He's an evil ectoplasmic entity created by all the bad vibes and ill-directed hate generated by online movie geeks.

Well let us put this is perspective. Here are its relative powers.

It has wings, and flies.
It looks kind of gargoylish.
It regenerates quite rapidly. But can not regenerate everything completely.
It has the power to absorb body part into its own body.
It also has great medical knowledge for surgery.
It has a very long life span, but must hibernate for some unknown reason.
It is very strong physically, very agile.
It can also climb walls with ease.
It has an affinity with crows?
It has a definite skill/sense on how/who to find to better itself.
It has the power to improve itself over time with the creatures it absorbs.

My guess would be it has to be something created by magic or something summoned for an other world such as hell, or the abyss.

So my guess would be it some sort of lesser predatory devil from an other plane of existence.

Ok, ok I really don't know but my guess still stands.

Cheers!

I'd rather not know what he is. Just let him be. The more you know, the less scary he gets.

Let him creep, let him creep,
Let him creep, let him creep!
Creeping words of wisdom,
Let him creeeeeeep!

I'm bigger than Jesus now.

I'm right there with you, Scott, the more ambigous the Creeper is the better. I don't to know what he is, where he's from, or how long he's been here. It's much more effective to know that he just is, and always has been.

Ditto that. I'm a big fan of that postmodern element. I've said it before. Tagging an explanation grounds the character and gets rid of the anxiety that character is responsible for. Not having an explanation essentially tells us that the universe is random, and nothing you do can change that. Something about the helplessness of the human element is what makes the whole thing creepy for me.

You do make a good point Scott, the less you know the more scary he is. I have been wondering on what the hell the damn thing is since the release of the movie though. I guess not finding out is better.

It would be a huge mistake to explain the Creeper. I remember when the first came out and a lot of people were complaining about that, but aside from the first twenty minutes, the non-explanation of the Creeper was the only thing I DID like.

Amen Brudda Scott!

Well, what i do know he is is a man in a horribly stupid looking rubber suit. If the movie had NEVER taken him out of the trench coat or the shadows, i woudl rank it amongts my most favored classics.

But he is a power ranger enemy gone bad forever more to me........

I'll answer all your questions with one word...

NO

I don't know... I mean they had to show him eventually. Every film needs a pay-off. I do think they showed him a bit too early on, though. Kinda blew their load with that one.

But back on topic... I suspect that whatever the Creeper is, it has something to do with Bea Arthur.

No they don't HAVE to show it. And when they do they needn't be so overt about it. Didn't people freak about Blair Witch because they DIDN'T show anything?

But regardless, in todays day and age, if you can't do better than a hokey padded wetsuit, then don't try. I LOVED that movie, up until he looked like a reject from the old Gargoyles movie.... now the movie Gargoyles was GREAT for it's time. But in modern times that is not enough.

I think there is a trend here in modern movies, and i don't think it is the writers doing. i think someone who looks at dollar signs wants there to be a payoff to every film. They are planning the toys bfore the film releases even (the tooth fairy anyone?). The mentality is that the audience needs to be able to define the bad guy, and they need closure. And the good guys have to win at least the battle if not the war.

JC? Leave him in the trench coat and shadows, the movie woudl have been brilliant.

House on Haunted Hill? Friggen amazing. But make Jeff Combs in jitter cam come out at the end, dump the CGI tar mess. That ruined another otherwise brilliant movie.

13 Ghosts? That actually had a greta ending... but kill the humour and the wife coming back. Why not play up that the Zodiac was just again released unto the world! I want to write asequel to this with the Son growing up and using his resources to retrap the Zodiac and end their terror, but i digress.

The Ring? more peopel should have died. All but her should have died. really give it impact.

Ghost Ship? no one shoudl make it out alive. and after that big build up, what a horribly anticlimactic battle the end was. With all that power the fight goes like that?

these could have been truly great movies, and i like them all. but they are not regarded as highly as i might if they had not wimpd out with the commercial crap endings, or the toned down horror.

Give us both barrels to the face damnnit, we can take it!

While I won't comment on the other films, I just want to say that with Jeepers Creepers, the way they were telling the story, I think The Creeper did need to be shown.

The story was of a nature that you knew you'd see it eventually. They tried to build to that point. I think they did it too early, but hey, that's me.

Now if Jeepers Creepers set up more of a "Lovecraftian" vibe early in the film, I would agree that the monster should not have been seen. But the Creeper was operating in broad daylight. The movie itself had more of a monster movie feel, than that of a mysterious thriller.

Well, that's my two cents.

3 thing were missing for me to make JC an instant classic IMHO.

1) I actually did not care one way or an other about the main characters so go on and kill them I didn't really care. Go Creeper.

2) Remove the useless pathetic psychic crap. It was totally useless and just irritating.

3) The ending was great, but I wish it would have keep on going a little… "then you see the sister driving to her parent place a night from the police station and The Creeper lands right on the cars roof and then fade to black while hearing her scream…"

Cheers!
