Chaz, Thank you for the...Good Word. I will wait for...Cable so I can watch the last...20 minutes, thus seeing...The Main Event...GODZILLA, while skipping the rest of the ho hum story.
No progress to report on my brother and his family's Mothra costumes, sadly; but I'll be seeing this at 1:40 PM Eastern, today!

You know, for all the talk about Godzilla only really being in last 30 minutes (which is a lot of screen time when you think about it), there is still plenty of great quality monster mayhem before that. The 3 major MUTO scenes are all great. Yeah, the story is standard monster-movie fare, though it is far from bad, just too standard and unremarkable. Seriously, the only real flaw is that the story and characters wasn't up to par with the quality of the rest of the filmmaking. It's worth seeing it in IMAX if you get the chance.

Yup, of the criticisms I've seen slung at the movie, lack of monster is not something I'd agree with.

Lack of monster criticisms are really just a byproduct of the dull dull dull human element that we spend a good amount of time with.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa...  Hold on there cowboy.

They turn you into a monster and then they call you one.

The characters aren't boring. They act like normal people would if a lot of crazy shit started happening. Unlike Pacific Rim the movie isn't slowed down by boring back stories for the characters. In Godzilla the humans are the supporting characters to the the stars of the movie: Godzilla and the MUTOs.

I don't care about characters behaving realistically in a freaking Godzilla film. Give something interesting while I wait for Godzilla's screen time (all 7 minutes of it).

ugh normal people...

Actually I'd argue that the characters in Godzilla 2014, like the good guys in Stephen King novels, tend to act a bit better than most "normal" people would if faced with the same situations in real life. I know if Giant Monsters started fighting in SF I'd be shitting bricks too much to do much of anything.

Yeah Nooj!  I'd like to see YOU be compelling and jump out of planes and shit when monsters show up!

You know you'd watch me in that movie.

You wouldn't be able to look away.

FROM THE FUN.

In the way that watching a train crash is fun.

So you just can't accept Asian American leads in your Hollywood blockbusters, eh?

to bad the 98' Godzilla was smaller than what the poster made it look like plus U.S. Godzilla 2014 would stomp the hell out of U.S. Godzilla 1998. To bad Toho never got to see Godzilla '14
