A new Amazon Kindle Fire. This is AWESOME. I'm blown away. This is going to get heavy usage this winter; I have a child who does winter swim meets and this will provide hours of reading and video distraction.

Thank you, Jacob!

Holy crap!

You're making the rest of us look bad!!!

(AMAZING)

That is insane Jacob.

This Year's swag might be the best yet if even half of us try to keep up to that example.

Enjoy, MichaelM! This is gonna be my go-to gift for several people this year, and I figured why not CHUD?

You are a saint, sir.

HENDRICK'S IS THE BEST GIN! That's a great gift!

Hendrick's is sublime. Nice, Anya.

Glad you liked it Diva.  The other 2 items shipped.  I would assume you'll get them by Tuesday/Wed.  And you won't have to sign for them.

Hunter Tarantino hooked me up with some Blu-Ray's I've been wanting real bad. This is going to make for one hell of a triple feature. I think I'll watch them in a row just like this, from left to right.

Thanks so much, man! I appreciate it, this is awesome.

Anya continues to be a God among men. Gift #2 arrived: Community claymation figurines and a Greendale messenger bag! Fucking A!

His name is Rene. Look upon his works, ye mighty, and tremble.

I'd been holding off on Predator 2 for the longest, and this saves me from stopping for 15 minutes to contemplate buying it every time I'm in Best Buy. Hobo With A Shotgun is fucking batshit amazing, and was on my Amazon list, so, kudos for being psychic. I missed 30 Minutes Or Less in theaters, that's extremely welcome. Somehow, second I knew I got Rene, I knew I was getting License To Kill. Just...knew. My dreams of owning that Bond 50 set got shattered when I figured out just how broke I'd be by years end, but I can definitely settle for going on a nice honeymooooooon.

Awesome, awesome haul, sir. This will be the badassiest of Christmases. Thank you!

Fabulous! Glad you like them, Justin! They will certainly make your Christmas that much more awesome.

Swag from Parker came today! Three things I had been looking to buy for myself but hadn't! Thanks for the wonderful surprise!

Glad you don't have them! Have you heard of Zeroville? I know you like to read, and it's about movies (specifically, the Easy Riders/Raging Bulls period) and it's told through the point of view of a supremely mentally imbalanced guy with a tattoo from A Place in the Sun on the back of his head. Very post-modern, but I loved it and I try to try to give it to fellow movie/book lovers.

Enjoy!

I've heard really good things about Zeroville but haven't had a chance to read it yet. Looking forward to the enjoyment that is going to come from all three!

Spike's Swag arrived today and it's awesome.

Haven't seen Streets of Fire or read or read any Lovecraft and Mazeword looks great.   Thanks man I look forward to all of it.

Got home from work & saw roboTimKelly's package (ha) had arrived.

Thanks sir!  Although I'm a fan of the series, I did not own any of them on DVD or Blu-ray.  This was long overdue.

Thanks roboTim and Happy Holidays!

Streets of Fire is awesome.  Great pick.

Really glad you liked. STREETS OF FIRE is a favourite of mine, and I think you're gonna love the music in it. The Lovecraft collection is worth it for At The Mountains Of Madness, but for my money the curious case of Charles Dexter Ward is one of the best things Lovecraft wrote and it should be in that collection.

Some awesome stuff going around! Glad you love everything, Parker.

Zeroville is great stuff. Heard James Franco wanted to direct the film adaptation, and if he does, there's a plum role for Seth Rogen as a Milius-esque filmmaker named Viking Man.

Oh man, Rogen as the Milius character would be perfect.

The hair, the glasses, the beard, the voice... he'd nail it.

My pleasure, good sir. Happy holidays to you and yours.

Justin Clark went above and beyond.

Just find out that he's bought and paid for a pre-order of BIOSHOCK INFINITE. So on February 20th I'll be steam punking my way through the sequel to my all time favourite game of this generation. Words fail me at the generosity.

So Anya's third gift finally arrived. Really, it was three packages full of multiple gifts! So aside from the bottle of gin and Community swag, I now own the following items. I have seen/read none of them, so am looking forward to diving in. Cabin in the Woods will be watched this weekend for sure! Thanks again, Anya! You went above and beyond. Now I have to pay it forward to Hammerhead.

You're going to love the shit out of Cabin In THe Woods, Diva.

I know you don't have time to read much, but I knew I had to have a gossip related gift to the gossip queen.  Cabin in the Woods is great.  Was kinda of worried you might have it but the fact that you haven't seen it is even better.

First present from Schwartz:

Pretty excited to dig into this.  I didn't know of such film, but this is why I'm here: to learn about kick-ass, under the radar movies.  The synopsis on Wikipedia has me salivating, and I'm always excited to pratiquer mon francais, parce que il est tres rouillé.

Thanks man!

You might want to wait til they all get there to post, as it's going to be a haphazard process.  Army of Shadows is amazing, though, and in keeping with my preference to emotionally punish people for the holidays rather than...whatever it is the rest of you people do.

Oh, I'll post updates as they come AND a final spread of me naked with all of my loot.  The people must know of your generosity.

It'll be in black and white, so it'll be a tasteful nude.

Lauren sure is shaping the boards.

Yeah, wouldn't want Harford to have a conniption.

Wow. eek.gif

Tim K did awesome.    He had a few themes and a slew of great flicks.  I'll post pics tomorrow and brag about the swag.  He even wrapped them.

Wow, I'm impressed that one of those flat rate United States postal boxes could get halfway across the country in three days. I only mailed it on the 7th.

I'm glad you like the swag Anyawatchin' I had several internal debates on what films you might or might not already have. biggrin.gif
post #44 of 170

I was out cold with the flu last week, mostly off CHUD, and I wasn't getting email notifications I had PMs from Spook asking for further clarification on gift ideas. He didn't let my radio silence deter him, though, as I got these a few days ago...

Wow. I've only seen seen the first two once, and never the second. So stoked.

Only heard good things about this one on CHUD. Looking forward to seeing what the fuss is about.

I love LOVE LOVE alternate histories--Man in the High Castle by Phillip K. Dick is one of my favorite books ever.

I read a review of this just the other day and told myself to get on the waiting list for it at the library. Now I don't have to. Suck it, library!

Thanks, Spook! You outdid yourself, truly.

Tim K., expect your mailbox-filler next week.

Glad you got the stuff, Bendrix!  Hope you feel better.

My motto for Christmas so far has been:  This season, give the gift of STRIKE BACK.  And every man needs an archival copy of the Godfather.

I haven't read Osama, but I've heard excellent things--let me know how you like it!  Art of Fielding is one of my favorite books from 2011.  It's The Great Gatsby meets The Natural.

Schwartz came through like a champ: In addition to the Army of Shadows blu, I got a blu of Last of the Mohicans, which I've also never seen, and two excellent CDs.

Merry Xmas everyone!

You said you hated country music in pms, so I got a couple albums that I thought might bring you around.  One's on the folksy side, the other on the bluegrass side, neither the excrement that constitutes mainstream country.

I love them thus far.  My problem with modern, mainstream country music is the same problem Tom Petty has with it:  "it's a bad rock group with a guy on fiddle."

Oh Hammerhead.  <3

Hammerhead that is great.

I now know what I want for Xmas.
