SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING (Jon Watts, 2017) - Page 47

I feel like Laboratory Venom was more likely to fall in line with the direction the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN films were wandering down.
It's a shame they can't jokingly do the DEADPOOL-involved symbiote origin:

I think so, yeah. What, with all the super secret shit that Richard and Mary were involved with, I'm pretty sure Venom was going to come about from something they were working on.

Thank goodness the second one was a flop, because that would have been dull as hell. Probably really interesting to see how they could possibly fuck up Venom worse than Spider-Man 3, though.

I'm kind of hopeful that the upcoming Venom movie will be Sony's version of Deadpool as many have speculated. I've never watched This Means War and so I've no idea how Hardy does when it comes to comedy. Of course, the chance of it being an R-rated comedy as some have put forth are going to be jeopardized if it does become part of the MCU.

Actually I'd be cool with a full-length version of this:

A silent film?

Huh, that's weird. And turns out it's hard to find a version with sound.

But here's one:

That's kind of interesting.

Actually in ASM2 Harry is in the Oscorp lab and he walks by a bunch of stuff behind glass mean't to set up future sequels. The vulture wings are one of those things but so is Venom. Also I think there was a venom file in one of the computers in one of those movies.

Yeah, it's directed by Joe Lynch who did the surprisingly solid Wrong Turn 2 and stars Ryan Kwanten from Dead Silence and True Blood. So yeah, not exactly A-list talent, but in its aping of Man Bites Dog it feels like it has more on its mind than what Sony will most likely churn out.

Not sure how much coverage it's gotten here but Sony's animated Miles Morales film (from Phil Lord and Chris Miller) just added Brian Tyree Henry and Mahershala Ali to its voice cast.

Here comes Amy Pascal with her drunken lisp to tell us that the animated film is connected to the MCU, too.

I hope it's as great as he's heard!

Just found out I am seeing it Wednesday. Wednesday can't come fast enough.

Like *most* Marvel movies, I'm sure it'll be good and promptly forgotten about 6 months from now.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Gwyneth's back as Pepper Potts, Donald Glover is playing Miles Morales' uncle, and Jennifer Connelly is in it? Not as Betty Ross, but I don't recall that ever being announced.
MAC GARGAN?! The Scorpion!!

Forgot that Donald Glover was in this.  Also, Martin Star? As one of Parker's teachers, I assume.

If Connelly was back, I wouldn't expect her to reprise her role from Ang Lee's Hulk. Liv Tyler replaced her in the Hulk movie that's counted as part of the shared universe franchise.

Maybe she's She-Hulk!

Right, because Marvel's balked at recasting roles.

Right, Terence Howard? Right, Edward Norton?

Right, Sam Elliott?!

Actually, people who have seen the movie confirmed she's not in it.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
At least visually; It seems Connelly is the voice of the Stark AI inside the suit Tony gives Peter
post #2326 of 2874
Oh, shiiit!

Damn. Me in a skin-tight suit with Jennifer Connelly whispering in my ear all the time would not make for a family-appropriate movie.

No kidding.

I'll be in my bunk..

Okay, that's mildly amusing.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
So Paul Bettany spent several years as an AI voice for Marvel and now his wife is doing exactly the same?!

Ha.

So who's Zendala playing? Carnage?

Yes.
Christ! SPOILERS!

I'm actually curious.

I was going to make reference to your curiosity regarding DT's R-rated skin-tight suit idea above, but I don't have the energy or the heart to google image search "nerds in skin-tight costumes".

Think I'll just go to the fridge and get a beer.

No, there's a rumor that I'm interested in knowing if it's true or not.

It's true. All of it.

She's Liz.

I thought that was someone else.

YOU.  THOUGHT.  WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

The spoiler's floating around. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned upthread not too long ago.

She's MARTHA.

So she's not playing Mary Jane? That'll have to be the first time one of those "I'm TOTALLY not playing Character X, I'm completely original character Frederick Blirmingham!" denials has panned out.

She's Ra's al Ghul.
The word-of-mouth is through the roof tonight.

I really thought I would give this one a pass, but that statement intrigues me.

iO9 has another Twitter round-up. It'll be a week before we see full reviews, they report, but the social media embargo was lifted tonight.

Mothra?!!! Ohh.......

I've heard the Zendaya rumor, it's intriguing. Seems like a very good idea.

So much for superhero fatigue. This year, the only sure thing, w/ regards to quality and grosses, are the superhero films. Logan, Guardians, Wonder Woman and now this. And everything else is disappointing. No end in sight.
