I'd chalk it up as the blabbering of a chickenhawk who's never spent a day in uniform, but has a different AR-15 for every day of the week stored where his kids can get their hands on them.

I stereotype people. So sue me.

No, you're not missing anything!

And the person who said this to me (while a bit drunk) is just this skinny video game/anime/Transformers fan that works at a hospital.  Has no interest in guns and is not a chickenhawk (as far as I'm aware).

so weird...

Bokeem Woodbine confirmed as Shocker in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. Very familiar face. He was great in Noah Hawley's FARGO

What about Captain Janeway?!?!?!?

EDIT: And if you are going to be a chicken...be a chickenhawk!  Best way to be a chicken in my opinion: "I'm 30% hawk on my mother's side."

Possible Thor: Ragnorak spoiler regarding a cameo:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I can't see it, but some people are reporting that the address on the card being held by Thor in this tweet by his new movie's writer, is 177A Bleeker Street; the address of one Doctor Stephen Strange. So I guess Benedict Cumberbatch might be in Thor: Ragnorak which would make sense if good ol' Thor is investigating those mysterious infinity gems.

This concept art for GOTG 2 is doing it for me.

Not that you didn't believe it, but I quickly changed the brightness and contrast. Very cool!

Jeff Bridges is still my favorite MCU villain thus far.

I'm weird..
He was great. "TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE!"

I love that line so much. The MCU has great lines like that, lines that define the character and highlights what makes them special. I'm thinking of skinny Steve telling Erskine "I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from." And Frank Castle's "Your way's bullshit, Red, it doesn't work, I need them dead, I need them gone! It's gotta be permanent, it's gotta be finished!"

Dat Bernthal.

Hope there's a twist and that's not Odin, just Wacky Hobo Steve who Thor and Loki mistake for Odin and take on an adventure with them.

Kinda interesting piece in THR about an unsung founder of Marvel Studios. This saw print in May evidently, but was new to me. Some good stuff about film rights and financials I didn't know:

Caught a bit of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 last night and I really wonder, in the deepest, darkest parts of the Internet, is there a passionate fanbase for this duology? The kind that are deeply upset there will never be a third movie that ties up loose ends, are boycotting the new Tom Holland movie and try to start petitions to bring "their" Spider-Man back?

There has to be, out there on Reddit or Tumblr.

It lives right here, and it thrives, feeding on Nooj's heartblood. How have you missed it?

I'm talking more about teenagers writing fan fiction and drawing lots of chibi pictures of Garfield Spidey and Stone Gwen chastely holding hands.

Maybe not that, but I remember people, on this very forum, trying to justify themselves for liking that first film. Going so far as to start ragging on Raimi's first two spider films.

heheheh, so true

What a dull crappy movie.

Not like its wonderful sequel at all!

Also:  it's not quite what Bart is looking for (no petitions against Holland), but it's something!

Ho ho ho, "risky material." This person puts me to shame in the stretch department.

I still vastly prefer Raimi's first two films, but I like the first Amazing Spider-man. I though Spider-man, the character, was great in the second movie, but I ended up hating everything else about it. That said, I am not poo-pooing the new movie at all. I am not seeking any closure to the Amazing Spider-Man movies. I am so damn excited to see the next iteration. Spider-Man is my favorite comic hero by a massive margin.

I'm not poo-poohing the new film, but man, I'm just not seeing it with Holland. Or rather, I don't really see how Holland plays the character any differently from his predecessors: he's white, nerdy and does the spiderman thing with the joking and the swinging and the webbing.

And while I'm not really excited for another set of spiderman films, I did think that if we weren't going to get Miles as the main mcu spider, then I'd have no problems with garfield coming back.

New hotness: baby Spidey
Old and busted: 40 year old man-child Spidey
post #1580 of 2775
His introductory scene alone, what with his reaction to seeing Tony Stark in his living room, was enough to put aome confidence in me.

That plus his verbal diarrhea and quips while fighting.

Maguire portrayed him as too shy and unsure as Parker, and his cockiness while suited up didn't come across as natural, more of "this is how I should sound while I am in hero mode!!"

Then in Garfield, they amped it up into near overdrive in the first ASM (he's a skater!)

Didn't see ASM2... Yet?...

I look forward to the day when the MCU wholesale folds an old franchise into the fold. I had hoped they would do it with Garfield, but now I'm holding out hope Blade gets retroactively brought in.

And I would love Hugh Jackman to show up as Wolverine with no attempt to reconcile discrepancies. Just don't even acknowledge mutants.

I'm getting antsy about what they're going to do with Blade. Snipes said they've at least had meetings but no solid word. AGENTS OF SHEILD wanted him but they said no way.

Hopefully they do something pretty cool, Snipes or not, because they cancelled the comics series they had planned because the higher ups had "bigger plans".

The funny thing is that the comics have done this before. Angela, after years of McFarlane and Gaiman fighting in court, got bought out by Marvel and was given a completely new origin (sister of Thor).

Just pick and choose cool stuff, like Snipes's Blade and Jackman's Wolverine, and move forward.

I want Blade, but I don't want to see him in a watered-down pg-13 film.

That ain't my Blade
I wouldn't have a problem with any of that. I could even see Blade popping up on Netflix. I'm looking forward to the new Punisher series. I wouldn't mind bringing in any of Fox's X-Men. They'd be in different hands, they could work better, or recast. I don't even care if they recast Jackman quickly.

Yeah I've only read some Guardians comics with this new Angela. I used to have the McFarlene action figure when I was like ten.

I suppose both Blade and the only salvageable aspects of Fox's X-Men, Wolverine and Deadpool, don't really belong in the MCU's very specific kind of PG-13.

Just throw them together in one movie!

Well I know the DEADPOOL movie used more than one thing that Marvel technically owns, like Bob and the helicarrier. But the director said they've since met with Fiege and he was all for it. They also begged to have a Deadpool/Spidey team up. They were probably escorted from the building.
Yeah but they had to be clever about those things; Bob from Hydra was just Bob.

Deadpool popping into the MCU would be perfect, because he would be self-aware that he doesn't fit in.

Sigh, FOX, he's all you've got post-Wolverine 3. Make the deal with Disney already.

Blade would be out of place with Thor and Ant-Man, be he could fux wit the Defenders.
I am so so very terrified fox sticks their foxy fingers all over Deadpool 2 in desperation and ruin the soufflé.

I've never gotten an impression that Fox micromanages the X-Men movies to death. They make a lot of strange choices, but seem to stick with creators for the long haul.

The black costumes and insistence on an obligatory F-bomb, usually from Wolverine, each movie now feels like they're not worried about pandering to kids or anything.

So basically...Netflix series thenot.

I'm fine with Netflix essentially being Marvel Knights

and they never actually said "helicarrier", they just assumed people would get it.

It's funny that such an utterly generic character (She's an angel! Oh, what's her name? Uh... Angela!) should be the subject of any wrangling, much less be considered some kind of "get" by Marvel.

But I suppose she must have come with the package that sorted out the Marvelman rights. Waste not want not. But Christ, talk about taking pains to shoehorn a total nothing character into the MU...

Oh yeah, why not do a Blade series on Netflix? It's as cheap as Daredevil. There aren't any heavy cgi.

Blade doing a scene with Captain America would be worth any watering down, I think. Besides, this is a huge Disney movie. They can just pay for whatever rating they want.
