NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ... aaaaaaaaaaaah fuck it, that's a really good line up and my vote wouldn't have changed anything anyway.

The surprises for me:

1. I thought I was as good as alone on CHUD in prefering 30 Rock to Parks & Rec and Community. Not that I don't enjoy all three, just that I thought the order in which they delight me made me a beautiful snowflake.

2. Friends is super uncool, but quality-wise belongs at least in the Top 15. Fantastic sixsome of leads and some amazing guest stars used brilliantly. Even as it waned toward the end it was always super watchable.

3. I really thought the Seinfeld and Curb would be more beloved.

4. I'd never even heard of Soap and there it is in the top 12.

This list makes me feel really old.

Good list. I stopped voting because I was away on holiday for most of this and it didn't seem right to jump back in after so long away, and to be honest I was perfectly satisfied with the way the list was shaping up. Well... I'd have seen South Park go much higher, and Red Dwarf going out so early is a shame, but it's pretty much fair. For a while that show was amazing, but it lost its way hard when Rob Grant jumped ship and has never managed to reach the same heights since.

Oh well, Fawlty won and Blackadder made the top five so I'm a happy camper.

That's a very solid Top Five.  Can't argue with it at all.

I thought Larry Sanders, Seinfeld and the UK Office would all finish higher than they did.  And I would have liked to have seen some of the classic like All in the Family and Mary Tyler Moore do better.  But I can't complain with that 1-2 combo, although I think 30 Rock is a tad high.

Switching out the inexplicably-highly-placed NewsRadio for Seinfeld wouldn't be a bad thing. Also, the Simpsons somewhere in the top 10 would be expected, no? At least when considering its first ten years of genius-level, hysterical social commentary.

But really, a damned fine list with a solid top five.

Lest our "Woe is Me, the Simpsons were not top 10!?! Who will think of the children?" hand waving freakoutery continue, it is only 3 spots out of Top 10. I do think NewsRadio is way too high, but in an attempted comprehensive list of sixty comedy shows since the early 60s, that is a fabulous top 25.

I maintain that Arrested Development is heinously low, as it is the greatest American comedy by a country mile. I would have accepted Fawlty Towers as #1, but that's it.
