STAR WARS: REBELS Season 1 - Page 4

They should really take a look at how Vader's being handled in his solo Marvel comic.  That's badass Vader done to perfection.

Unless of course they start introducing Jedi coming out of the woodwork for Vader to cut down in droves, but even then they'll feel like "cheap" victories.

And yes, this was written in such a manner as to not say anything about Fulcrum's identity.  Suffice to say they fall into the "other Jedi that might show up" category.  Oddly, I'm even more skeptical about them keeping that particular character improbably alive, possibly to the point of showing up in the Sequel trilogy someday.

As soon as Fulcrum's identity was revealed I was like "that's pretty neat." Then when it became clear Vader was going to probably have a bigger presence next season, all I could think about his how dead the revealed character is soon. It would be kind of ballsy to have Vader kill both Kanan and Ezra at the end of the series though.

Yeah.  He's been handled really well there as both schemer and unstoppable force of doom.  Fingers crossed they get that mix here

(and, cynically, I wonder if Ahsoka is partially being used here so he can kill someone in Season 2 who isn't Ezra or Kanan, though I suspect Vader and Ahsoka's reunion, if well-done, would be pretty devastating).

I don't know....

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Ahsoka has proven popular, and they already gave her the workaround to avoid getting Order 66'ed, so I'm wondering if there's a hesitation to kill her off simply because she's basically been the "go to" character for girls that might enjoy Clone Wars/Rebels/Etc...

Then again, you might be able to pass that mantle on to Hera and Sabine (and Rey from Episode VII), so maybe they're feeling more "free" to kill off Ahsoka now.

And yeah, that confrontation could be great...wondering if they'll go with "she knows Vader's identity" or if they'll go with "She doesn't" and use it for a major emotional beat.  I'm hoping/betting on the latter.

And yes, killing of Kanan and Ezra would be ballsy.  Though while I'm quite willing to put even odds on Kanan not making it out of the show alive, I bet Ezra survives, and possibly transfers to the big screen eventually (in an older form, obviously).

I'm mostly wondering if my initial hunch was correct, and with this "three-four year arc" they have planned if it will end up precisely where I thought it would as soon as it was announced, and this motley crew of Rebels will be established as the group that stole the original Death Star Plans....

Which will make for like the fifth or sixth time that story has been told, but probably the first "official canon" version.

That season finale was quite terrific. Very intrigued by the introduction of SPECIAL GUEST STAR at the end and of course seeing Darth Vader at the end means we'll be seeing a lot more of him in the next season. Filoni's interview about the season finale on www.starwars.com is really good and insightful.

Just caught up. Excellent last few episodes. The Kanan inquisitor fight was brilliant.

Also good to see Moff Tarkin being a totally ruthless bastard.

So, for someone only familiar with the movies, who was Fulcrum? I assume not Bail Organa.

If the season can live up to that trailer we're in for a treat.

Special two-parter aired tonight, to preview S2 in September.

And man, this show's Vader is one hardcore bastard.

They played the preview in June and the show doesn't air till September?

That's dark.

It's really, really bizarre scheduling.  Not as bugfuck crazy as the combination of numerology, fortune telling, entrail reading and dart throwing that is apparently used to schedule Gravity Falls, but it's weird.  Especially because September is when the big TFA merchandise push begins.

Still, very fun premiere.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
So long, Lothal. Glad to see we're leaving you behind for awhile.  And goddamn is it great to hear JEJ as Vader. He's still got it.

You said it.  I seriously love this show - in about 10 minutes of total screen time they restored Darth Vader to someone whom you would truly run the fuck away from.

And the writing is pretty top notch - I love little stuff like how Darth always referred to Anakin Skywalker as this totally other person, which drives home the total cliff he walked off when he decided to go down this path.  Lots of people change their names or go by a nom de guerre, but I loved that he did the 3rd person bit in the OT, and I dig it in this show too.  It ALMOST (because nothing truly can), but almost allows me to think of whiny-ass Anakin as this totally other guy that he locked away in a cell deep in his brain, and chose to be Vader partially because he didn't want to be this whiny prat anymore.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Scene where he Force-throws off the crashed walkers and just keeps coming like a bloody Terminator was the kind of imagery the Prequels should have been giving us.  This show rocks my boat.

This show makes me forget the 3 prequels....and that's a good thing.

The prequels are great and are canon so try and forget all you like, it will avail you nothing my young padawan. ;)

We Canadians are getting this next weekend and I can't wait!

The preview stuff I've seen makes it look like it's taken a jump in both scope and production value.

So much of my excitement for The Force Awakens is due to how good this show is.

Because it shows so well that the people behind the scenes at Disney "get" what Star Wars is supposed to be.  What makes it so special.

Absolutely cannot wait for Season 2.

That was fantastic.  Although I get the feeling Vader was just here for this two-parter and will be ceding things to Inquisitors once the series picks up in the fall.  But man, THAT was my Vader right there.  Him just flying in solo and wiping out everything was glorious.  And then, "The apprentice lives..."  Just perfect.

Everything Filoni has said indicates Vader will be used VERY sparingly- with other Inquisitors being called in to fill the villain gap.  I'd guess we'll only see him once or twice more this season.

It was a great start to an expanded second season- 22 episodes, I think.  It will be interesting to see what they do with that much more story time.

Question for US Chewers. Is season 1 on blu ray? I've looked in the UK and it only seems to be released on DVD.

I think I heard on a Podcast that Amazon briefly had the S1 BluRay up for pre-order, but it then disappeared.  I believe the release window was October, but I could be wrong on that one.

Finally got round to watching The Siege of Lothal.

The shot of Vader lifting up the walker, completely surrounded by flames is absolutely bad ass.
