Night of the Comet

First off, let me get the Catherine Mary Stewart goodness out of the way. Ahhh, 1984 was a good year with her in this and The Last Starfighter. So cute.

I happened to come upon this flick as it was playing on one of HBO channels this afternoon. I enjoyed it well enough, but it could certainly have used some improving. I haven't seen a whole lot of talk about it here, although I have probably missed previous discussions on it. Thoughts on this one?

Night of the Comet rocks! And I loved The Last Starfighter. I ripped off one of Alex's lines when I was hitting on a girl. We ended up dating for 5 years and the whole time I had to make sure she never watched the movie.

Night of the Comet isn't on DVD is it? It's one of the first horror/sci-fi movies I remember seeing on the big screen. The nightmare within a nightmare scared the bejeesus out of me at the time...had never seen that before.

I watched Comet about ten times on HBO in the mid 80s. Always liked it. I wonder how it would hold up now...

It holds up pretty well, actually. I just saw it for the first time a few months back, and I liked it a lot. Very subtle, very odd but it was different than most other "apocalypse" movies. Wish someone would give it some DVD love...

Yeah, it is a great movie!
The killing of the boyfriend early on shocked me when I first saw it.

It was on HBO Comedy (Comedy?) on Saturday. I watched it, and had a smile on my face all the way through.

And Mary Woronov...mmm mmm mmm...
