My question would be why even bother with VHS at all anymore?... |
I can say that, for me, there are a few movies that I just want to have because I like them enough to own, but I don't really care about any behind the scenes stuff or "extras". For example, I found Apocalypse Now Redux on VHS for $4 at Wal-mart. A good movie, but since I'm not heavily into war films, I got something decent for a fair price. At the same time, if there's only a couple dollars' difference in the price of a film between the two formats, I'll almost always go with DVD. I don't have a home theater setup so most of the technical features are lost on me.
Largely, it boils down to price, with other factors thrown in. I don't see VHS going away completely for some time yet. It's still a fairly viable, though imperfect, media format.
Just my $0.02 worth.
