If this trailer is any indication, Hail To The King: 60 Years of Destruction is going to be a boozy, ground level exploration of Godzilla’s extensive history. That’s totally cool, because there are plenty of academic accounts out there, full of elbow-patch-types falling over themselves to remind the audience that the first film was actually a serious allegory. This seems more keyed-in to the toy collector/beer drinking crowd, which is (inĀ its own way) a totally valid and powerful force, stumping for the legacy of these films.

The great news is, the film is going to be available for free on YouTube as soon as its finished (the website lists Nov 3rd as the release date, so who knows when we’ll actually be able to see it). The fan community funded this project through a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign, so it only makes sense that it be gifted back to them. We’ll try to update you with the release date as it becomes available.
