Evil Dead the tv series on STARZ - Page 14

The morgue scene made me howl with laughter. I'm surprised Raimi didn't love it, it was the perfect squeal in the theater with an audience kind of moment.

Yeah, I was laughing out loud in between saying "...are they really going to do this....yep, they did it."

It's over the top but this whole series is 'over the top'....FFS, the guy has a chainsaw hand.

Also, I am going to continue to push for a Ash & Jack Burton team up until it happens.

Watching The Evil Dead with commentary, I'm not surprised at all. Raimi considers the tree rape scene to be in poor taste, so it makes sense that Ash's head up a vagina might not be suitable for Raimi's sensibilities today.

I think the casting for the show has been uniformly awful except for Campbell and lawless.

Too much humor. First episode only one fully on point, with good scenes sprinkled throughout. Abysmal s2 ending.

Aww, I like Pablo and Kelly -- I just think they have been mishandled. Agreed on the season 2 finale. I hope the soft reboot of the third season works out well.

Don't forget the great casting of that cop .... or the demon Lord doctor guy with absolutely zero screen presence.

As for Pablo and Kelly .. I do not share your opinion.
I'm not on the Kelly/Pablo train. Not the actors, it's how they're handled. They're above Ash, too observational to be dramatic. Their characters should be the reason we care about what happens in the end. We always know Ash will be Ash.

And yes all the other actors have brought nothing, particularly that S2 baddie.

I don't know guys....I realize I'm late to the party when it comes to this show but I think you guys are taking it way too seriously.

I've been watching it and it strikes me as a live action cartoon....a really fucked up Sid & Marty Kroft series with a bunch of gore and silliness. It's dumb fun.

I, for one, really like Army of Darkness over the previous ED films which is maybe why I like this series so much.

I liked most of the first season and parts of the second, but the casting has been off since the beginning.

After a good first episode the second season was a big step down (with an awful ending), IMHO, and it didn't help that the "big bad" had no menace to him at all.  It also doesn't give me much hope for the future when the one sequence I really loved from the second season apparently got the showrunner fired.

I thought the show did a good job with figuring out Kelly and Pablo in the second season. It was so great up until the ending.

Blame Robert Tarpet pulling the old  "I know what Evil Dead is and we're going with this ending instead of your more creative one instead!" routine.

I really hope Season 3 can bounce back from that finale.

Apologies for criticizing a show that I do actually like.

I think it's production quality is top tier actually. The cinematography and setpieces embarrass other shows that attempt the same.

I look forward to many seasons of watching Ash Scooby Doo around, then coming to this thread to say, "wasn't it cool when Ash said that one-liner? and responding to any criticism with obtuseness.

The problem isn't production quality.  It's casting and scripting.  Heck ... I'd go with mostly casting, frankly.

The problem with this show is that season 3 isn't out yet.

Yes it does. There are distinctly three different Ash's prior to this show. This show seems to have embraced the Army of Darkness version of him. Some people might have preferred Evil Dead 2 Ash, or Evil Dead Ash.

That still doesn't explain how it would make it a "great" show.

Evil Dead 2 is the greatest film of all time. Therefore, a series starring Evil Dead 2 Ash would be the greatest show of all time.

I misunderstood your point. Apologies.

Despite the threadbare continuity, each depiction of Ash works for me as a progression of the same character, so I haven't had a problem with TV Ash being essentially the guy we saw in AOD after decades of a dead end job and steady alcohol consumption.

Um, his head was up a butthole, thank you very much.

Oh.

Yeah, besides the butthole shit stuff, the point of the gag was the Prince Albert flopping in Ash's face. How did you miss that?

Because it's been about 16 months since that episode aired. Apologies that my memory isn't a steel trap.

Would a gif help you remember?

It's so very odd that we're discussing how hazy my memory is about whether a characters head was up an ass or a vagina -- as if the orifice is really that big of a deal.

So, "yes" on the gif?

I just watched it two days ago so its still...fresh in my mind.

Something like Bruce Campbell being up the ass of a dummy corpse while a pierced dick is flopping around is not something I'm not likely to ever forget.

Go ahead and post that gif Overlord. wd40 needs it ingrained in his plastictrap memory.

Nah. I hated that scene anyway.

Yes please.

I really hope that this isn't the final season.

The big monster at the end was cool. Reminded me of the monster at the end of EDII.
