The best place to keep your mind off of all the sex you're not having. Let's do this.

*shrugs*

It'll probably be decent, setting off a 1000 page post-release spearheaded by McNooj bitching about Batman blowing up half of Gotham with two sticks and a batarang.

I'm so prepared for the fun that's in store for us.

Part of me wants WB to burn the internet down by recasting Superman with Nicolas Cage.

It will be fun to discuss I guess, but I anticipate being pretty lackadaisical about the whole thing.

Seriously.  We're doing this thread?

Bradito, After...Kick-Ass, I would...Love to see...Nicholas Cage as...Batman!
Can we get a Batmobile this time that doesn't look like a scrap heap on wheels?

At last! Somewhere we can discuss this Batman and Superman movie that's coming out!

Yeah no one is talking about this!!!!!!

Lol anyway I'm still pretty excited by this. I was disappointed by the Affleck news but the more I think about it the better it seems, especially if Affleck replaces Snyder in the director chair!

Also they could of picked someone much worse. There was that Orlando Bloom rumor and honestly everyone else mentioned was terrible or just uninspired (Josh Brolin? Really?) So reserve judgement at least till a trailer and if Cranston joins the cast as Luthor I'll be totally behind this!

Best comment I've read about this whole fiasco:

"In the Ben Affleck version, Batman's parents kill themselves."

And.... I'm officially going to make a bet that Affleck walks from the role due to "scheduling difficulty" or something. The reaction from the public sphere has been instantaneous and deafening: do not want. WB will see a disaster in waiting and be forced to change their plans.
Seriously? WB couldn't buy better press than this. Everyone today has anecdotal evidence that the casting was a masterstroke because non-fans are talking about it. Do you honestly think people are just going to skip the movie now?
Seriously? All press is good press even if everyone is like "this is terrible I don't want to go see a movie with Affleck as batman!"?

AMEN.  First smart thing suggested.

Tumblr and Batpod were the most iconic super hero vehicles of the new Millenium. I seriously hope they don't change it.

The Tumblr is great!  I mean, they named a whole blogging site after it!

Batman should invite Superman for a ride in the newly redesigned Batmobile: "I call it the Friendster."

At this point two years before release? You bet your ass.

And not everyone's wetting their pants one way or the other.

Er... Harford, in case you were being serious, it's the Tumbler. With two vowels.

But in case you weren't, my bad.

I want to see a Batmobile that looks like a billionaire's badass sports car . . . something like Back to the Future's DeLorean if given to James Bond by Q.

And it can turn invisible!

Cranston will be good as Lex but I really liked the idea of Denzel.
Cranston was...ok in John Carter, but not the...best pick for Lex Luthor.

All I have to say is Walter White aka "Hisenberg" in Breaking Bad

Plus he can do some levity in his performance too he was hilarious in Malcolm in the Middle and when his enemies think they can take him lightly.......BLAM! Out comes Hisenberg!
KaylaisMagic, Neither series...Appeals to me.
Really? Okay I can understand Malcolm in the Middle (it's kind of guilty pleasure for me) but Breaking Bad? It's so good!

And Cranston is amazing! How his character changes from a milquetoast school teacher to a ruthless meth cooker/drug kingpin is impressive. Breaking Bad sells me on the fact he can pull off the ruthlessness needed for Luthor I can't think of anyone that could come close to that.

If he wasn't cast as Jor-El I could see Russell Crowe as Luthor possibly Washington could work but honestly even in Training Day I couldn't hate him. So my vote is with Crsnston anyone else would be a disappointment.
Daniel Day Lewis as Lex Luthor, Jor El, Kal El OR BATMAN. Slot him into any of those roles and he'd be the best possible option for that role.

DDL must look at this kind of stuff like it's for mouth breathers.  He's a different species.

For the nerds, he is the Superhero movie WHITE WHALE!

I hope he NEVER bothers with this stuff.

It's a shame Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba are both in Marvel movies. Either would be incredible as Luthor. Whoever they choose, I hope they don't dispose of the character within the space of a single movie.

I don't like Cranston for Luthor, because it sounds in line with the most boring version of the character (the Hackman/Spacey interpretation). I don't want the cheesy con artist, I want to see the DCU version, a guy who has pushed himself to the limits of human achievement because he considers himself a great man. That ain't Cranston.

I'm pretty sure that literally is Cranston, and he climbed the mountains of Nepal or something to become a great actor.

Actually, I think one of my first choices for nu Luthor would be Jon Hamm. He'd kill it.

No... Cranston is Luthor, Hamm is Superman, and Emmys are his Kryptonite.

What's the name of the guy who played Hemmingway in Midnight in Paris and Peter in House of Cards?  Him.  There's no question.  He's as perfect for Luthor as Karl Urban is for Batman.  Man in some alternate universe where I make all the casting decisions I am KILLIN it.

They should definitely do this if they want to get the internet back on side. They should also cast Fassbender as Superman and Elba as Batman, or visa versa. Maybe they could switch the roles at various points. They should also play every other role in the movie, except for one or two played by Nathan Fillion and Bruce Campbell.

In all honesty I think Cranston is both the no-brainer choice and the right choice. The only issue is that it's a little too easy to imagine him just doing the Heisenberg thing but without the complexity of Walter White. The other problem is that the script and most of the rest of the movie will probably be shit.

Really guys?  I think he's the wrong choice.  It's lazy to shove him into a similar role right after Breaking Bad, especially since Walter White is SO iconic in pop culture now.  It's all I'd be thinking about.  Also, he's a bit older than Luthor tends to be shown.

At this point the movie could use at least one "Fuck yeah!" casting choice. Cranston would definitely nail that, but I kind of agree with people that Luthor should be more of an Ozymandias type (Watchmen, not Breaking Bad). A guy who, whether human or not, when you hear him vow to destroy Superman, you will damn well believe him. Cranston only really has that if his brings the Heisenberg baggage with him.

The problem with Cranston is that I feel I've already seen him play Luthor. He does it every week on his show and he's done it in the Total Recall remake. It's like hiring Sarah Michelle Gellar to play a vampire hunter or Arnold Schwartenegger to play a robot. Can they do it? Sure. Is it exciting to watch again? Maybe not. I agree with the Jon Hamm suggestion as Mad Men has demonstrated that he can play charming, and, from what I've seen, he has the range to play a villain too (disclaimer: I've only seen one or two episodes of Mad Men and so, if his character has become a power-hungry villainous genius there, it's new to me).

I've already seen that movie

Cool. Give me some time to find a roll of extra strong sticky tape and to, well, build a rocket, and I'll be right over!
