WTF?

Routh is playing The Atom now? Awesome news since I don't watch ARROW.

Just keep Laurel out of this and we're golden, CW.

Is it officially titled The Brave and the Bold?  If so, that's awesome.

One suggestion I saw was that each week would be a different focus:  week one, the Rogues pull off a heist.  Week 2, Atom.  Week 3, Canary.  And etc.  That would be pretty fantastic.

Also, looks like they're doing three superheroes who haven't appeared "in television" yet, which probably just means not on CW live-action in this bunch.  Vixen is probably one, since she's getting that animated show on the CW's website.  Fingers crossed for Zatanna and, above all, The Question.

In Fish Nets and Top Hat yo!

The inclusion of Caity Lotz is very puzzling. They can't be re-casting her as somebody else, there's no way fans of the CW DCverse will accept her as anyone other than Sara.

Unless this is some kind of anthology show, I'm kind of wondering if this is actually a thing.  I mean...that lineup of characters makes no sense, especially when Captain Cold has all of two appearances under his belt.  Victor Garber but no Robbie Amell?  Back from the "dead" for the third time Caity Lotz?

I get the feeling somebody at CW made an offhand comment/pitch and Deadline just ran with it....

The spinoff is looking for three more series regulars. Here are the character descriptions:

“THE TRAVELER” | A Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.

“FEMALE WARRIOR” | This twentysomething Latina is pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others.

“MYSTERY HERO” | An African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.

Which, I'd imagine, would be handy for someone who's considered a Warrior.

I'm guessing Booster Gold is the time traveller. Hawkgirl could be the warrior woman. The black dude could be one of many characters, hopefully it's not some white dude they race swapped, but rather an actual black character from the comics.

I'd assume that that's supposed to mean she's a threat to her allies, but...yeah.

My guess is:  Booster Gold (though it could be Rip Hunter), Hawkgirl, and Black Lightning.

Those seem like solid guesses.

I dunno...CWDCU has been pretty great so far but this is sounding dangerously like things might be airborne over sea-dwelling apex predators.

The title just makes me want to watch BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD again.  God that show was perfect.

I kind of hate the entire CW DC universe.  The use of powers and enemies is good, really good in fact.  But with both ARROW and THE FLASH the sheer amount of maudlin soap opera bullshit that pads out everything that doesn't include super punchy stuff just repels me.

I mean I get trying to add human drama to these shows to make them more relatable but I wish it didn't come off as such High School Recess Drama bullshit.

Was an official title announced? I never heard about it if so. I kinda thought they might move these characters to a new city (outside Starling or Central) and name the show after that.

And yeah, Garber but no Amell is a little puzzling. Maybe their dynamic gets switched up, with Garber's body wielding the powers and the younger guy reduced to a (recast) voice inside Garber's head?

Sara's umpteenth resurrection is certainly strange... but hey, if it results in more of Caity Lotz' cleavage in that Black Canary outfit, I'm game.

"For us, first and foremost, with all of our shows, it's about 'how is it its own thing'? Because we don't just want to do it to do it. Some people do that and then they're three episodes in, thinking, 'Why did we do this?' So for me, I compare the shows to old Westerns; we have a lot of lone gunmen and sheriffs in town, and this one is very much an ode to things like 'The Magnificent Seven' or those great heist pics like 'Ocean's Eleven' where you get all of those colors at the same time, and a true ensemble, and that was the fun of it."

Definitely a difference between a true ensemble, as they're touting here, and a bunch of supporting characters backing up a central protagonist like Barry or Oliver. It'll be interesting to see how this shapes up!

They just announced Dominic Purcell is joining the cast too.  Maybe this is just an excuse to keep all the in-demand recurring players under contract so they can be available to guest star on Flash or Arrow.

Yes, I'm sure that's it.

Fans of Doctor Who (like what I am) will be interested to know that someone familiar has just joined this show as Rip Hunter "a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit", changing this from a show I had zero interest in to one I might now check out.

Rip Hunter is from the Sylvester Stallone school of character naming that's for sure.

I used to think that about Rip Torn until I realized he was a real person.

Word on the street is that the spin-off will be called LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. Ciara Renee has been cast as Hawkgirl.

The show has officially been picked up!

http://www.deadline.com/2015/05/crazy-ex-girlfriend-dc-legends-of-tomorrow-cordon-cw-series-1201422393/

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13″) and Sarah Schechter (“The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).

I sincerely hope this is a 13 episode show. 23 episodes are part of the reason Arrow has died in the arse this year.

Needs Gorilla Grodd on the team.

I wonder what the obnoxious opening voice-over will be?

"I am Ray Palmer.  I sleep with that hot fake-nerd chick you like.  Occasionally I pretend to be Iron Man.  Shrinking FX are expensive.  Fuck you."

Hopefully it's Victor Garber just being a dickhead.

Hopefully, it's "GRODD JOIN TIME-TRAVELING SUPERTEAM TO CONTINUE WAR ON CLANCY BROWN.  GRODD HATE BANANA!  WATCH GRODD'S SHOW, PUNY HUMANS!"

"I am Rip Hunter. No, not the porn star. Is there a porn star with my name? Probably. And I'm not the guy who starred in Men In Black. That was Rip Torn. Anywho, we are the Legends Of Tomorrow..... because Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and all those dudes are too busy today."

The trailer is on the front page and looks really good!

Oh man that looks like a lot of fun.

I'm really impressed. I don't know what I was expecting but it certainly looks like a lot more money has been spent on it than on either The Flash or Arrow (both of which already had some pretty decent effects work).

Same here. Interesting mix of characters on the team and of course having Vandal Savage as the Big Bad doesn't hurt either.

Who needs the dour DC movies when we have fun shows like The Flash, LoT and hopefully Supergirl to look forward to?

It probably has the same season budget as Flash and Arrow, but it's only getting 13 episodes, so the per-episode is higher.

Count me in. And i soured on the CW Universe after the Arrow finale yesterday.

Still don't care for Routh's Atom though.

I'm just happy Routh's playing a superhero again.  He was a better Superman than the new Steelman is.

So is the other half of Firestorm's actor being difficult and that's why he's not included?

Jesus, that's a weird sentence out of context...

But seriously, part of the fun of a character like that is being a duo.

I think Robbie Amell had booked another series before this one got under way. I'm really curious how they're going to work around it, since they clearly show Firestorm a few times in the trailer.

I bet he's there for the pilot but remains in the present with Barry and Ollie when the rest of the team jumps through time (probably not entirely voluntary).

It's so weird to see Arthur Darvill in this, mainly because the CW DC world seems so very American to me, but also because I'm so incredibly used to him a laid-back everyman from Doctor Who. Here, he's a frickin' Time Master.

Would love it if they take every opportunity to remind us of Darvill's association with Doctor Who. The creators seem to be fans given previous casting choices (John Borrowman, Alex Kingston).

I started watching Arrow a few weeks ago. Between this and The Flash, it looks like I've got something to look forward to. :)

I fully expect at some point somebody will complain about how cramped his time machine is with everybody in there and he'll fire back with "Were you expecting it to be bigger on the inside?"

I'm all for Wentworth Miller getting work, but good god. I'd rather pay him to clean out my basement than have this show be his lifesblood.

Guess life as Ted Foulke wasn't paying the bills.

If Darvill doesn't shout 'Geronimo' at least once I'll eat my pants. If they got Mark Hamill to say 'I am your Father' then they'll make that happen.

New Trailer is up.

Joe Dante is directing the eighth episode of the season:

Well, that's incredibly exciting.

That is awesome news indeed!

Damn, son!

Actually really looking forward to this.  This news just makes it better.

At last! The Flash / gremlins team-up I've been wating for all my life!
