out of shape to ask that we adhere to pre-established etiquette.

Here's a big spoiler for the Season 2 home video release: Sophie Turner, Maise Williams, and Isaac Hempstead-Wright are still precociously adorable:

That's funny, because the one and only thing it tells me is that Game of Thrones has a shit-ton of characters and story threads to deal with. Anything else I could glean from that would be pure and unreasonably paranoid conjecture on my part.

Let's just leave it at NO SPOILERS OF ANY STRIPE and skip the argument.  There's a little black box icon right up ^there^ for anything that might conceivably be revealing.

This needs to be the Season 3 theme tune. I hope someone at HBO hears our plea and makes this happen.

Do we have any Chewers who (A) take mind-bending drugs and (B) are Game Of Thrones fans?

Well, thanks to Trav McGee, I just accidentally stumbled upon the below video which I believe was designed for people like yourselves.

B) YUPPERS

And YES! at the video

The cat video is cute, but the CLICK HERE FOR THE 10-HOUR VERSION! note is troubling.

So apparently George R. R. Martin has signed a contract with HBO which may have something to do with firming up his role on the show, but may also have him developing new shows for them. There's speculations about a Dunk and Egg series or Wild Cards (neither of which I know anything about), but I'd be more interested to see him developing something new for TV. Martin's from the medium, after all, and as entertaining as GoT is it often bears the scars of having been forced into an episodic format. I think something created specifically for the TV format by him could be really cool.

To be honest I liked last season's "Shadow's" trailer better. Better music, better dialogue snippets.

Still, I am so ready for this season. All the little kids seem to have hit their growth spurts. And hooray for Dany's wig getting upgraded.

Except Maisie Williams, who seems doomed to remain 3 feet tall and 50 pounds forever.

I'd feel bad for her, but somehow her 3 foot-50 pounds is 10x as badass as my 5'10 -190 could ever be.

I'd have inserted my "5'4 - 122", but it's not as effective as yours.  But point made, sir and so true.  She's a force.

Not a particularly great trailer. Apart from the dragons it's mostly a load of the sort of foreboding footage of people looking into the distance that you'd expect. I'm a bit tired of the show constantly selling itself as "Something is coming!"

I'd rather have boring shots then them giving the good shit away.  I'm watching regardless.

Actually I think there are some great shots in there, it's just that the trailer is boringly assembled (and the voiceover is really blah).

There is a mid-point. LOST and BREAKING BAD, for example, had ways of putting together trailers that made you feel like you had a good idea of what the coming season would be about while barely giving away anything of importance.

I consider the Seven Devils trailer from last year to be one of the best trailers I've seen, period. This one doesn't quite hit that high for me, but it's still pretty damn good. Flying dragons, Dany with an army, and some Tyrion. Good times.

It had me at flying dragons.  That is all.

As if a bad trailer would convince you not to watch.

This is my favorite show right now. It keeps getting better and better, I hope season 3 really takes it into the stratosphere. I love that I have no idea what's going to happen in the premiere or the season, too.

Winter.  Duh.

The trailer looked fine to me. Enticing as it promises scope without without spoilery context; it does its job.

Apropos of nothing, I only just read about the Lisa Nolan situation from S2 and it speaks to a major issue the series faces. Don't do shit simply because you're on HBO and you can, and at the very least, have the decency not to abuse the trust of your actors. No wonder I've read a handful of interviews where Headey comes off as irritated about the nudity on the show.

Worth a chuckle for fans of the show.

Whilst not really my thang, I'll give its opening sequence some respect.

Melisandre and Stannis waving flyers was the best part.

I can't find it at the moment but that reminded me of the really impressive Gotham High short that was knocking about a while ago.
