Terror has a new video cassette format.

...they're actually calling it that?

You don't like it?! I think it's sweet. S-VHS really WAS the sequel to VHS. I think it allows them to deliver a better-looking film while keeping the conceit. No one questions it because next to no one ever got their hands on the format.

Oh it makes sense and I guess I give them credit for sticking to their guns in regard to the gimmick, but it's not like they didn't play fast and loose with the whole conceit in the first film so it almost feels disingenuous and stilted to stick so hard to it in such a way that's going to make a lot of people say "...what?"  Hell I BARELY remember S-VHS as a thing so there's no doubt that a lot of people won't know what it is at all.

But I kind of actively hate the first one so I'm probably projecting a lot of bias.

I was none too impressed with the first, but I'll give this a chance.

Huge missed opportunity to call it Betamax.

Perhaps we should start a rival series?

Potential sequel titles: DivX, HD-DVD

This is encouraging.  Mild spoilers involved.

I really liked the trailer and it did its job of making me want to see the movie.

Very encouraging review.  When is it out?

still time for a 70s-80s prequel

They should also do an offshoot series of shorts called VHS-C

I feel like this title should appeal to me, but it doesn't. S-VHS never really caught on (mini DV was what S-VHS wanted to be), and the whole "VHS" angle didn't even make sense in the first one with it's webcam footage and often times digital aesthetic.

"Camera Phone" isn't a good title, but it makes more sense as a concept. If they wanted to go back and make a true VHS movie I'd support that, but if they're not going to be using footage from VHS camcorders, they should ditch the name.

Read that too. I thought the birthday party and the jump scare at the end was from a possible Bigfoot story . . . oh, well.

Thank you god. The first one had such potential that was wasted.
