Hopefully that's enough. I figure this is the best place to get a response to this. My friend heard that there are alternate endings to the movie, one where each character wins. In the version I saw, Jason drove Freddy's arm through Freddy, the chick cut off his head, and Jason carried it out of the lake. Anybody seen a different ending?

This probably stems from something Robert Englund said in what I believe was a radio interview way back. He said they'd make prints half with one ending and half with the other and send them randomly out to theatres. This way, if you wanted to see the other ending you had to go to another theatre and see it again..and then there was still no guarantee it'd be the other.
I always thought that would've been a cool Willam Castle type gimmick for a movie that's a gimmick in itself....but there is really no saving that film IMO.

They did film an alternate ending.

In the alternate ending, the film ends with Monica Keena and her boyfriend having sex for the first time... and then he turns into Freddy.

I asked this in the Official thread but it was skipped over- rememeber how in the trailer, it's Jason that jumps out of the lake? Freddy leaps out in the movie. Is the whole ending different from there or something?

I don't think it was ever Jason jumping out of the lake.

I thought it was once - when I saw the trailer in a theater.

When I had the chance to view the same trailer online - I slowed it down, and it became obvious that it was Frederick. There was only one trailer.

And one ending, for that matter.

The Keena sex-scene ending isn't an alternate ending - it was reshot for two reasons.

1) Test audiences didn't understand why or how it could even occur.

2) Keena was laughably over-the-top faking orgasm.

Apparently, this ending lost the audience completely, so it was excised.

The two endings to FvsJ never did come to fruition. The last time it was set in stone was during Rob Bottin's attactchment.

Damn. Just went and checked it out again, and you're right, it's freddy. Oh well.

Still looking foward to that dvd.
