NLL (National Lacrosse League) Any fans? - Page 2

I have a feeling if the Stealth's season is like 2014/2015 the coach will definitely be the first on the chopping block. Penney was shaky in goal and it's a shame since he was stellar between the pipes during the summer for the New Westminster Salmonbellies.  It's just one game but they need to play as an actual team from here on out.

Glad you had a great time at the Swarm's home opener, Martianman!

At about the 0:07 mark, look in the lower right hand corner for a guy with brown hair, and bright yellow shirt...*sigh* and a bald spot. That's me. The person to my left with the gray hoodie is my son. 2:23 mark is the behind the back goal.

Oooooh.  See, I saw this dude jumping up in the stands, and I thought "Surely, that must be Martianman".

"Stinger". In my son's words, "Worst mascot ever. Why didn't you just hire a blonde guy with surfer hair or blonde dreads instead of making a costume?"

Also I found it weird that every time the Swarm scored, everyone started doing the mashed potato.

And they play The Fratellis song "Chelsea Dagger" while we all look like idiots doing that.

Why isn't Stinger a giant bee? Were they out of bee costumes or something?

HUGE 13-11 win for the Stealth tonight against the defending champs the Saskatchewan (formerly Edmonton) Rush! What a game!

This is box lacrosse and it is awesome!

I guess they didn't want to confuse people because Georgia Tech is the Yellow Jackets. I say you can use the same costume in the off-season of college football.

You should start a fan petition and send it to the Swarm. They might take it into consideration. :D

Are you going to the Sunday game against the Black Wolves?

No, unfortunately we're leaving town today (Sunday) for a couple of days for a funeral. Then there is only 1 home game in Feb and 1 in March then 3-4 in April. We'll probably try to hit the next one in February.

Sorry to hear about that. My condolences.

My son was excited after practice last night--apparently they're going to try and have him do the face-offs, even though he plays defense. I don't know if they'll have an LSM on the defensive side and then have them switch after the face-off, or what. But he's super psyched about it. We don't have a set goalie either, so they're going to run through all the defensemen for a half--he is very much less psyched about that.

Oh, and my son is no longer the biggest kid on the team. We had a kid just join that has been at a national football exhibition or something like that in Texas--he's 6'3" and 14 years old. Never played lax before, but he's a super nice kid. My son played football against him a few years ago in the same league. So we'll have a 5'8" kid and a 6'3" kid playing defense on our U15 team.

I'm sure there's less than ten people on this board who will are excited for this but I don't care. I love this sport and I will continue to pound the drum as loud and as long as I can. Why am I excited? Here's the skinny:

It's going to be one for the ages! Can't wait!

Was bummed the Swarm lost their first playoff game, but it was unreal they were in the playoffs to start with. I'll be watching the NLL finals. We're going to an MLL game next Saturday.

Damn Canadians! Lol.

The MLL game we went to was fun, although Atlanta got spanked in the 2nd half. Couldn't win any faceoffs and couldn't stop the fast break. Down by 2 at the half and lost by 10. Son starts lax tournaments every weekend for the rest of June, so we'll try to hit another MLL game in July.

My son's summer lax league team won their tournament this weekend. That was fun. And tiring. The program as a whole (we had 4 different teams/age groups in the tournament) won the Sportsmanship Award, which the program director was more proud of than the two teams that won their respective divisions.

Interesting--just read that a player for the MLL Atlanta team the Blaze, has signed a 2-year deal with the NLL team the Swarm. And I think the Blaze already fired their head coach after one season. Which doesn't shock me--they could not score goals in the 2nd half. One of their last games I saw they actually got shut out in the 4th quarter. That's pretty bad for an outdoor lax team to be shut out in a quarter.

Can't wait for the season to begin in late December. After watching a fantastic five game series between the Maple Ridge Burrards (West) and the Six Nation Chiefs battling for the Mann Cup I'm seriously jonesing for more lacrosse!

Ooo, spiffy. I just bought tickets for the home opener of the Swarm in January. My son is playing high school lax now, so we'll see if the schedule allows us to attend more games. Last year all his games clashed with the Swarm home games.

SIX MORE SLEEPS UNTIL THE 2017 SEASON STARTS!

SHIIIT. Because of ice and snow bedlam here in Atlanta Saturday night, and also because we were leaving for a trip on Sunday, we completely whiffed on going to the season opener. Even after we had already bought tickets. ARGH. Will have to make another this season.

You know what I'm doing Saturday night? Screaming my lungs out cheering on the Stealth as they take our longtime rival the Calgary Roughnecks in their home opener!

Geez Martian, you need to plan all your activities/trips around the NLL schedule. Big picture man, BIG PICTURE! :D

Swarm was super about it. They called me and offered comp tickets to another game. Going on 2/11.

Swarm is 4-0! What the heck?

Well at least the team from Atlanta beat New England in one sport. Swarm are 5-1!

Well look at that. The Vancouver Stealth are in the playoffs for the first time in four years since they relocated from Washington State and they are having a run of amazing games right now. The Swarm are also in as well!

Next weekend is going to be full of intense playoff lacrosse. Can't wait!

Yeah the Swarm has had a great season. I've been to 2 of the home games this year and am going to try and make a playoff game.

W00t! Swarm going to the finals! I've given Poulin a lot of shit all season, but man he played great in goal tonight.

Game 1 down! Will they pull a Falcons and blow it in Game 2?

What a crazy ending! See, a team in Atlanta can win a championship!

Fett, why haven't you congratulated my team yet? Lol.

Geez, I'm really sorry for the lateness on this. Congratulations to the Swarm for winning the Champion's Cup! That's quite a feat beating the Rush.

Oh, the 2017-18 season starts next Friday!
