Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice (...awful) Pre-Release Discussion - Page 264
I "left" the boards before I watched this, so I never got to chime in.
I... kinda liked it. It's overlong, extremely dumb and outright misguided through much of its story.
But it's Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman punching a big monster while an electric cello plays in the background. Even for a super snob like me (I think "The Tree of Life" is one of the 5 best films ever made, that's how much of a pretentious douche I am), that's way too much fun to dismiss.
I was grinning through most of the runtime (and through all of its third act). I was legitimately entertained by it. And, frankly, I still am very interested in how a film that was undoubtedly Studio-Managed to a tee, written by an Oscar-winning writer (he didn't deserve it, but he's certainly talented and I did get the sense he was going for something different) ended up as such a crazy, disjointed mess of a movie. I am interested in it as a film student and I am even more interested in it as a Mental Illness sufferer/patient.
SO MANY choices in this film make ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING SENSE at all, but I can still see myself watching this again in theatres; firstly as a psychological study, then, simply, because I really really had fun. Dumb, senseless fun. But fun, nonetheless.
It's the one-night-stand-with-someone-you-dislike-but-is-really-hot-and-kinda-good-in-bed of films.
It's also the best film Zack Snyder has ever made. That's not a compliment, but it's... a sentence.
Probably a 5. 5/10.
