Some movie happiness for Boston

Well, amidst all the horrific happenings on the East Coast this week, I thought I'd share this with anyone in the Boston area who may be interested in forgetting the trauma for a bit. I'm a bit embarrassed I didn't hear of these screenings sooner, but what can I do, here you go.

The 17th Annual Boston Film Fest is winding down this weekend and here are a couple treats to think about seeing if you can:

Brotherhood of the Wolf will be playing tonight. The schedule is as follows:
Screening at the Copley Place tonight at 7:30 and 10 p.m. and tomorrow at 11 a.m. and 1:30 and 4 p.m.

In addition to Brotherhood, Hearts in Atlantis is also showing:
Screening at the Boston Common tonight at 7:15 and 10 p.m. and tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. and 2 and 4:30 p.m.

Those are the only two nights for these bad boys' showings, go here for more info on other films playing the fest this weekend:

So we get to the theater with plenty of time to spare, eagerly anticipating a long-in-the wait viewing of 'Brootherhood...', only to find out that it's NOT THERE tonight. Arg. Pissiness prevails, but we learn that it's coming from New York, so it's bit understandable why it's not here yet.

Tomorrow at 4:15, we're there.

I LOVED IT

This is the type of movie I've always wanted to see. It's got a little bit of everything all wrapped up nice and neat. If anyone gets the opportunity to see it, go, you won't regret it.

Yeah, I managed to see Le Pacte des Loups earlier this year (Finally we Europeans got a cool movie way earlier than America), and it is cool. I was a bit disappointed in the ending, but damn if the rest isn't excellent. I thought the monster was very cool. Don't know if any of you read the graphic novel "The Lords of Misrule", I thought the creature designs looked a lot like something out of that one. And hey, it's a french flick, so there's lots of gorgeous (natural looking) naked ladies in there, so what more could we want?

BTW, the DVD should be out over here at the start of November, I'll keep you guys posted on what's included on it....

No, it was the full 2 1/2 glorious hours. Thank God, it'd be odd for a movie to get festival release in a truncated form.

PLEASE let us know when the DVD is out, we must own it.

the DVD is out here on the eight of November, but I haven't read anything about extras and such. Also,'It's a dutch release, so I'm not sure whether English subtitles will be included...
The French get it one day before we do: Amazon.fr has the 2 disc and 3 Disc Collector's Editions (!) posted with a release date for November 7th. It includes an Audio commentary and a 1 hour 20 minutes Documentary. Unfortunately, no sign of English subtitles, and worst of all....... IT'S PAN & SCAN! AAAAAAARGH....

(edited because I had the wrong release date for my country)

Wow, and hear I was ready to go and pre-order it, too. PAN & SCAN??? That ruins the entire FEEL of the movie for chrissakes! Stupid French.

the french amazon site has it as a "fullscreen format" picture. I hate them for doing this, I really do. Here's hoping the Dutch version won't use the French version as a base: as cool as that documentary sounds, I do want my stuff anamorphically enhanced and widescreen.

PS: if the Dutch version is anamorphic widescreen, and English subtitled, I'd be willing to send you two lovebirds a copy, no prob.

Hey, any girl who loves Ring as much as I do and any guy running a cool website like this one deserve some presents...

but, uh, if I send it (if it does feature subtitles in english), feel free to leave comments on my gallery (if the hosts ever get it back online properly.. sigh). or send me copies of Japanese Horror VideoCDs hehehehe....

Seriously, yeah, it's no prob, I'll send it. But I have to say that the chances of a dutch release featuring English subtitles aren't too great

I'm all for trading amongst 'collectors' and such. I just wish I had more of what people wanted, that is, stuff that's copy-able, though I believe with our DVD player we can dupe from DVD to VHS (doesn't that sound like a sin? Heh) for things like commentary or extra stuff.
