Peaky Blinders Netflix Exclusive err.....sort of

So this is basically Uk Boardwalk Empire and just like Boardwalk the first season is a little rocky. I am a couple episodes into season 2 and so far it's a big step up in quality. Also......Tom Hardy! The cast is pretty impressive with Cillian Murphy and Sam Neill. That was of course a BBC Two show that Netflix bought the US right to so it's not really theirs the way Orange or House of Cards is.

2 episodes into S1 for me.

Really liking it. Cillian Murphy is mesmerising. Dangerously calm man.

Not sure about the soundtrack though. Sounds anachronistic and just grates if I'm honest.

The first half of season one is a bit slow but it really picks up in the second half. The second season is pure gold almost all of the way through.

And I love the soundtrack!

I don't think the quality went up, particularly. It's a tremendously entertaining show, but not a great one. The writing is not tight enough for that. It can reach pretty high highs, though. I love the look, the soundtrack, and Cillian Murphy. His near death scene in season two is a perfect meeting of all the show's best elements.

Nothing huh? I figured this show would have a bigger fan-base here. I am halfway through season 3. Still enjoying it.

It was renewed for a 4th and 5th season. From what I understand it's quite the hit for the BBC.

Yeah the ending of season 3 is a real doozy.

This show is fantastic.  As noted above S2 is the meatiest and best so far.  Hardy slays all around.  Fans of the show shit bricks at the S3 opener and I feel they have done some weird time skips that didn't need to happen.

Also the music fits perfectly in my opinion as a steampunk/gritty type atmosphere.

Need to finish S3 I believe.  Yep, just checked... got Ep6 left.

Something happened in episode 2 that sort of shocked me to see so early in a season. I am curious to see how it drives the plot forward.

John attacking the Italian's son?

If so then it makes for some interesting family dynamics that could be a bigger story in S4 but I don't think much comes of it in S3.  You can see it beginning though.

Nah, Grace getting killed.

Ahhh, duh.... I thought that happened in Ep3 or 4. Ep3 has the weird time skip I didn't care for.

So, uh, Adrian Brody has joined this show.

Hands up who saw that coming?

We've been binge watching this over the past week and just finished S3E2 (we have 4 left).  Fun show, glad to hear that S4 is reportedly in the works.

S4 is out. Littlefinger looks like a pilgrim and Adrian Brody is doing an annoying Brando impression. First two eps have been aces though. Show came back with a vengeance.

Must be pretty good. One of the guys at work rolled in at 8am looking like death warmed up. I asked him if he was ill and he said: "No, stayed up all night watching Peaky Blinders back-to-back. Finished around 4am."

I'm betting he'll fall asleep at his desk around 3pm.

The opening scene is brutal. Big shakeup. So is the final scene. Ep 2 brings some very good "Don't fuck with me" menace from Tommy.

OH HELL YES.

I knew that this was coming but I didn't know when.  My wife is gonna be so very, very excited to watch this.

Im pretty sure it doesn't hit the US until December 21. I don't have Netflix right now but that's what all the sites are saying.

That's good, actually.  We're still trying to motor through S6 of LONGMIRE and a few other shows.  Still, she's gonna be pumped to know that this is coming.

We banged out S4 last night.  We were only going to do a couple of episodes but we ended up doing the entire season...it was that fucking good.  I've liked the show up until this point but holy shit did I love this season.

Yeah it was really strong. Not sure about where we leave things off though. Could be interesting if that's what finally takes the Shelbys down though because it's a world they don't understand that in it's own way is far seedier.

Watched the latest season over New Year's Eve and it's telling that, what started as a "I'll watch three today and three tomorrow" binge, turned into a "I'll watch this all tonight" binge. I have a few minor nitpicks but, on the whole, it was thoroughly entertaining and probably my favorite season since the first. Cillian Murphy continues to be great, although I'd argue that Helen McCrory is the real MVP of the show.

I was not a fan of what they did with Polly this season. I felt it was a genuine character arc but the turn "ruined" it.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I would have rather her actually have upended the family for her safety and Michael's. She's just the bitch for it.

And I don't know about y'all but I thought for sure that Arthur had died. They got me hook, line and sinker on that score.

Yes, to both of those, especially the second one.

Arthur's one of my favorite characters in the show and I was truly upset at the thought of him being dead.

We finished this last night after tearing through the season in two days. (We had to get some Black Mirror in there too!)

My favorite season yet. I'm not super excited to learn that it doesn't return until sometime in 2019. That could be as little as a year from now, or practically two if they stick to a fall/winter release.

I was reading up on the show and learned that the Netflix versions of the episodes don't contain the original music. I'd be really curious what the original music was, because it seems to work very well as I get to see it.
