This article from Ben Shapiro about Trump's conservative bonafides is inadvertently funny:

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/438831/donald-trump-conservatism-second-language#pq=rGee1Z

Quote:
Donald Trump makes the same assessment of his voters that Barack Obama did: They are bitter clingers who cling to God and guns and xenophobia.

Quote:
Because conservatism is a foreign land to Trump, he regularly and unintentionally demeans conservative positions and philosophies. He allows the media to caricature conservatism as everything leftists have always believed conservatism to be: nasty, parochial, violent, and stupid.

Uh, Ben, is it possible that Trump being the Republican nominee might prove him right?

Oh God, be careful. That's exactly the kind of fate-tempting rhetoric that'll make Clinton think it's fine to start putting her foot in her mouth and scoring own goals again.

The two terms of Bush always makes me wary of our nation so I won't be complacent until after the election.   One good thing about the situation we find ourselves in is the opportunity to focus on the kind of Electoral Landslide we haven't seen since '84.   Will we get 49 out of 50 states?   Maybe not but we should try.

Is Hillary even campaigning? The news is just what Trump said, what people say he said, and what people say about what he said/meant to say.

Hillary's been busy endorsing Kissinger and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and was recently sued by two parents of victims in Benghazi. She's doing her best to suck, but Trump has no equal.

I can't believe we're actually in a moment where a presidential candidate, and I use that term loosely, is basically playing a game of chicken with CNN and the Secret Service.

Yeah, but the lawsuit is at least at a glance pretty much complete bullshit that will probably be dismissed before it ever reaches trial.  Just some right wing lawyer preying on those parents to make some headlines during election season.

As much as I don't care for Schultz, Clinton's endorsement of her isn't surprising.  She was never going to endorse a primary challenger who supported her opponent for the presidential nomination, Schultz and Clinton have been close for years, Schultz has a lot of connections in Florida (a state where the Clinton campaign obviously wants to do well) and loyalty is the currency that matters when it comes to the Clintons.  President Obama and Vice President Biden have also endorsed Schultz's re-election.

The guy who climbed the tower is Steve ("Not everyone is Steve!!!"), and he's a Trump supporter.   He had an "important matter" to discuss with Trump.  Maybe next time, he'll put the matter in the video:

If not for the authoritarianism; violence; racism; misogyny; lies and Putin-enabling, this would be the most entertaining election of all time.

Giuliani ranting about the Clintons right now on Hardball; angry that Bill once received a $1.2 million speaking-fee.

...Yeah, because the Clintons are the first politicians in human history ever to get paid for doing that.

In the closest he's come to acknowledging Trump's 2nd amendment dog whistle (without claiming he didn't watch the clip) Paul Ryan says he wants people to shut out all the "noise and news that try to distract" so they can focus on "pushing and pounding good ideas."

Pushing and pounding. Jesus, this fucking election.

He literally just called Obama and Hillary "the founders of ISIS" minutes ago at a Florida rally.

Katy Tur got done speaking on Maddow right before the last commercial break (live from the rally), and said Republican politician has ever dared to link Obama and Clinton to ISIS directly before.

Despite, y'know, Bush pretty much being the babydaddy, here.

What I found amusing is that on MSNBC, they were interviewing the correspondent there at the rally and this song was playing over the stadium audio system.

I wonder if it was intentional based on some of the lyrics....ironically, the lyrics could apply to HC as well as Trump.

The hacking scandal was way worse than initially anticipated:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/11/us/politics/democratic-party-russia-hack-cyberattack.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0

Quote:

The widening scope of the attack has prompted the F.B.I. to broaden its investigation, and agents have begun notifying a long list of Democratic officials that the Russians may have breached their personal accounts.

The main targets appear to have been the personal email accounts of Hillary Clinton’s campaign officials and party operatives, along with a number of party organizations.

Officials have acknowledged that the Russian hackers gained access to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which is the fund-raising arm for House Democrats, and to the Democratic National Committee, including a D.N.C. voter analytics program used by Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign.

But the hack now appears to have extended well beyond those groups, and organizations like the Democratic Governors’ Association may also have been affected, according to Democrats involved in the investigation.

Democrats say they are bracing for the possibility that another batch of damaging or embarrassing internal material could become public before the November presidential election.

This is going to be really bad, isn't it?

No rush, Donald:

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/08/10/email-trump-campaign-scrambling-sw-ohio/88514306/

Quote:

With the presidential election 90 days away, the Donald Trump campaign is scrambling to set up the basics of a campaign in Hamilton County, a key county in a swing state crucial to a Republican victory, a recent internal email obtained by The Enquirer shows.

The campaign has yet to find or appoint key local leaders or open a campaign office in the county and isn't yet sure which Hamilton County Republican party's central committee members are allied with the Republican presidential nominee.

"If they are against us, we just need to know," wrote Missy Mae Walters, Southwest Ohio regional coordinator for the campaign.

Even campaign materials, such as signs and stickers, aren't yet available.

"We have been promised they're on their way," she wrote.

The campaign plans to open 25 Trump "Victory Centers" statewide, she said, but a planned Monday opening of an office in Kenwood got held up waiting for a legal department sign-off. Some volunteer training sessions have been set up with more planned, she wrote.

Meanwhile, the Clinton campaign is far more prepared in Ohio:

Quote:
The state of the Clinton campaign in the county and statewide stands in stark contrast. It had 12 offices open across Ohio at the end of last week, with local offices in Walnut Hills, Pleasant Ridge and Woodlawn. The campaign is opening seven more offices this week, including a Mason office on Wednesday night.

Plus, the Republicans have pretty thoroughly desensitized everyone to EVIL HILLARY MONSTER!!!1!1!

Unless there's an email detailing how she likes her daily breakfast of fetal tissue prepared, I doubt it'll result in more than a shrug from the public. They're the boy that cried wolf. No one outside the echo chamber is listening any more.

The average milquetoast candidate that conceals all his evil and stupidity might be able to run with a minor scandal and turn the election (a la Bush v Dukakis). That's not going to happen here. Trump has lost every non-white ethnic group, women and the educated of every group (oh, and even Mormons). I can't even imagine anything that could happen to put any of those groups back in play.

She'd flat out have to get arrested, I think.

I would say that if this country actually elected that man, I think I'd pretty much lose all hope in the species, and that's been a sustaining thought. It just seems so impossible.

But then, we're America. We can turn on a dime to fuck shit up.

Well, he's now flatly calling our President the founder of ISIS.

it's a testiment to how much I admire Obama that this offends me more than any of the other crazy shit he's said in the last month.

Now I hate Trump as much as the next guy but am I just so desensitized to him now that I saw the "Founders of ISIS" comment and basically shrugged and said "He obviously didn't mean it literally?"

I mean, it's asinine political rhetoric, but I can see what he's going for, figuratively.  Basically trying to convince people that ISIS is President Obama's fault (and Hillary's, of course).

Yeah, he's using bullshit rhetoric to get across a point. I don't claim to know more than generals, but to some degree - and it pains me to say this - Trump sorta has a point. ISIS arose for many reasons, two of them being Bush's disastrous foreign policies and then Obama's uncertainty re: Syria. Power vacuums were created, and when ISIS first congealed, they weren't taken very seriously.

But Trump's obviously digging deeper here. There's some barely coded language he's using to reinforce that he's a SECRET MUSLIM and therefore wants to destroy America.

Ahhh, there's the missing link.  I hadn't connected it to the "secret muslim" nonsense.

Though I still try to wrap my brain about what could have been done differently in Syria that wouldn't have involved an outright invasion (which probably would have been a far bigger disaster than what we got).

I can't opine on what we could/should have done differently. Frontline did an excellent program on the origins of ISIS, and the shitshow in Syria was the second fortuitous ingredient that really helped them grow (the first being the shitshow created directly by Dubya in Iraq).

This is the guy who post-Miami shooting said of Obama and the terrorist "there's something going on there.." The dog whistles have now turned to flat out calling him the Founder of ISIS. At a certain point I want to fulfill these nuthobs persecution complex for them because this shit is approaching treason. I remember the Bush years, and how passionately I felt we were going the absolute wrong direction post-9/11. I remember hearing the conspiracy talk in dark corners of the Internet.

But just IMAGINE if Kerry had, as the Democratic candidate for President, said that He had "reason to believe" that Cheney and Bush were responsible for 9/11. This is the level of shit we've been reduced to here folks. For 8 years this guy has been one of the louder voices seeking to delegitimize our President, insinuating that he's lied about his religion (so fucking WHAT if he was Muslim anyway? Last I checked that was perfectly OK) and constantly insinuating that the President sympathizes with Islamic terrorists. If Obama was his mother's shade of pale and his last name were Smith none of that would have ever been floated. The injustices our President has had to stomach with grace have gone far beyond politics.

Optics be damned, when a candidate for President insinuates his opponent might need to be assassinated if she wins and accuses the sitting President of founding a terrorist organization, hasn't he become a clear and present danger to the Union? It would fulfill every persecution fantasy his followers have, but what does he have to do for the Secret Service to walk out on stage the next time he speaks and just say "You're done here." and escort him away?

I hate this man and need him to lose so badly it haunts him for the rest of his life.

Not only does he need to lose badly, but then he needs to get a new Arnold Schwarzenegger voice mail every day until he dies, just mocking his hair.

"Hello Dawnawld, diz iz Awnald. I lozt my pet guinea pig, can yah pull it off yah head and zend it to me? I'll be bawk... tomorrow. Haw haw haw haw haw - " CLICK.
